For the 25th Anniversary of her debut album 'MISS THANG' Monica reflects on 25 memorable clips, as well as highlights how starting in the trenches inspired her new music. Part I: Southside • The Story Of 'Miss Tha...
Monica's parents did an excellent job of raising a young lady. Having class is priceless, her reputation speaks for itself. When I hear her sing, she sends chills all through my soul.
And this is why you’ll never see an Unsung episode about Monica because even after 25+ years in the industry, she’s still blessed and being blessed with success and we stan a strong Black Queen☺️‼️❤️
Monica and Aaliyah never looked their age. I'm watching this and hearing her say "i was 12 1/2 yrs old during this time " Girl what?? Mind blowing. And then have the nerve to look 24 yrs old now. 🤣🤣 #BlackDontCrack
Lmao she really does look 24. It’s still mind blowing to hear she was 12 singing don’t take it personal. Not only her look, but her VOICE was hella mature and powerful beyond her years
Monica is so humble, listening to her talk she’s very wise. I almost cried hearing her speak about being the “underdog” I’ve always felt like the underdog. We always surpass !!
SHE IS NOT THE UNDERDOG IN MY BOOK SHE IS A VOCAL GODDESS N A LEGEND.🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐TEAM MO ALL DAY EVERY DAY
I’ve loved Monica’s music since I was a child; however, watching this series has given me a newfound and unwavering level of respect for Monica as an individual. She represents one of VERY few people in the entertainment industry that are humble and down-to-Earth, in spite of how much success she has attained. The mere fact that she’s sharing these aspects of her life with us openly is soooo respectable and very much appreciated.
Wow I’ve been saying it for years Monica has always been the underdog! She’s never really gotten the credit she deserves but still so humble and can see some good in most situations! Such rarity. I’ve been rocking with Monica since I knew what music was! No lie! I’m 27 yrs old now!
Monica I just loved your back story. You need to do more on RU-vid I don't have social media. Im a fan for life. You did your thing and stayed true to your self. I remember cutting my hair short in the top like t-boz but my mom would not let me dye it blond. So I left it short at the top with side burns and long in the back. Thanks for Always keeping it real.
My fav created a masterpiece of an album and graduated with her class as valedictorian!!! Man please y’all better put some respect on Monica’s name fr!!!
My fav ❤️ I absolutely love Monica’s confidence. I’m sure her family has a lot to do with it which is evidence of how important it is that children be raised in a loving environment. They tend to be more secure and sure of themselves.
@@Niecy-mj2nf it was recorded when her boyfriend committed suicide and it was only released in Japan in 2002 it was revamped in 2003 when Monica wanted to get back into the studio they did it again.
Came home at 12, with your hair cut & dyed?! And no beating?! Ooooh wee! Mama was a lil head of the whole alternative punishment thing cause when I combed the curls outta my head, I got my ass rocked! 🤣🤣🤣
There are a few things that I learned from Monica growing up! 1 always be real with yourself and 2. Work hard at what you do! I’ve been a fan for since the beginning and still is a fan at 35 years old! Monica thank you for always being you!
Thanks, Monica for another trip down the memoir lane.... Please give the fans some footage of the first videos of Just one of those days.... that were unreleased.
Monica when I tell you most of your albums got me thru my life problems omg! Still to this day they get me thru! Your not the underdog in my eyes! Your vocals speak for you! You always kept it classy didn’t have to be a sex symbol to make it and I respect ✊🏾 you for that! Love 💕
Loved this. She's the Whitney Houston of my generation. My opinion is my opinion. I said what I said.😁Fan 4 Life.A rare musical gem.I would love to get my hands on her Japan tour performances.
There will never be another Whitney in any generation. Before Monica's generation there was Shanice. Even in Monicas generation there is Tamia, Deborah Cox, Brandy, Kelly price etc. All gorgeous and uber talented But nobody is comparable to Whitney. Ever!
Facts...lol taping over someone else's tape just to end up catching half the song😂😂😂all of Monica's music brings back the best memories and moments.mood to boo..lol didnt even know what she was talking about☺..#MissThangIsBigSis1995Est#LetsKeepItReal#DontTakeItPersonal#imSoGone✌Should of known better❤#QueenOfAtlanta#Checkmate😘STILL STANDING.
I applaud Mrs. Marilyn Best! for a job well done. It's such a blessing to have such an inspiration. I can only imagine how amazing she is as a mother because of who you are and what you stand for!❤🙏🏾
Thank God that Dallas Austin isn't like any other producer like R. Kelly in general. Monica is a true singer. I also do remember her as she was featured on the 1995 song Freedom as part of the various artists with true females in R&B, Soul, Neo-Soul and Rap/Hip-Hop. Man, Monica has that class. You can't deny on that!!
Who knew hair played such an important part in this career? I don't think many of the youngsters coming out realize that they pay for the expenses when they sign these deals. Thanks for sharing your story. It is inspiring. Much success to YOU...🤩
@Cindy Thompson In this video, she shows that the company informed her that it wasn't a good business decision but what is right is that We Give Things POWER.
Especially back then plus she was JUST coming out establishing her look and since both from Atlanta and TLC was big before her I can see how Dallas didn’t want her to look like she was trying to copy TBoz signature short blond hair look. But now people change their hair so much especially with these wigs/lace fronts that I wouldn’t be surprised that now they’re pressured to CHANGE their hair/look a LOT moreso than then to stay relevant or to keep people’s interest cause people attention span is short asf now and not as loyal of fans as they used to be gotta keep people on their toes now 💯
I loved all the 90s r&b teen queens. Aaliyah, Brandy and Monica. I must say Monica's music always hit me different. You really feel what she sings. Love Mo since 95
Damn Mo...can't believe its been 25 years!!! Miss Thang was my SHIT!! We ran that cd OUT in my house! I'm so happy I found this! Always wanted to know the story about how you came to be!
Whew, Sis! At 12 years old, my mama wouldn't allow me to do anything to my hair. Wash, condition and simple lil' styles was all for me. You know what, Sis? You are all right w/ me. I love yo' personality. Part of my dad's side is from Hamilton, Georgia. The other part is from New York. I was born and raised in the Bay Area though. Anyway, I enjoyed this video through and through.
Congratulations again Miss Thang!! I'm so proud of my ATL sister!! Even though I'm 45 now I looked up to you even back then! You knew who you were and very comfortable being you! Thank you for sharing your confidence with us other girls whom gained our confidence through you!! Blessings ❤🙏💯👑
Watching this was so nostalgic. It took me back. I'm the same age as Monica and I sang and wrote songs. She was so inspiring to me. Her, Usher, Brandy, and Aaliyah had albums out at the same time and I played them all until I couldn't anymore. This was really dope 👌
This is great. I feel like I have gotten a full, clear idea about who Monica is outside of her music and the relationships and it makes me happy that others now know that she is more than that.
Such a nostalgic feeling watching Monica listening to the background music and hearing her speak. Love loved her since day one! Always new she special since Miss Thang came out and it was probably was the first tape I ever bought lol! I sang “Angel”at my 7th grade talent show😳
Your story is amazing Monica it wasn’t typical by any means and you survived it all !! to be in tune with your gift before you can even fully understand it at the young age of 12!! and to continue get better with time is a testimony in itself .you lived it,You learned from it, and you’re still here. Thank God for placing the right spirits in your life so you could have an opportunity to share your God given gift with the world 🙏🏾🙌🏾❤️
Too short!!! I love love her vibe and her attitude. Been a fan since day one! She can't do no wrong in my eyes. Great documentary Monica bravo👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🥰
Shout out to Monica's Mama for doing a great job. She seems like a very beautiful, personable, grounded person wise beyond her years. I would love to meet her one day soon.
Yes Queen. Auntentic and talented. These shows better give her the flowers she deserves when the time come. Long career but still young so just keep on and keep slaying. 🤩🤩👑💐💐💐
I love Monica she has always been my favorite Artist from day 1 I still have all her CD's!!!! She's such a classy lady very head strong & well respected...
So happy for Monica, she started so young, did a lotta things, met lots of people, stayed humble all the way, I think she has a very nice/classy girlfriend kinda vibe, would love to hang out w her but I'm in Belgium so chances are slim 🤷🏻♀️ I just really feel we have so much in common, besides the obvious music taste, I don't know, I just have this hunch that we could actually be friends 😅 Am I coming over a bit weird in my comment here 🙄 Anyhow, love love love Miss Thang ❤️
I know this documentary is a celebration of Monica’s excellence in the limelight as well as in her personal life but this was also a inspiring walk down memory lane. I’m so glad you decided to share YOUR story YOUR way!
