@@sanderson9338 That is a great book. Another good one is Black Elk Speaks (he was a medicine man for the Sioux). There are two good books written from the Natives point of view about the battle with Custer at the Little Big Horn, Soldiers Falling Into Camp and Legacy.

I prefer a more straight-forward documentary style of narration. This, to me, comes off a little too theatrical and somewhat detracts from the content. Others, obviously, see it differently . . . to each his own. I do enjoy these docs, regardless of my impressions of the narration.

The USA, exterminated the "red menace", writing and shredding treaties, stealing lands, massacring, and herding Native populations into concentration camps, (Indian reservations), and all in the name of "civilizing the savages". By 1890, with the massacre of the Lakota at Wounded Knee, the total slaughter rose to well over 150 million. The frontier land grab, and internal imperialism - was over! There was a world to conquer, and the USA trained its exceptionally covetous eye, on Cuba, and the Philippines, and just like that - American external imperialism, was born.

Today we read the Americans, all claiming and saying they won their independence from the British? Everybody knows this FACT, right? Or, do they? As, that's strictly not true, now, is it? The British had won many of those 13 colonies, from either the French or Spanish, in various wars over the years. After each victory, either the French or Spanish (depending on which had been beaten) would concede land (in treaties), from their own empires, to the British. However, the reality always was, that the colonies belonged to the Native American. Not the British, so by the USA claiming independence from the British?, (when it was never British land in the first place?) It's actually no different from someone stealing a push-bike, from someone who had stolen that push-bike, and then claiming you then legally own that push-bike? Propaganda, in other words, right?. So, who are the Americans, really? They don't really have any homeland as such, do they? As the reality is, they're, all mere immigrants, who are living on land stolen through a genocide, right? I mean, really, what are the American people? Me? I'm English, this is my homeland, everyone else has a homeland, apart from the Americans, the Israelis and the Kurds. I should think, that's why the Americans don't like nationalism?, or even understand what patriotism really is? That actually makes perfect sense?. Because patriotism comes from the heart, it's a love of one's country, and all the good things your country stands for. Well, really, in all real terms, how can you Americans ever feel that love in your own hearts, for home and country?, when you actually, in all real terms, don't have one? So, really, who are these people?

The Covenant Chain was a series of alliances and treaties developed during the seventeenth century, primarily between the Iroquois Confederacy (Haudenosaunee) and the British colonies of North America, with other Native American tribes added. First developed in the New York area at a time of violence and social instability for the colonies and Native Americans, the English and Iroquois councils and subsequent treaties were based on supporting peace and stability to preserve trade. They addressed issues of colonial settlement, and tried to suppress violence between the colonists and Indian tribes, as well as among the tribes, from New England to the Colony of Virginia.

In June 2010, Queen Elizabeth II of Canada renewed the Covenant Chain Treaties by presenting 8 silver hand bells each to Band Chiefs from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory and Six Nations of the Grand River in commemoration of 300 years of the Covenant Chain. The bells were inscribed "The Silver Chain of Friendship 1710-2010" (which was a common term often used throughout history when the Chain was renewed). This marks the most modern renewal of the Covenant Chain Treaties between the Haudenosaunee and the Crown of Canada and provides a legal basis for recognition of Haudenosaunee sovereignty and international trade between the two nations.

We also read the Americans all lie about the “war” of 1812? They all claim they won? LOL, Again it's nothing but backward US propaganda!. Britain stopped the USA from expanding through Canada in 1812. The USA attacked, and they tried to take Canada in 1812, but they failed dismally, as the British had known about it through their intelligence sources, so were prepared for them. During the War of 1812, First Nations warriors and Métis fighters played important roles in the defence of these British territories against invading American forces. Thousands of First Nations warriors and Métis fighters fought beside British troops and Canadian settler militias during the war. The British had armed and trained the local Canadian townsfolk, as well as the Canadian Native Indian in the frontiers. When the USA did attack, they were repelled and given a roasting, therefore preventing the USA from ever being able to expand into Canada.

All peoples whom believe they are indigenous to North America are wrong. Human development began in southwest Asia and migrated out from there. So, no, you have not always been here and there is no way to know if your people were the first to colonize the continent. Your people pushed my people out of the forests and on to the plains. So, you weren't always where you claim. Just as the European came and conquered the continent your people conquered lands from us. You are as oriental as the white man. How was that process for you? My grandmother was Potawatomi and I’ve been wanting to reconnect with the tribe my whole life. I just don’t know how or what steps to take to begin that step of my journey

​@@katlynharper6810 What band of Potawatomi was your grandmother? If you google there is not very many of us knowing the state she is from will help. Different bands are treated as different tribes at this point but hopefully that changes someday and we all communicate together. Each Band has different rules for membership aswell but even if you don't meet the membership requirements you should know about the 7 generations teachings. Everyone contributed to creating you or raising you is connected. Understanding helps you heal and stop carrying the pain your family carries and do better for the next 7 generations. Looking at the past 7 generations of ancestors and addressing and healing the intergenerational trauma is an amazing practice.

And some people on this post acts like it just started when the Europeans came. Just incredibly stupid.
