The biggest disadvantage is also its simplicity. It's so simple and repetitive it's not compelling enough to watch in the long term. RLCS declining viewers tells you that.

Personally I'd say watching a game like League of Legends is much more entertaining than Rocket League, if you understand what's going on that is.

The biggest advantages are complete equality of competitors and no RNG besides kick-off car placement. The only true esports currently to me.

fakewars I kinda agree but new mechanics are always being discovered (somehow 3 years after release) and the skill ceiling is always getting higher so it never really is the same. Also, if you get into the game and the community you’ll enjoy it a lot more.

@@chupasaurus The car placement on kickoffs isn't random, both teams spawn in the same formation for the kickoff. The only RNG in rocket league is the respawn after a car has been demoed.

@@aztuce7465 when i mean it defines it, its really me saying this game is what has taking the drive in my gaming life. I have been playing all the way back to my gameboy color when i was 5. these past 3 years with rocket league have been amazing, and, by far, is my favorite game. i still have my old cartridges of pitfall and legends of zelda for my gameboy color.

Season 5 was amazing. There were loads of buzzer beaters. Season 6 had much closer series’s and even more nutty shots

@Kahinur Nessa I'm a C9 fanboy and I still think season 5 grand finals was the best series in RL history. I still wish NRG had won it after JSTN's 0-second goal, but the entire series up to the ending was insane

@Shmeat Beater there were way more goals that were insane for that time. Both team plays and advanced mechanics were being revolutionized, and JSTN was taking a lot of the spotlight as a rookie. The two series' they played were way closer than the s6 grand finals, the usage of crazy mechanics to make team plays was beyond anything any other teams had accomplished up to that point. There was also JSTN's 0 second goal, which is inarguably the most memorable goal in RL history, and by far the most viewed twitch clip. The difference between s5 and s6 in my opinion is that Dignitas lost in s6 because they made a lot of errors, which cloud 9 were usually able to punish. In the s5 grand finals, both NRG and Dignitas were raising the bar for pro gameplay. They were both playing as close to perfect as was achievable at the time. Most of the games weren't lost due to one team having trouble with rotations or other repeat mistakes, they were winning because the plays they were making were at skill level that no one had ever seen. Season 6 was memorable because of the results, not as much the actual gameplay. Squishy has been among the competition to be the best in the world for a while, so for me and other c9 fans it was amazing to finally see him win RLCS, especially while dethroning Dignitas. I love squishy and c9, I was rooting for NRG in s5, but I still think s5 was more memorable due to the actual gameplay.

People even thought Mock it could potentially beat KoU, Northern gaming were by far the favourite to win it by beating Flipsid3 so many times before. And OverZer0's air dribble wasn't the most impressive goal out of the tournament??? What are you talking about, Gambit or Paschy90 could do that back in 2015 (many pros could've done, but it was so risky nobody went for it), and it wasn't top right it was a simple air dribble that many said at the time wasn't hard but it was so clutch it deserved to seen as such a goal. There were goals like F3's passing plays that were more impressive at the time, some of the double taps and passing plays such as sikii to Paschy slim angle goal, there were far harder mechanical goals than OverZer0's goal...
