having to interactively sync up voodoo chile myself mightve made this all the more impressive, it says a LOT about polyphonic’s writing and timing and it’s beautiful!
Exactly! THIS should be the practice going forward. If the labels/artists/families wanna get greedy they can get my $.0002 from the spotify pool rather than trying to rob these guys making great content.
This was simply epic! Really, the editing, the info, the music (that I played accordingly to your instruction), damn. Forget about playthroughs or pointless blogs/vlogs, this is the true quaility content we deserve. Congrat, man. I'll hit you at patreon as soon as I can!
That was fucking cool. I got it to sync perfectly and it was awesome. Knowing that it was two different sources in sync, being able to adjust the volume levels to taste, gave the experience this frission it definitely wouldn't have had if the music had been normal background. Probably not easy for folks on mobile, but whatever with them. :D
Agreed! I could get the volume just right and follow along while I adjusted. If you’ve got the resources and space to enjoy it that way, it really is nice!
I've been watching this channel since pretty much the beginning, and this video is definitely your masterpiece. I played it with the song really loud, immersed in the soundscape complemented by your visuals and with the commentary just cutting through the mix when the song gets quieter. It was a great experience.
HOW IS THIS CONTENT FREE Having to sync the track myself definitely enhanced the experience ad made your amazing work even more noticeable. Good job man, keep up the awesome work
Jimi’s Cherokee grandmother had one of the best quotes about Jimi I’ve ever heard. She said,” Jimi took the Southern Delta Blues to Saturn.” She ain’t wrong.
Sync it up. Absolutely worth it. Seriously though, I have been effusive in my praise before but damn Poly, this is simply a phenomenal experience. You are so eloquent and poetic in your essays and I can't help but come away with a new appreciation of the song/artist because of how insightfully you've talked about them, even loving them before I walk away loving them even more. One of my favourite and best content producers on RU-vid.
okay but the sync is perfectly timed. i've heard "voodoo chile" countless times so i was so shocked how much the video synced up while playing it. i almost forgot i was playing it through spotify, not through this video. like when the lyrics in the video synced up it was wild, but when you mentioned the guitar solos and instrumental breaks etc at the exact time it was wild
Mixing this with spotofiy is so cool, something different from usual. Man you just know how to make your videos unique, it goes together so good (specially that the guitars are panned and you are talking in the middle ) + you don´t need to be afraid of dmca :D
the interactive part of this video really made me realize the huge amount of effort put into these videos, and it almost made this whole thing feel like a fun course or activity you would see at a music museum, its so beautiful!
The way me playing the song on spotify heightened the experience dramatically, it was almost if you were invoking Hendrix to play, the solos began right when you mentioned them. well done!
For me, this tune has always been THE ultimate guitar tone. From the first notes, it's powerful yet relatively clean. Then he dials it up and it's searing and dripping with sustain. It's one of the greatest performances ever.
Totally agree! Yes there are amazing guitarists who are both his contemporaries and others who followed after his death, but Jimi Hendrix is the complete package.
@@mr.mustang656 stevie didn’t make albums like Jimi tho and Jimi was doing it before playing the guitar like that was even normal the god father of distortion
@@h3ck774 Jimi would have been better if the albums had higher production quality, i just dont like how bad the production quality is thats what really makes srv albums better to me
It synced up perfectly. Nice job! Hendrix is sadly fading to all but a few music nerds, because of the short sighted estate that blocks these kinds of visual love letters to the man and his music.
TBH, I really liked this interactive format. On another topic: I love to see all of the places that Steve Winwood pops up. Any thought in doing a video on him? Great job!!!
I'm bginning 2 blieve, there r those out there, n power, dat wished 2 hurt Mitchell, 4 having da audacity 2 play bhind a SO CALLED black man. SINce they viewed it azz a waste of talent, they wanted 2 make sure, dat he'd git no accoladeZZZzzzzzz. Therez no otha reason, I can c Mitch, being so obscurred!
I don't know what really happened, but this video (after following the instructions and playing the song along) literally just snapped me out of a depressive episode. Holy shit this was one of the greatest things I've seen and heard.
I watched this video along with the song as suggested, while high, and it started thundering almost immediately as the song began playing. Best youtube experience I’ve had
the experience when you said he added the sound of his audience clapping, oh fuck... in the song people were clapping in song (played on Spotify) idk why but this amazing; made the hair on my neck stand up. I couldn't hear much, but te feeling I got listening to him playing was... I don't know how to describe it it took me to another dimension, idk if u understand it but it did.
Just wow. I had chills listening to the song, while watching your amazing visuals and spot on commentary. Literally got the goosegumps the whole way through. Hope you do more of these!!
This video style is REVOLUTIONARY you've just made a literal lifeline to every music/film channel giving the fans of each channel a REAL role beyond like and subscribe BS
I got it synced perfectly and was just impressed how everything flowed perfectly. I loved the interactive aspect to this video! really impressive how you turned something that was an inconvenience to something different and interestingly new.
You've done it, polyphonic. That's the best music video essay I've ever experienced. Even though I know full well that you built your video around the song, simply having it play on my phone as I watch your video on the TV and having everything match up so well was just so magical.
Love this format! Would love to see you do this kind of video more often. Maybe one of the longer pieces by Bob Dylan? Or maybe selections from jazz like Bitches Brew?
There’s something just really comedic watching this without the music breaks lol, fantastic video btw just after watching so many of these it gets to me, cheers to a great channel man
The interactivity was fun! I agree with other commenters, I didn't mind having to play the song myself. Your videos are so amazing and beautiful, it was really cool to have it pointed out how much you think about every single frame. I think syncing the music ourselves just made it more obvious how much work goes into this.
The modern musician that, for me, captures Hendrix's vibe the most is Fantastic Negrito. The man is legendary. He had a coma and partially lost the movement of a hand (that he now calls it "The claw"). And his song "Lost in a Crowd" shows how he felt after recovering from the coma. Definitely recommend everyone to give him a listen
I actually really enjoyed that! Getting out the record and timing it with your countdown, and then seeing the first words come up right as he sings them....it was a weird experience but made the whole thing more engaging for sure. I think you should do more of these for content blockers, that was fun!
Apart from the mid-roll ad that forced a restart on the operation, this was fricken amazing! I'd recommend about 60-70% Spotify volume with full RU-vid volume so the loud parts don't overrun the commentary
I’ve always loved the lyrics “a mountain Lion found me, and put me on an Eagles wing” and I’ll tell you why. The Lion is the national symbol of Britain, you’ll see lion statues etc everywhere in England. From coats of arms all the way to the England football team. He was picked up and took to Britain…they made him big and put him on the wing of the Americas national symbol. The Eagle. That’s how I listen to it. I may be wrong but it’s an amazing lyric if I’m right 😊 regardless I’ll always listen to the song that way
holy shit dude this might be the way forward for music analysis on this platform: _listen-alongs_ where the viewer can play the song on their own terms alongside the video, tweaking the relative volumes of each audio track if necessary, playing the song on whatever medium they prefer, free from RU-vid compression or copyright-dodging edits that chop up the music out of necessity. magnificent solution to the problem, and honestly I might personally prefer it to having the song embedded into the video
i mean just... Woah like... every single moment in my life brought me to being recommended to this video and since fortunately for me i own a copy of this truly Historic album, playing on my speakers The way your video synchronized the lyrics popping up with Voodo Chile playing on the CD The way you mentioned the boundless talent of each musician just before they showed what they were all about with their instruments This was not an ordinary youtube video, this was an experience! Yeah so you had to remove the music from your video, but you still went on so as to not displease your audience. And look what the audience gained! Your video oozed authenticity and creativity to the point where it was more than just a visual representation of information. It was a whole experience man! When one door closed, another opened. Thank you for this experience Polyphonic, you have earned yourself a subscriber yet you are deserving of thousands more!
the fact that it's not coming from the video but from Spotify makes it sound like you're calling on the spirit of the voodoo child himself. Very Well done!!!
I went over to Nebula and watched it. This is just incredible. Thanks for reminding me of the first time I listened to this song as an 80s teenager sitting in slack-jawed wonderment.
I actually really enjoyed the fact that I could put in the music - thanks in part to the Hendrix Estate - but it give something kinda magic to this experience. Great job, as usual!
This is fantastic, man. Had to get the song on in the background and I'm amazed at how perfectly paced your script is, never leaving dead air in the longer sections and never rushing to get everything you want to say in there when the song gets a little more intense. Great work dude.
I just discovered the Polyphonic channel a few days ago. I synced up Voodoo Chile on Spotify and hit "play" on the countdown. Wow! That was amazing interactive video. I can't say I was a fan of Hendrix until now (I always enjoyed the classics like "Purple Haze" and loved Steve Ray Vaughan's cover of "Voodoo Chile-Slight Return"). Finally, I understand why some people hold him in regard as the greatest ever. This was an inspiring music lesson as I get ready to go to my own guitar lesson this morning.
Utterly masterful, I sometimes need to remind myself that content this good is free (besides just a little bit of finessing my music player to get this particular vid in sync, which I don't really mind at all)
I actually loved this format. You should do more of these in additional to your regular format. I didn't think it could but this channel just got even better.
im not gonna lie....this was the best video ive watched on youtube ever, and the fact that it was about my favourite musician just added to it Excellent!
The sync experience is amazing! I played the track on my 5.1 speakers and the video on my phone. The result was having the the music engulfing the video. Great work man. The video is amazing as always.
ngl, I really enjoyed this even with having spotify open while doing it. I think I liked the interactive aspect of this video, but yeah, awesome job dude!
This was fantastic. How the video and the music lined up underlines how fantastic your timing is in these videos. I can't imagine how much effort you must have put into making it seem that effortless, but however long it took, it was worth it. Keep it up!
this was the best piece of content I have ever experienced on YT!!!! and syncing up the song myself pulled me in even more! thank you so much for this incredible experience and I hope you can create more interactive content like this in the future!!!
That was actually a _REALLY_ cool way to pair music and video. I ran the music through my main stereo, cranked, and had the narration on my iPad. I paid such close attention to everything because I wanted to see if I synced things up right with your video. This was actually really fun! More of this, I say!
I didn't need any links. This song was burnt into my brain around 1971. Forty years later I can still visualise the video it didn't have while remembering the sounds. A Masterpiece! (Puts LP on just because.)
I got out of bed to try and sync up Voodoo Chile to this video and couldn’t find the original recording. I only found slight return and it didn’t sync up at all. I’m disappointed that I got out of bed for this. Imma lay back down! Thanks Polyphonic…
love these kinds of videos... I think you hit upon something special here poly, wonderful job. does this format only work with longer songs though? would love to see one for A Day in the Life
Very clever workaround and amazing editing. I think having to push play at exact moment underscores the editing efforts and creates appreciation for the work put into this.
