I have 2 of these and they sound great to me. For a while I had 5 total in my room but it was too much and found 2 in the right location (behind seats) just sounded better. Great video and content.
I have 3 of these spread out across the room. Using MiniDSP 2x4 HD and MSO, I have very tight bass and perfectly flat across 3 seats. They aren't the best at playing low bass but they get the job done for the levels I listen at. I've had them at 95-100db before with room to go.
Agreed. I think these are some of the best budget subs you can get. I've never used a MiniDSP for them. That might be something to look into down the road. Thanks.
I've got a pair of these in our theater now. I've been experimenting with their placement for awhile - I had them stacked with isolation feet for awhile, I had them outside the left and right channels on either side. Right now, after getting a great deal on new LR speakers at Christmas, I have them side by side under my (currently not in use) center channel. However, I think I'm going to go back to the stack with the feet, but leave them in the middle. I've liked the impact of them stacked, but like you said, the bass is more even when they're spread out.
Back in 2010 I believe I had the exact same sub for messing around with my DJ decks. The issue I had was port noise the only way I was able to tame it was by adding sound padding to the port.
I've been lucky enough to never have an issue with the port unless I crank the gain or volume up super high. Which at that point, I'd have the volume loud enough to deafen myself and possibly blow my speakers. So the port chuffing would be the least of my problems.
