crazy how all of the guys from that generation ended up "disappointing" really, though I think its mainly because the bar set by Messi and Ronaldo was just impossibly high to reach. But, beyond the guys you said, there was Isco, James, Wilshere, El Shaarawy, Lamela etc. who all just never quite satisfied the expectations set around them
@@ulisesderas5773Götze is definitely one of the biggest What ifs in recent football but I wouldn’t put him in a category with Pogba,Neymar, Hazard and Balloteli. Their problem was mainly not fulfilling their potential due to lack of focus and professionalism and off the field issues. Götzes career even though he already had a more difficult time at Bayern really went down due to the negative effects of his metabolic disease around the time he returned to Dortmund.
Seeing Pogba live in the stadium was mind blowing. His presence on the pitch, his ball control. No one could steal the ball from him. One of the best to ever play the game.
On his day Pogba was easily one of the best midfielders of his generation he had all the tools and talent to do everything on the pitch but it was just the injuries and inconstancy that kept him from being an all time great. Also just a quick clarification on his "ban" from the 2022 WC final it wasn't due to his doping suspension he was injured before the tournament which is why he wasn't on the France squad and Juve wouldn't let him travel to attend the final because they wanted to make sure his recovery went well

mourinho p much never stayed at a club for more than 2-3 years. he shows up, plays his haram ball, wins trophies, falls out with the dressing room and/or the board and repeats the cycle
pogba at his best was one of the best midfielders in the world. thing is, his best only showed up every tenth game or so. both ole and mourinho preferred playing mctominay at 6 (who isnt even a natural CDM), since he would always run, work hard and be a great guy in the dressing room. all things pogba.. well.. wasnt exactly known for
I’m a United fan, I watched him play every weekend and I can tell you his lack of focus made him so inconsistent. Yes he’s look like a great player in highlight but in reality, he play good in 1 game and then dissapear in the next 5 games. He’s workrate is so low for a midfieder and you notice that just by watching that he’s barely even ran. He’s only good for France since national team only play in tournament that last no more than a month and ig that’s where he wanted to play. I personally think Mourinho was right, he’s a viruss to all United player and he represent what United are in that time, flashy but inconsistent
Even Mourinho underestimated what Fergie and later Scholes and Keane pointed out Pogba lacked. Woodward the slime executive getting "Pogback" was one of the highlights of showing how far away they took the club from its core principles of expecting discipline and dedication from players on the field. Reduced a club proud of its legacy of perseverance into a gimmick. Luke he is definitely not a fun player to watch when he is so irregularly turning up for games through a league run, and then act as if he is doing really well and not caring about results because the guillotine will fall on the manager's head, not the players. He does bullshit and expects the fans to turn against people like Ole? Who is actually a club legend? What a virus. Mourinho definitely regrets defending him once.

Paul Pogba is one of the most overrated overhyped players of modern football. I have never seen a player capable of getting a 9 or 10 and in the next game getting a 2 out of 10! Terrible attitude and just a very selfish player overall. I'm sorry but if Fergie gets rid of you, as much as I dislike Man Utd, the man was a genius so knew what he was doing!
Agree about his attitude but if we’re talking about pure talent, ability and technique. Without doubt he could have been one of the best, but like many, he seemed to be derailed by the lifestyle and a bad support network. This coming from a Man City fan
@@Z33Nwa It's just not there. The stats will back it up too. He had maybe 2 decent seasons at Juventus and got massively over hyped during a period when English clubs were throwing money about. Ability yeah but did he have a career anywhere close to Yaya toure as you're a city fan? Are his numbers close to his? If I had to make a list of players top 1000 of the past 40yrs, he wouldn't be in it.

@@just_a_yokai1103 I tend to think a couple of years playing very well isn't world class. World class are players who are remembered for years for being exceptional...like Seedorf for example...pogba not even close to him! Not world class, not even in the same breath
