Everyone would like to think when they have to step up they’ll measure up. Most would rather not, when you always HAVE to keep facing it. Most who never have, don’t know any better so they keep chasing it. At 47 the reality is, somedays you are kicking ass and somedays you’re getting your ass kicked. I suspect you already know @John... There is no prize. You usually just get another day. usually Respect to Lloyd and the Avery family.

Lloyd’s story always gives me chills. It’s such a shame he threw his life away for a gang life he never grew up in. He could have been an amazing actor, but he sucked himself into a dangerous life, and ended up serving life in prison (rightfully so). His death was so horrific, how body guards couldn’t find his body for 2 days is beyond me, a gross misconduct on their part. His family should have filed a lawsuit against the prison. RIP🙏🏾

That always struck me about the scene when he killed Ricky. That's some serious hatred and evil in his eyes. And his acting at 4:45, that's a person who can easily kill people. He sounds like he became paranoid that everyone hated him "for killing Ricky" and he became that character.

The death penalty is effectively non-existent in California anymore. We officially have people on death row, but there hasn’t been an execution in decades. And one of the three drugs approved in the death penalty by CA aren’t available on the market anymore, so we literally can’t perform executions. I’m okay with that though. I don’t believe in the death penalty. I don’t even believe in life in prison. A lot of countries the max sentence for murder is like 10-12 years. I think if our system ACTUALLY tried to rehabilitate people that would be plenty of time, but we don’t. We have for profit prisons and we just make people work. One of my best friends when I was younger went into prison already pretty bad, but he was 10x worse when he came out.

While he may have made some costly choices, in the end he still found Jesus! I can’t say if he did the murders or not but I pray he didn't and my heart definitely goes out to the families of the victims Annette Lewis and Percy Branch. I can say that he repented of his sins, and turned his life around, and was very well loved and respected at Pelican Bay. He renounced his LA Duece gang name and that lifestyle. Sadly before his arrest he couldn’t shake the image of the character he portrayed and started living it for-real unfortunately, which later lead to his shortcomings. He is my cousin and I can tell you that he completely 100% devoted his life to God and was actually welcoming to having the satanist as his cellmate because he thought he could get him saved, he truly in the end had a heart for the Lord and even lead bible studies... the Pelican Bay prison chaplain spoke at his funeral and said so. I know that many people go to prison and find God but his deliverance was the real thing! I always knew him to be a very sweet loving person with a good sense of humor that always kiss my forehead, told me he loved me and how beautiful I was, he could be a hot head on rare occasions and made some poor choices with the gangbanging but never once did he strike me as someone that could kill anyone. He came from a very loving family in Hyde Park, a very sweet mother, stern father, beautiful sister and brothers that are both great fathers who have done very well for themselves, we all miss him so very much! I hope one day a movie will be made about him because there is so much more to this story that isn't being told here. Some people on his cell block say several CO's were indeed involved, but we may never know really. I also heard that the female victim was the mother of an OG Crip and that he had inside ties and had it all arranged as payback for her death. So many suspicious things happened that day like the Security footage somehow conveniently erased or how the CO's had no explanation for the 11 missed counts and standing counts for 2 days straight or why they would put a Satanist in the same cell as a Christian especially when that satanist said he would kill anyone they put in his cell. For 17 years Kevin Roby was in a cell alone so why was Lloyd suddenly placed in his cell, was he purposely placed in harms way??? Lloyd later asked to be removed from the cell fearing his safety which went ignored. Family members that investigated were told by a top Pelican Bay prison official to just leave it alone. I wrote a letter to the prison and was told there was a lot more to this story and that I was putting myself in danger and to just let it go, so I did. People on his cellblock also complained about the smell of the body which finally prompted them to remove it, by time family was notified and viewed his body he had been dead for several days and was beaten beyond recognition with injuries so gruesome that lead us to believe there was possibly more to this story than what we were told. While in prison Lloyd wrote a script, a fictional tale about killing an inmate and hiding the body for 2 days.. and then it actually ends up happening to him! It's crazy right..was it manifestation, life imitates art... hard to say but I think it was the script, I believe it got into the wrong hands because he mentioned things actually going on in the prison in the script (i.e. inside corruption, illegal dealings, conspiracies etc.). Trust this rabbit hole goes deep. He was in talks with John Singleton about turning the script into a movie. I was also good friends with John, we spoke often and he still kept contact with my cousin the entire time he was in prison, he wanted to come to the funeral but was on location shooting a movie (Fast & Furious in Miami) at the time, I pray they both rest in peace. I still can't believe they are both gone now.. And to those whom say he got what he deserved for killing 2 people, I say this... I don't know if he was innocent or guilty but there was no real evidence that got him convicted, it was solely based on the 2 witnesses testimony and ironically as fate would have it after he went to jail those very witnesses that got him convicted, well they later recanted their stories, they later admitted that they were paid/threatened etc. coerced to lie. Also evidence was withheld like the testimony of one of the victims before he died saying Lloyd wasn't the killer, evidence also went missing from the police locker and other evidence was found to be tampered with/possibly even planted which lead to the first trial being completely thrown out and he was granted a second trial but his court appointed lawyer sucked and his jury was mostly white, they even showed an enlarged pic of him from that scene in Boyz n the Hood when he's holding the gun to say to the unfamiliar white jury, "look he’s a violent man," without even saying it was just a pic from a movie, so needless to say he didn’t get a fair shot at the 2nd trial at all... and he definitely didn't get treated fairly in prison, he was set up for death the minute they placed him in that cell with the Satanist Kevin Roby, and they knew it. He suffered a painful gruesome horrific death, he fought for his life, he had defensive wounds, he was hit in the head so hard he had a hole in his head, he had bite marks, his eyes black and swollen shut, broken nose, broken ribs and sternum, chest caved as if he was stomped, he was strangled then aspirated essentially drowning in his own blood then striped naked and placed over a pentagram and had a ritual done over his lifeless body, Roby then used his blood to write satanic symbols and spells on the walls.. how disgusting and vile. Lloyd he was such a beautiful man with an even more beautiful soul, gone too soon, oh cousin you definitely didn't deserve for your bright light to be extinguished like that. I wish these tv shows would stop exploiting him to fit their narrative and tell the entire story. Rest well cousin....

People like Quentin Tarantino say movies have nothing to do with real life and have no role in inspiring violence. This incredibly sad story seems inevitable. I'm sorry for your loss. I grew up with Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Clint Eastwood, like nothing is real or important until death is in the mix. That beginning of Boyz N The Hood, the STOP sign, is too often seen as those other guys fault, like in Boyz N The Hood when Whitman Mayo points at the neighborhood kids as the source of the trouble. Your cousin's story shows kids follow influences. I lived in an all Black homeless shelter. That's when I first experienced the caring, the fear of danger, the desire for acceptance, the human weaknesses which are the beauty in this life. Movies which make Blacks look hard and dangerous are evil. I'm sorry this society created such a false impression of your people.

drasticwillb The world is built off of sensationalism and glorification. This video having 2 million views is the prime example of that. Even though it's ignorant we still find it fascinating and interesting. It's all about how you perceive it. With kids it's a different story because you're teaching right and wrong. Lloyd was already older so I don't know what was his problem. Maybe he wasn't there mentally at the time. You can't just blame Tarantino and Singleton for influencing people to be violent. If somebody older than 18 is easily persuaded to go out and randomly kill people, they already had a problem to begin with. Movies are entertainment, nothing more.

Sounds to me that he didn't want to pay his dues. A lot of big time actors today started out in very small roles.

@calo10able not really your average gangbanger, the police chase, shooting films, the impact of those films, him getting into religion, then in the argument by the satanist it would be a really good movie

Great video brother! I just came across this channel and had to subscribe. I never heard about any of this but I always got a weird vibe from his character in Boys. He kind of has crazy eyes. Boys, Mennace, and South Central were my three favorite hood movies. American Me is great but a little to heavy in the second half. I liked juice but not as much as Boys or Mennace. Think I’ll rewatch one of those today. Cheers brother, thanks for the awesome content!

Maybe he was suffering from depression or schizophrenia. Sometimes when an actor portrays a character that character becomes like a demon who influences that person. Thebest actors know that after portraying a dark character, it's important to disassociate from that energy.
