NYC 1 that’s not what I meant. That team was absolutely stacked with amazing moments. But having a yearly anniversary special is kind of sad. Most people in their 20’s and even 30’s aren’t going to have the biggest connection with that team. If this rebuild doesn’t pan out(it should), at least 1994 doesn’t have the same ring as 1940 lol

Kush Royal I get it. I wish fans that weren’t old enough to remember it could get the feeling we got. It was magical and remember we had to suffer through the Islanders dynasty’s. The game has changed and the Islanders have been mostly bad your life but those games were intense.

He was my hero as a teen. Had his jersey, hat, poster, and replica goal stick.

He’s a very nice person.

One of my biggest regrets is giving a Richter liberty jersey to a guy I thought was pretty destined to become my brother in law. Spoiler, he's not my brother in law.

The only time the Islanders won a Stanley Cup is quite revered, their dynasty is the only time they went to the Stanley Cup Finals and won a Stanley Cup.

@@dannythomas417 Overall, Keenan was a very good coach. His body of work speaks for itself. Quinn was also a very good coach. His 1994 Vancouver team was dam good. I'm a big-time Rangers fan but I tip my cap to the 1994 Canucks. They had one heck of a team.

Because the Tampa Bay Lightning are the TWO-TIME defending Stanley Cup Champions and Vancouver wasn't, so it wouldn't have mattered. PLUS, our TBL are THEE current dynasty in the NHL. No denying that.

@@erickouniakis5722 I agree, He was an awesome player. I was rooting for him. At the time, I was blindsided when he got traded but in the long run, it helped the team win the Stanley Cup.

Mike went to the capital's and mark to our hometown Edmonton.!! I've known mark since i was 11. Mark is one years older than me. His family were regulars at my dad's restaurant in St Albert. Edmonton is only 16 km from Edmonton. 1980 i stayed with my uncle that lived four blocks from the north land's colosseum in Edmonton i was lucky to have seen the oilers dynasty. That's was amazing hockey. I'm a diehard Oiler and Ranger fan.!!! I was so happy when NY got the cup.!! I can honestly say that when the islander's dynasty came to Edmonton that was hockey at its best.!! Bossy, Trottier, Gillies.!

@@erickouniakis5722 Despite being a big Rangers fan, I was a big fan of the Oilers dynasty. They always got my respect during that stretch. I still periodically watch old games in RU-vid and marvel at their greatness. They were incredible. I tell my nephews about them when we talk hockey. They are last Great NHL Team in my humble opinion. The things they did a& accomplished was mind blowing. They were a scoring machine. I'm currently reading Mark Messier's autobiography. I was watching him tonight on ESPN during the intermission of tonight's NYR vs Tampa playoff game. I love his take on things. He's the one Ranger I have yet to meet in person. He's on my bucket list of players I want to meet. So, it's super cool you knew him and his family. I love Mark, he's still a king here in NYC. Edmonton during the 80s was the spotlight. The country was glued to their highlights. However, being a Rangers fan, I never warmed up to the Islanders. They were great too but I simply didn't like their success over the Rangers. Natural heated rivalry there with NY Rangers fans. I do feel bad that Bossy and Gilles passed away rather young. Both great people and players. May they rest in peace. Before the pandemic, I got to meet and hang out with Glen Anderson, former Ranger and Oiler. He's a very nice man in person. I loved reminiscing with him about the 80s Oilers and the 94 Rangers. I also met Jeff Beukeboom but it was brief. The guy is huge in person. Also very nice in person. The 94 NY Rangers were littered with so many Oilers and it helped. I see we have different takes on the Garner trade, we will never know for sure. I liked Gartner a lot and questioned the trade for a long time. The team won and I'm forever grateful for that. You never know, currently, the Rangers and Oilers could meetup in the 2022 Finals if all things fall into line. Now that would be a fascinating matchup and history.

1983 was very tough. That was a very good Rangers team. 2014 was tough too, However The Kings were better. I picked LA to win in 5. I wanted to be wrong but the Kings were way too fast. I agree with you about 2015...that was hard to take and how it ended. Let's hope 2022 is our year!
