Sounds like Duncan MacPherson case. He went missing on a ski field and was found in the snow 14 years later frozen and had amputated limbs. So the leading theory is he was run over by a snowcat and instead of reporting it, the driver covered him up
@@marissah1336 I guess they just ran him over and they were too scared to stop and check on him. Even if it was accident (skier appearing outside the ski track) and not careless driving, the thought of being held accountable made them shut up and hide. And carry that weight for life.
My mother has a tracker on me, and her own mother. I'm an adult. I realize now- yeah this is helpful. Annoying, but helpful. Especially due to being a minority in American slums.
I don’t know what the technology was like back then, but I figure that’s why there wasn’t a tracker on Brian. Definitely nowadays there’s no excuse to not take such precautions.
I would imagine if he were falling, sliding etc his last words would have have the exclamation that he was doing that followed by a splash or thud none of which were heard. Now if his scent was detected on farming equipment I don't see how a warrant was not issued considering he was a missing person.
I think if they had gotten a court order to search the farm they probably would´ve found him. Obviously the cops there didn´t really care to do their jobs tho, as they´re known to do.
Hey BionicPig, i just wanted to let you know that i have really liked these videos, but i've also really liked your past content as well. Despite having watched multiple people cover this case, i still watched your entire video through because you have a unique way of telling the story. Your videos are always a blast :) Just make whatever content you want and it'll still be great because you bring a certain flair to whatever you cover. Sorry for how long-winded this was.
Just found this scrolling through videos; as a city kid with country cousins, is it possible he fell into an unmarked farm well? I almost fell into one when I was 7. Just observing.
4th Theory, he feel down an abandoned well out in one of those fields, you know how they go sometimes. Well torn down, hole just covered by some plywood or logs.. He didn't see it walking around at night and fell in with an "oh sh*t!"
What if what he saw wasnt lights of town but of privat property a farm and he shouted oh shit cos he suddenly saw someone? Maybe pointing a gun at him? Dont know why his father hasnt heard a thing after that, tho
Mr. Pig, it really is a shame that you don't get more engagement. The way you explain things truly feels like I'm having a friend tell me a story, and the content you choose is super compelling.
I mean another alternative to that last theory is the farmer saw him probably from a distance mistaking him as a thief or maybe an animal trying to get to his crops or animals. Shoot Brandon and soon discovered it was just an innocent kid and panics and hides the evidence to avoid trouble. Now people can argue that the parents would have heard a shot, much like they would heard their son falling into the river, etc. However, all we have is what the parents told us they heard during that phone call and the fact is human memories are unreliable. There could have been many possible factors that could have resulted in the parents not hearing an important clue during the event and when confronted with trying to fully retell what had happened. Their brains do what all brains do and that is try and fill in the gaps resulting in them thinking that they had a perfect hearing on the phone for a few minutes when it a reality that might not be what exactly happened.
@@Lurker381 no matter what happened, the parents must have heard *something*. they were able to hear the river, so its not like the phone had a super small pickup range. footsteps, him cursing or shouting, a splash from falling into the river, anything.
@@Lurker381 I did have that thought, but then you have to remember we only have what the parents told us they heard on the phone, and human memories are unreliable. So it could be possible that the phone call wasn't that clear at all or there was a break-up during the audio, or heck it can be possible that the phone did cut off, but cause the parents were in such a panic they mistook static as river sounds and footsteps. It is very easy for a parent who is panicking about what happened to their kid that they aren't thinking clearly so when confronted on telling people what they remember their memories try to fill in the blanks resulting in them claiming the phone call was clear and they heard everything when that might not have been the case.
Several farmers did not allow the police to search their land, most likely because the police often destroy and dig up the field without regard for the owner.
Contrary to popular belief, scent dogs aren’t 100% accurate. Especially when you take into account that the dogs first went to the water at which point if the subject has entered the water most of his scent will be diminished.
Scent dogs are actually kinda shit if you look into it. They do false positives and negatives all the time. Cops know this, that's why they try to err on the side of caution because if enough things go to court based on a dog's ability to find evidence, it would get to the point where police dogs were discredited so much that they can't get a search warrant based on their activities again.
As a parent and a person with an irrational fear of disappearing without a trace, this is my worst nightmare. I cannot fathom what his parents went through.
As awful as it would be to know your child was dead, I feel like it would be worse to know nothing. Thinking maybe they’re alive somewhere and suffering but having hope they’ll come home.
I dont know how the law works very well, but it sounds like they should have tried to get some kind of warrant for that farm property. I guess they probably couldnt, since there wasnt any evidence of foul play, but I would think the scent on the equipment would have to count for something... His family could have probably gotten some answers if they had searched that property. :(
The fact that there was no body, no clothes, phone or whatsoever, makes it really scary. Poor kid. 😢 And man, not being alone in the dark.. that's a fear that sticks with me to this day. 😨
10:01 as stupid as it sounds, you do have the right to disappear. Now given the context he was very obviously not exercising that right and was in deep distress. So police using a legitimate thing in an instance it was not applicable so they could be lazy, surprise surprise.
Ending the call on "Oh shit" is terrifying. It really leaves it up for the debate what could've happened to him, however it doesn't make sense to me that he'd say oh shit if he fell in the lake or was ambushed by a farmer. It seems to me more like he saw something or someone which caused him to say "Oh shit", but I don't know, maybe I'm reading too much horror stories lmao
i think it was the farmer. they often have tranquilizer darts for cattle, brandon would of felt a sting, and had enough time to say "oh shit" before it put him to sleep. if the farmer was competent he would of waited for the phonecall to end in complete silence, plus he would know the land well enough, to be able to get ahead of brandon to set an ambush. would also explain why theres no body, or any evidence... except for on the farming equipment. plus. where did the phone go? and all brandons clothes? there would be signs if it was a natural death. this seems like it was scrubbed clean.
I was always told to keep a blanket, some water and a couple of granola bars in your car so if something like this happens you can stay with the car until you’re found.
Please make more videos like this!! I like how you formatted the story. Stories like this one are always so spooky to me because of how easy it seems to just simply vanish without a trace
It is strange how Brandon instantly disappeared from the face of the Earth. The fact that the last words that his parents heard were "Oh, Sh*t". Don't know what he saw that made him say those words. It could be that he did encounter some dangerous individuals on his way, and ended up getting kidnapped. I also find very suspicious that the farmer says "no", when they asked to search for his equipment. It is like that he's been erased from existence by some entity or something.
The phonecall going on after those last words makes it all the more confusing; if the river was the culprit, why wasn't there a splash heard on the phone? If it was a farmer, why no gunshot? If he just fell or was knocked out, why no footsteps or "thud" of a body? Plus, the fact that he was able to scream out means he must've seen/heard/felt whatever it was that got to him ahead of time, so he wasn't entirely taken by surprise. Saw a few other comments mention tranquilizer guns, which could work, but I always thought they take quite a bit of time before they actually knock someone out cold. Whatever the case, this really reeks of foul play.
as someone who grew up in RURAL rural minnesota, it is super plausible someone was following him without him knowing, even if he has perfect eyesight. besides that though, people go missing here all the time. it actually terrified me as a kid to the point that even driving in the woods with my parents freaked me out, i was convinced we were gonna die. ESPECIALLY in northern minnesota, where you hear all the creature stories and terrifying real traumas people have with the supernatural.
I lived in extremely rural iowa next to the mn border. I absolutely agree. Once you leave those barely lit streetlamps, all you have to see with are your car headlights. And they dont help in all that vast darkness
What if what he saw wasnt lights of town but of privat property a farm and he shouted oh shit cos he suddenly saw someone? Maybe pointing a gun at him? Dont know why his father hasnt heard a thing after that, tho.
I remember watching this video that has stuck me for while about a guy exploring this rocky desert area somewhere west because some vloggers ended disappearing in that area so he volunteered to find them because he knew it well and in crazy turn of events he also ended up disappearing with his phone discovered abandoned in the middle of the landscape. Theory’s suggested that he was secretly depressed about life at the time because of his history in the military and possibly found the most remote part of the landscape where he knew he would never be found to off himself so his family can still legally get the life insurance.
I feel like he saw someone suddenly and said "oh shit", maybe dropped the phone, maybe the person either scared him quiet or somehow was able to get his attention away from the phone. Just feels like a human had to be involved or the body would have been found right?
6 mins in and I'm loving it! I've mostly seen your movie review stuff, didn't know you covered stories like this too! The editing and story telling are great!
Another theory is that Brandon may have fallen into something like a disused well or a sinkhole. I've watched a lot of videos on this subject, but yours is the only one that went the extra step of helping us to visualize what the backroads of Minnesota actually look like. Great job!
i live in MN and backroads are terrifying. it’s pitch black, there’s so many tight turns, and you really need to be alert to make sure you don’t hit possible wild life. i feel so bad for brandon
Pig. This video really got to me. I live in a small town in Northern MN, and one of my close friends was found in a cornfield... not going to give full details for her respect..but after she had ..gone..she was left In said cornfield field and was found after a farmer had ran her down with a corn combine. Also, my last name is Swanson. Hit home.
Yeah. Im from NW IN outside of Chicago and ny mom lives in central middle of nowhere Indiana and i went to Purdue in West Lafayette 2001-2003 before cell phones having maps and whatnot and i can't tell you how many times i had to detour because of road work or bad weather or roads being washed out from high water and had gotten lost. You think you are going the right way but then the country road ends and you turn and that doesn't go through and desd ends at a field and so you keep going making turns and then you forgot what direction you are traveling. I still like to look at maps and plan my routes before i go anywhere just incase my phone doesn't work or dies or i have no wifi. And i keep an atlas in my trunk.
Here's what I think may have happened! I think it's still the farmer theory. I was speculating, and it seems likely that it could have been accidental. Some farmers are up late at night/early in the morning. If they're using larger combines, it's possible that the farmer may not have even seen him. The parents may not have even heard it should it be like a tractor or combine. They're large machines, but 2008 phones also weren't that amazing. Human memory is also unreliable. It's possible that the parents may have even picked up on it while on the phone but not remembered. If Brandon had visual issues and drank enough where he wound up crashing his car and wound up 30miles away from where he though, it's possible that he wasn't coherent enough to notice a vehicle coming through crops. It's possible that it was more of an "oh shit (what is that coming towards me?)" and then it was enough to smack him down. It's hard to say, but I think the farmer theory definitely tracks in one way or another. Especially with how he told the police he wasn't going to cooperate. Not cooperating isn't inherently suspicious, but there are too many chips in place for it to mean nothing.
I have a genuine question as to why no one suspects wildlife especially if it was in a remote area. granted one could suspect that there would be blood, torn clothing or other evidence, but he could have seen eyes reflected in whatever light he had, panicked, and then fled and fell into the river or whatever else. Apparently its not uncommon for them to wander near agricultural zones to snack on corn and the like.
If that were the case I feel like they would’ve at least found the phone, since it was on the whole time. Also, it wouldn’t explain his scent on the farmers equipment.
Though I'm fairly new to this community /channel,, after watching this piece, I just could not eave the page without expressing thanks and praise to the creator. This video is absolutely *fantastic* - thoroughly intriguing, suspenseful and so well-put together. I've yet to catch a livestream, but I've watched a fair number of videos, and it's always a good time (even if the subjects in the stories might be having a bad time...). Point being, I really enjoyed this video, and hope you make more of these (along with any other content you like /prefer making, of course). And though I can only imagine the amount of hard work and effort that goes into these videos -well - the results speak for themselves, I think.
Not necessarily, a lot of farmers do not trust law enforcement(understandably); when the farmer said no the cops, being lazy, probably just decided he was a disgruntled farmer who didn’t like cops and that they’d have an easier time leaving him alone. Should they have gotten a warrant bc of the scent? Absolutely. But saying no doesn’t make you a suspect, especially if you come from a community with a reputation for not trusting cops.
Right very weird why someone would say no to searching his fields. And yes I get and understand someone not trusting law enforcement for whatever reason. But even if you don’t trust them I still think it’s weird they would deny a search for a missing person who could have wandered thru one of your fields.
Maybe Brandon was more drunk than initially anticipated, so he crashes and drops his phone breaking it. He wanders into a farmers property and the farmer is scared and enacts the “stand your ground law” and shoots him in an over reaction. Then hides his body
My friend always believed that a farmer could have seen him walking thru the his property and assumed it was a robber or someone with bad intentions and shot and killed him. That’s why his body has never been found. You’d think it eventually would have turned up if he ended up in some hole or well by now.
@chask420 these people would never come forward with this even if they felt justified. Paranoid stand your ground farmers aren't exactly the most trusting of law enforcement or the government. It's laughably possible that one of these people would "justifiably" shoot some random person in the dark with zero warning then hide the body or feed it to pigs without thinking it was a good idea to tell the police or government (who are "totally" out to get them and are part of some worldwide conspiracy)
This was covered by Morbid on Spotify and that's what brought me to your video They definitely needed to search the farmer's property. I live in the country also and anyone running across my property at 2am is gonna be shot at, also. Mainly bc we don't have a police dept, we also have had 2 bodies found on My road before, and we have a prison that has had people escape just 8 miles away. We are encouraged to carry out here and I have children to protect.
6:20 it was at this moment I knew. He got shot. I may not live in Minnesota, but I do live in the Midwest, and the second I heard he crossed someone’s farm land I thought “Oop farmer shot him for being on his property.” Running across someone else’s land at 2 in the morning is a 10/10 way to get shot depending on the farmer. The fact that farmer didn’t want to search, ya no, accidental killing followed up by purposeful coverup.
I'm a little late lol but I agree. I live in the country and if someone runs across my yard especially at 2am, they'll probably be shot at, also. We've had way too many bodies found and people from a nearby prison breaking out, I have kids and don't take chances!
I don’t usually comment, but I wanted to say that I have been watching you for a while, and I love the new content. Thank you for making videos. I really appreciate it.
i wish it would be possible to hear the audio from the call. And him getting shot doesn't make sense. His phone was still on with his parents listening
Wasnt there also a theory that the cops themselves butchered the investigation because the farmer had some type of connection with the cops ( was a relative of the chief of police) or am i thinking of a different missing persons case?
@@RDplayz yeah kidnapping never happens😂🤦🏻♂️! Never said it was rationale or happened but if your kid went missing your mind would create irrational situations im sure! Why would a husband drug his wife and let people rape her?… in France just now. Why would someone go commit mass murder by shooting up a school? Why do people rape/murder?……Why would anyone do anything?!
Why his parents didn’t tell him to just stay in or near his vehicle. Seems like the safest thing to do. Or atleast stay on the roads. But what if he fell or tripped and was knocked out and then the farmer ran him over with his equipment and then disposed of his body after running him over?? That or the main theory majority of people think he ended up in some type of hole or well.
Hate missing ppl cases my uncles friend went missing 4 years ago and we still don’t know what happened to her and me and my family would have thanksgiving w her mother who ended up dying not that long ago. Makes me so irritated
My dyslexic ass read the title as "disappears while on a plane" which would admittedly be even more mysterious. But this was still a great video, good job
One thing that is ALWAYS left out of videos on this case is that he was underage and already had one DUI on his record. This obviously as the video does state was why he chose to take the backroads that night. It could also explain his lack of sense of direction. Unfortunately that is all it explains in this case.
Nothing to say other then I personally think it's completely reasonable for a tipsy, half blind teenager in the dark to not notice someone following him
A lot of farmers do not trust law enforcement. The cops, being lazy as they often are, decided he was probably an old grouchy farmer who didn’t like cops and that *they*(the cops)would have an easier time leaving the farmer alone. They absolutely should have gotten a warrant to search the property based on scent alone but cops are lazy and if you’re white and don’t like them and they don’t have enough reason to bother you they’ll just leave you alone for their own sake.
Ooo! Honestly this is really well done! I hope to see more of your own true crime videos because they’re super entertaining! Love the way you tell the story
Having a weird Mandela effect moment now, I could have sworn I watched a video on this case a while ago and it ended up that he fell into a well in the field he was crossing through, explaining his sudden exclamation and then silence. Most likely this was just a theory that was presented or a different missing persons case but I feel like it is a very reasonable explanation.
