Warning: Some massive spoilers in this video and a story that should be enjoyed in game. To see it, do the 3 major stories in the 3 zones of Zandalar. For those sticking around, this is the major ending for the Horde story in 8.0.1. After dealing with the threats that pushed princes Talanji in seeking the aid of the Horde, we're left with Prophet Zul working on his schemes &

Considering that he is the WoW equivalent of Baron Samedi from Hawaian mythology, they are actually spot on with his character. Baron Samedi is known as being crass, laid-back, partying, and a bit of a flippant drunk. Had they made him anything other than what he is in the game, I would have been disappointed.

+imago I won't deny there may have been some visual inspiration, but being hunched over and having crazy hair is what trolls have always been about. Personality-wise I don't see much of a difference since Cataclysm either, only embellishment. Your claim of him being "almost a straight ripoff" is not well motivated.

Eh, best newer character perhaps (even tho I doubt we will see detailed development of him. Bwon is a plot device character, he won't be a central character like Sylvanas, etc) ... but overall, this goes to Jaina and her development.

Kiji Indeed. But i dont think they will bring him back, it seems they are just using his journey to mirror some of the choices and crisis of our current characters on the spotlight, and how each one respond to them. That and the foreshadowing of a Lich King Bolvar possibly becoming more active in the not too far future.

In a way, Kul Tiras ends up becoming more powerful than it was during the beginning, while Zandalar enda up a bit weaker at the end of the quest

I think this was to balance out power. Kul Tiras was probably way weaker than Zandalar when the Alliance got there, and the Alliance story-line is about returning their strength, while the Horde was there in Zandalar to make sure the Zandalari weren't erradicated by the advance of an Old God. So with Kul Tiras strengthened and Zandalar weakened, they may both be on equal terms for war now. It also makes sense since the Alliance wasn't really fighting the will and power of an Old God as the Horde was, so its natural that the Horde would not have a completely positive victory like the Alliance did. I'm not saying by any means that one faction is weaker than the other, only that their respective endings were fitting for the type of threat they were facing.

You ask me, he is the *best* choice in a time of war. When you make a deal with him he sides with you and stays on your side so long as you keep your end of the bargain. That, and he likes getting souls of the dead to fall under his care, since he becomes more powerful the more souls he has with him. And what season brings more souls and death than any other? War.

Edward Ness Well for one that's not a loosing side. If anything all Trolls go there. Every single troll soul goes to Bwonsamdi in their afterlife. Except that when its about Bwonsamdi's priests they can be called back at any point to aid Bwonsamdi when he needs them, like we see in the Kel'Vax quest-line of Nazmir. Rastakhan basically gave himself the extra bit that the priests of Bwonsamdi get. But that doesn't mean he's going to suffer, nor that he wasn't going to end up with him if he hadn't made the deal. This is Bwonsamdi we're talking about, not the Lich King. Just because you are a Death God doesn't make you evil or like the Lich King in any way.

Hmm... You brought up an interesting point Nobbel. Both Horde and Alliance have the high authority family of their respective allies bound or related to a realm of death... What if this plays up to be a power boost for a possible Return of the Lich King expansion, but since we have no Tirion and no Ashbringer, instead the Horde brings the Loa of Death and the Alliance the Drust?

Two questions: 1) Just to confirm, is the final say that G'huun is NOT a full Old God? I remember that being a big question through the beta. 2) Why do they keep playing Bwonsamdi as a comedic villain? We've seen him before, especially through Vol'jin, and he actually seemed like one of the nicer Loa, more of just a trickster, rather than full-on evil.

1. Artificial Old God - an accident created by Titans when they were searching for a way to remove Old Gods without destroying Azeroth in process. 2. He isn't a villain, in D&D terms he is lawful neutral, natural order has to be kept. Like when you die while in Zandalar he tells you it's not your time yet.

to me he is like a mix of Ryuk and Hades from Disney's Hercules lol. Overall though, he seems well written and that was my beef with wow over the past few xpacs, decent lore but terrible writing so this is definitely a plus hehe.

I feel like the alliance got a satisfying end to their stories, and got like a full fledged storyline. The horde really didnt get much of that stuff and a much quicker Questline i feel like in the end.

A little bummed there was 40min worth for the Alliance only a 12min "Welp this happened" for the Horde, but I'm gonna assume it's not to do with bias and more to do with what's relevant. I suppose the Horde is getting enough limelight through other means

Fulken Thing is, Bwonsamdi is the God of *Death* not undeath. He explicitly expresses how he thinks undead are an abomination while questing in Nazmir, and his job is to keep souls under his care during their afterlife (and the more souls there are under his care, the more powerful he becomes), not raising an undead army to conquer the world like the Lich King. If anything, I think Bwonsamdi would actively work against the Lich King, at least for some revenge for taking the souls of Troll Death Knights away from him.

One of the greatest empires on Azeroth fell in to the hands of the idiot king Rastakhan. Not only did he allow all of this happen in regards to G'huun but now the only way his blood line isn't utterly screwed is if we make a bigger deal with Bwonsamdi or kill him. We show up on the door step to a dumpster fire for the ages.

Yeah, when I completed this story line on my DK, my first thought was 'So...I need to purge the Zandalari bloodline, cause I don't trust Bwosamdi.' I still don't really trust that, like most deals with the lord of the dead, that this won't have something backfire and be worse.

I haven't played as horde yet in this expansion and I wanted to ask if there are any titanforged guardians in dazar'alor, because I haven't noticed anything. I know there are some guardians in Uldir, but wouldn't it be weird for the Titans to make 3 seals and leave them unprotected?

Haven't played any of the Horde stuff. What exactly happens with Mythrax after the cutscene? It obliterates the seal, and the next moment Bwomsamdi is saying congratulation as if Mythrax has used vanish

I loved the way this quest had the zones all come together. It was an epic ending, and it was fantastic to see all the loa and characters we had quested with in one place. It made the questing feel real and important. However. I am *extremely* disappointed in Zul's portrayal here. "He was corrupted by Old Gods!" is a horrible, lazy, and overused way to write villains. In Cata and MoP he was a well intentioned villain who genuinely wanted to make trolls great again. He had sympathetic motives, you could understand where he was coming from. But BfA tossed all of that aside just to make him a generic Old God cultist laughing about the end of the world. A terrible waste of what was once a cool character. So, cool quest. Absolutely. But what they did to Zul was awful.

I found it pretty bad that literally in the 2 quest after the intro you get told that hes the bad guy even before I helped him in a quest like yeah if you did the other zones you could already guess that hes the main villain but cmon, did not care at all for this character. For people who played MoP it might be something different but I only got to knew him there had no idea about his backstory and suddenly hey hes the villain ... except from some minor flaws (e.g did i miss the horde in the end quest?) i found the story great and all but somehow the alliance one even though many ppl will probably find it worse got me way more immersed because i cared much more for the characters

I don't know. Zul wants the troll empire again. His king didn't and his quest to rebuilt it has failed 2 times pretty hard. G'huun offers him and the other blood trolls power (ya know, what Old Gods do) and he seems to see his next chance to bring the troll back to power. Doesn't seem that out of character for me. He has failed so many times so hard and his king basically didn't care at all, desperation always leads to the Old Gods. It's not like he was a good guy that got corrupted and became bad.

Except that's not at all how he acts though. Look at the second cinematic in this video, he's talking about creating a kingdom of ash. In the cutscene when he betrays Rastakhan, he talks about "the TRUE god", and in the cutscene where he kills Rezan he yells about "the time of blood has come!". There's nothing about helping trolls there, it's pure generic Old God cultist. Zul was always a villain, but before BfA he was a villain who you could sympathize with and understand why he was doing what he was doing, even if he was extreme in doing it. Now he's just a lackey trying to free an Old God, something we've seen a dozen times before.

The bloos magic is what trolls has been practicing in the past. Hakkar is known to be one of the most important religios entities in troll culture from classic, thus he is eager to help blood trolls and G'huun. Zul wants to rebuild the empire and acts on his own, for the future of the trolls as he sees it.

@Nobbel87 could you please do a video about the all the troll loa and how they work like can they be killed for good or do they get reincarnated when they die and until then there spirit is just waiting for another physical body or it also looks like all the animals loa have children would one of them get the powers of there parent or when a loa dies are they just gone for good? So the blood God is free and nezoth the God who remade azshara in his image is now also entering the play. Things have a big chance of getting really interesting. And if nezoth the God who remade azshara remade her, what other things have he done and influenced besides azshara?
