Jim is the worlds best front man, Mick the genius, enough said, Charlie the brilliance, Mel the heart and well the bass players have been just amazing ...
You came to a small venue in Portland, Or, USA and you played your hearts out, you did a double set just because you'd not been back since the 80's. It was a life expereince! If you love Simple Minds, but not sure if you should see them in concert, you DO!
In '99 the second CD I ever bought with myself, and the one that got the the most play was a SM best of. I'd only ever heard "don't you" on 80s throwback radio shows. Still playing them 20 years later!
There's nothing like Simple Minds, absolute legends, the very best and the soundtrack to our lives. First got into them after first hearing the stunning Let There Be Love on the radio one night here in Australia and that started me on a road of fandom for this band that simply has gotten bigger and bigger as time has passed. Simple Minds forever!!
1985 was probably the greatest year in history for many reasons - music, movies, and historic events. There should be a 1985 holiday world, like #WestWorld, where you can go with everything recreated in real time.
No it wasn't Simple Minds were huge in the UK already since 1979, then in 1982 -1984 their two Albums "New Gold Dream " and "Sparkle in the Rain " reached number 2 and number 1 in the UK charts.

What can I say. You Jim Kerr and the band have been the one band since I was a teen that I can relate to. Different phases of my life....ups and downs...always seemed like a Simple Minds song I could embrace. Your music just truly lifts me up. Hard to find musicians that can actually do that through their craft.
These Cats put together some awsome music.....takes me back to the 80s!!.....Its great to hear they ll be crankin out some ROCK n ROLL soon!.....Keep on Rockin in the free World.......
Literally, a Life in Music. Simple Minds keeps breaking new ground and evolves. Determination and Dedication in it's truest form. I truly believe that SM is a worldwide phenomenon, and will forever be one.
Good video, but you just can't forget your greatest song of all times, "Speed your Love to Me"!! This is the song that made me know you, a single (I have the 12" vynyl) and it's outrageous to keep it out of this video!! :((
A tale of 2 bands. If they hadnt met Bono and stayed on the road they were travelling culminating in the fantastic New Gold Dream, they would be way beyond where they are now musically. As a fan that pisses me off. Also, you dont fire someone like forbes and expect to improve!!!! nice to see theyre still around though.

1:17 #NewGoldDream had great songs, but was still too stiff and punk, and #JimKerr's voice is too good for punk - shame the modern style live versions weren't remade in a studio. 1:50 #SparkleInTheRain was #SimpleMinds' first album in their popular rock/pop style, followed by their best album, #OnceUponATime (2:21 #NoFiller tracks). NB: 2:07 #DontYou (Forsey/Schiff) was one of their few songs not actually written by them, although it is probably their most popular and most famous song (although I'd suggest the unreleased album title track #StreetFightingYears is technically their masterpiece/best song, from their last great album).
@@goldsaj True but we can only "assume" from past departures. Either way the current line up and the last studio album were flat as a pancake. So bad Jim's brother actually lost his mind.
@@katywardle4878 I can honestly say, I believe their last album, to be, one of their best. 40 minutes of perfectly crafted perfection. With a production, that is maybe slightly too polished. As for Jim's brother, that is just speculation on your behalf.As for past departures the only one I can think of who was dismissed is Derek, Mick left on his own accord.
