Me too-I stress over stupid stuff like horsepower and manual transmissions and the mere thought of people that steal stuff like that even a car body by itself with a custom paint job is a work of art yet together and complete with all the go fast goodies very very valuable- especially to the owner and his or her many relatives

Hey Ed, I remember your '69 Camaro at the Car Craft magazine Street Machine Nationals. I drove there in my metal-flake rootbeer colored ''73 Plymouth Roadrunner 340. I bought my Roadrunner in 1975 from the dealership it sold at New in Bellevue Washington, I bought it as a used trade-in while serving in the U.S. Navy. It's still in my possession now. Glad to find out that you recovered your car. Bully for you. My present ride is a 2008 Ford Mustang GT with light personal customized touches. So happy that you are well, sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. I have lost both of my folks too. Love your car !!!!.

I’m very glad you were able to get your car back, i had a truck stolen from me 17 years ago, it was my uncles truck and he ended up going to prison and I ended up with the truck, it’s a 1991 gmc sierra 1500 and he put a bunch of work into the engine, transmission, and differential making it a off road beast but also a decent daily driver, it also had a custom paint job making it stand out, anyways one night I was working as a bartender and i left my truck unlocked as always since i live in rural Montana and at the end of my shift I went out to get in my truck and it wasn’t there, I called the police and made a report and gave them pictures of the truck and the vin and plate number and I never heard anything from them or about my truck after that, until one day in 2019 I was going to a house to do some counter tops about 270 miles and across the continental divide from where my truck was stolen and I was driving through the little community where the house was and I just happened to look out my passenger side window and out in a field with a bunch of other probably stolen vehicles was my truck, I’ve probably never hit my brakes as fast as I did once I saw it, I immediately called the police because there was no mistaking that it was mine because of the paint job, a officer came out and asked the land owner some questions and he apparently bought the truck from some tweaker for like 1500 bucks and drove it around for a while until he starved the engine of oil, he even was extra ballsy and drove around with my plate still on it, hell they were even still on it when I found it, nobody got charged for stealing it but I of course got my truck back which was enough before I found it I would look on Craigslist and market place for it every once in a while and I would always think about it since it was the first vehicle I had that was nice, my first truck was a 74 Cheyenne still got it to, I just can’t believe it was as close as it was to me and that the cops never caught the guy driving it with my plates, I’m also glad I didn’t have to go in circles with the police to get it back it’s terrible they did that to you, my truck is now running and driving and back home to be enjoyed, gonna pass it on to my boy in a couple years, at least he’s gonna have a great story to go with it 😂

@@wynottgivemore9274 mines not pretty either, it was my grandpas truck and he gave it to me after I passed my driving test, it has some rust on the cab corners and the wheel wells, along with surface rust on the hood but I recently rebuilt the original 454 completely so it runs perfectly, I hope to eventually fully restore it one of these days it’s what the old man would’ve wanted but it still gets attention from those that appreciate these old trucks

Congratulations! Great to see you got your car back! What a close call with the fire. My 1st car was a 69 RS, bought it in 1976,at the age of 14. Got to keep it for 24 years. My wife and I dated in it all thru high school, got married in it ,raised 3 kids with it . Always part of the family. Sold it in 2001 to start my own business. A multi millionaire bought it to start a car collection. He bought around 50 cars later, but it was one of the nicest he had. I had made it a ZL-1 replica, down to the last detail. He said it would "always be my car, he was just keeping it for me".He always said if it ever left, I'd get it back. I thought he was as good a friend as I ever had. About a year ago he sold it without even offering it back to me, not even a phone call. I was and am still heart broken. All I know is it went to Florida. I pray that someday I'll have the same luck you did and find it. Enjoy your Camaro! Drive it every time you can!!!

What an incredible story! I'm so glad you were able to persevere and get your car back! I bought my 1967 Olds Cutlass Supreme Convertible in 1984 for $1500, which was every penny I could come up with at the time. For the next ~7 years I spent pretty much all of my available money and time on it. In 1994 I asked my now wife to marry me in it and she insists I'm never allowed to sell it. I've still got it today and can only imagine how I'd feel if it was stolen. It was rust free and in excellent running condition when I parked it in my barn in 2003. Unfortunately, due to other projects and health issues, I haven’t been able to give it the care it deserves, but at least I still have it.

Found my stolen hot rod on craigslist, it was a battle to get the PD to do anything! Persistence, and finally the call I made saying "Since you won't do anything about it! I am going over there to take care of business! (the seller/thief's house) whatever happens is on you!" and hung up. They called me right back and said don't do anything, where going to something tomorrow, then they called me back 2 hours later and said "it's in impound, no charge, pick it up". That's just a small part of the story.

I have a similar story. The first thing I learned when my car was stolen is that the police are not there to help you. They went through every excuse in the book as to why they couldn't help, even telling me on multiple occasions that I should give up and accept that it was gone. I even confronted the guy who at the time had possession of my car, and he and his friends proceeded to kick my ass. Only by sheer determination and will did they finally send an investigator out to inspect the car, and the fact that I etched a date, my initials, the cars vin number and my state title number on the backside of every part of the car I worked on was I able to finally prove that the car was in fact mine.

What an awesome story. In either 83 or 84 my dad got a 67 Camaro. I was 3 or 4 at the time. Whenever we would go somewhere in it I would make him play the song "American Pie". It was stolen in 85 when I was in kindergarten. I cried so hard that my teacher sent home a sympathy note like someone had died. It was later recovered striped. We were heart broken. Dad eventually sold what was left. I ended up getting a 68 Camaro when I was 15 and loved it. I made the dumb decision that I wanted a Chevy 4x4 and sold it. My dad has since passed and I have his 1935 Chevy coupe that was also owned by my grandpa in the 60s. While I love the coupe and its family heirloom its still not the 67 Camaro that I lust over. One day I hope to have a 67....one day.

BEST CAR STORY I'VE HEARD SO FAR ON ANY CHANNEL!! So glad I somehow found this. I don't have any similar tale or anything except to appreciate our Pops out here in Santa Ana, CA. Our Dad came out of WWII and got schooled and trained as a Mechanic / Welder in Southern California (GI Bill), worked his 25 yrs for the feds at El Toro Marine Car...Corps (ooops...heh) Air Station as Fleet & Building Maintenance (1955-1980) all the while operating a neighborhood auto tune-up / brakes / radiator shop out the family garage from 1960-1980. He had retired in late spring of '80, and by end Sept '80 he passed on from cirhosos of the liver / diabetes. Pops was an ACE mechanic, could diagnose by ear, and could build / weld / repair ANYTHING. He sired 9b / 5 g (yes, Mom bore 14 kids!) which is probably why the home garage job, although working on cars was his actual passion, and most of us did time in the garage w/ Pops, cleaining parts as kids whether we wanted to or not, and most of us learning how to work on our own vehicles starting with our bicycles as kids and such. Street cars have been built in that garage as well as side hustles paid for working on our friends cars. We are car enthusiasts, racing fans, and automotive art supporters and appreciators. Anyway, sorry to make this about me, it's not. Just had to share bcuz I am moved by Ed's miracle story! Best to YOU Ed, your Dad sounds like he is an AMAZING soul, and is INSTRUMENTAL in your life's path. Blessings! J_

Your story really struck home when you mentioned the passing of your father. My father also passed away on New Years Day. 1988. I was 18 years old. My father was diagnosed with cancer only 3 months prior. It was a very quick decline of a man who was my best friend and hero. He was teaching me about cars and even helped me purchase my first muscle car not even a year earlier. A 1968 El Camino. We had plans to fix it up together but unfortunately it was a task I had to do myself. Even to this day, I do not celebrate New Years Eve. Even just writing this has brought a tear to my eye. My biggest disappointment is that my father never got to see me as an adult. My mother always said that I was a spitting image of my dad. Not just in looks but in total demeanor. Your story was nothing more than an absolute roller coaster ride of events. Hold on tight to everything you love brother. In a blink of an eye things can change your life forever.

I still have my first car sitting right behind me as I am typing this. Also a Camaro that I have for over 20 years pumping gas as a kid. It's a Maui blue '87 IROC that I bought for $800 after it hit a deer. It really choked me up listening to your story and thinking about my friends that helped me turn wrenches on it who aren't here anymore. The closest I can come to your story is when my cat got out and the neighbor dropped her off over 40 miles away. I found her a month later just before Christmas at 1:35 in the morning, five minutes after they posted the listing. They gave me a hard time about getting her back until I got the police involved and produced a litany of pictures of her and my dog from when they were little together. Then they instantly gave up who did what and the conversations exchanged. The reunion was glorious and emotional. I'm so glad you found your car brother. I am a tow truck driver now, so I see firsthand what our first responders do when the worst happens. I am lucky enough to have great guys like your Father and the firefighter that helped you being the majority in my area.

Wow. Such an awesome & touching story. I'm so happy that not only did you get your car back, but you also got to spend time w/ your Dad on the journey to find Pearl. Brought tears to my eye, as I remembered my Dad had been an LEO (PD), before I was born and had been deputized to the Sheriffs dept as an extradition officer after I'd left home. During my childhood, he had became a car dealer after PD, we handled many cars of that vintage, had 2 stolen by a former employee (55 Chevy PU & 65 Mustang), those WERE eventually recovered. As a result of his being a used dealer & raising me in the business, I've enjoyed a rather long career in the auto industry, mainly in detailing, reconditioning, wetsanding & paint correction. To see you describe coming full circle in this, reminds me of what I've realized not long back. Thanks for posting, and we look forward to more updates with Pearl. Good Job My Friend, you never gave up.

This is the best story I have heard on years explained by the one who lived it.... I can feel the emotions of happiness, and frustrations of the obstacles he had encountered in his mission to get back the piece of awesome machinery acquired from a young age... Just to have it stolen, and then go through what he did not have to go through, if the ones who are supposed to be in a position for reasons such as these, had done their jobs as they were supposed to, instead of being lazy, and made this guy do the job, these individuals should have done...... Great job doing the investigative work and getting your loved car back brother..... I totally understand your feelings in all this, as well; as the feelings of the love you had for your father, and this beautiful piece of pro street machinery.....

My name is Eric. I go by the name YourBoyEric. I’m from Southern Cali. I just seen your video about your Camaro and let me tell you that it’s one of the most inspiring stories I’ve ever heard. Your story teaches us about determination and persistence which are all the qualities you have. I’m working on a 78 Camaro Z/28 myself. If you could have seen this car in the beginning stages there would have been no way you would have restored it. I mentioned that because of the determination that drove you to get your car back...no matter what other may think or say. If it’s work cherishing...it’s worth getting. At the end of your video really hit home for me. Your father meant the world to you. Same as me. My oldest brother was the same way to me. He was born premature and was the shortest of 5 brothers. He was handicapped, but determined to go to Trade Technical College here in Los Angeles. He didn’t let his handicap stop him from getting what he needed to get. Again that word...determination, and that’s exactly drove him to getting his degree. He meant the world to me like your father was to you. He finally passed away March of 2009, and boy I miss him terribly. Your story inspired me and I’m quite sure others as well. When people are against you and when people don’t want to help you we must play with the cards that was dealt to us....but you proved them wrong. Keep you enemies close, but your father closer. Enjoy your blessing. YourBoyEric. P.S...keep on hot rodding.

My dad collected classic cars. He had 38 when i left home. He alway took an insane amount of photos of them, and would place magnets in places nobody would ever look unless it was rotisserie restored or chop shopped. And of course photo all vins. He had a 65 Chevelle SS El Camino numbers matching 396 factory air, tilt wheel, power seat, and power window car. Super rare. Be hard to hide if stolen. But it was. He told the authorities about all the magnets and gave them 50 photos. Took 2 years. 3 states away it was found. In the same exact condition it left in a guys garage. The rally wheels were gone but thats it. The guy that had it paid a sultry $12,800 for it. He bought it at the Rod Run in Pigeon Forge Tennessee. Thr build sheet was even in the springs of the bench seat. The perps are still at large.

Edward, what an incredible story!!! I have owned numerous Camaros over the years as has lots of people. I owned a wrecking yard and had access to thousands of cars of all makes and models. My story happened back in 1989 and is about a 68 SS Camaro. I also had strong feelings for that car. I went on vacation and upon returning realized my Camaro was gone. You story brought back the heartbreak that I totally understood when you were telling your story. I immediately began calling around and driving to places I thought might have something to do with cars. I eventually found out that my oldest brother had sold it to a guy for $100.00. The guy immediately dismantled the Camaro and started selling the parts. By the time I found him, he didn't have anything left that could be used. Sad part of the whole thing is, while I was gone, my brother also sold 2 boats, a 65 SS Malibu, a 52 Willys Jeep pick up, a 70 SS Camaro, a 58 Edsel, a 63 SS Impala, a 66 SS El Camino, and 10 other cars that I won't list. When I confronted him, he told me he didn't think I was coming back and he didn't think I wanted them.... I told him yea, that's why I kept them in my shop and spent money and time working on them all the time because I didn't want them. I still have the titles to all them cars but what good is a title if you don't have the car... If I had pursued getting them back, my brother probably would have gone to prison and I couldn't bring myself to do that... I never found out what happened or where he sold them or to who.

I also had a 396/325hp in my beater Camaro, which was a 327 with a 283 crank. That was my car that I drove back-and-forth to school and it had several hundred thousand miles on it by the time it fell apart. As I got older, I sold them one by one.
