Isn’t it strange that both this, and Static Shock, were huge successes that just kinda got left in their time?

Man do I miss this show. Truly one of the most futuristic animated shows ever and Terry McGinnis is a character that deserves a live-action film for his character because it would be epic.

Losing Kevin Conroy really puts a damper on any future Batman Beyond material too, at least for now. I always thought Rocksteady could have done an amazing job bringing Terry into the Arkham world with a game set in his time, they'd really be able to make fans appreciate villains like Blight and Inque

"It's Not Batman That Makes You Worthwhile. It's The Other Way Around." When Bruce said this quote it felt like Terry really earned it from a writing perspective. He was set up, established and explored so well that he really earned the cowl. A good successor to Bruce. That was my favorite part. He could stand on his own. I hope we see Terry again on the big or small screen.

Fun fact: Will Friedle said he recorded the final episode the same day he filmed the final episode of Boy Meets World.

I always considered Return of The Joker to be a more satisfying conclusion while Epilogue was a satisfying ending for the DCAU, pre Darkseid return

This and Batman the Animated Series will always be the best Batman content ever created!!!

This was an amazing show. I'm glad we got three seasons. I'm honestly not surprised about the lack of a finale as most of the animated shows back in the day never got a proper finale. 90's spider-man is a prime example of this. Show literally ends on a cliff hanger.

Most fans would balk at the idea of there being any kind of successor to any of the classic DC heroes, so it's nice to know that Terry has been overall well-received by audiences 😊

I saw this show as a kid 20 years ago without knowing anything about batman and it was really amazing. I think they created a futuristic film noir animated show that worked own its own and when you understand the batman universe you can appreciate it even more

Now that Michael Keaton has aged like fine wine to about Bruce Wayne's age in Beyond, I hope he gets the chance to be old Bruce in a live action take of Batman Beyond, even though I think Kevin Conroy would've nailed it even more after seeing him in the CW Crisis event.

Terry is essentially the Yusuke Urameshi of the DCAU, and we love him for it.

I love Batman Beyond. It was such a good show. As cool as it would have been to have a proper series finale, both Return of the Joker and Epilogue basically already provide an ending to the series, so it's hard to feel bad about it when plenty of other animated series don't have that luxury. I wouldn't want them to bring the show back now after Kevin Conroy sadly passed away. I do hope that Terry gets more love and maybe see him in a different animated universe down the road.

Man I love this show. I hope it comes back. My personal thing I would if they came back with this is if Terry and Melanie walker got to have a come back. Their chemistry is unmatched and more importantly she changes because he tells her there’s always a choice. I know the creators have said that if the fans petition for it they would eagerly come back.

Batman Beyond is one of the best shows ever. I’m sad it didn’t last longer, or even get a proper ending. It’s like Terry said when he first examined the Batman suit: “This thing might be old, but it’s still cutting edge.” That’s exactly how I describe the show. A little ironic, in a way.

I always loved Batman Beyond. Batman having a father figure leading him to heroism and purpose to his life, I think that was what a lot of young men wanted out of life.

Spectacular Spider-Man was a casualty of the Marvel acquisition by Disney and was unceremoniously left on a cliffhanger for eternity. I'd give anything for one more season of Greg Weisman's take.

I've always like this show right out the gate. And I always thought that the Justice League Unlimited episode about Terry McGinnis was a send-off.

The main reason the final episode aired so late after all other episodes had concluded was due to the September 11th attacks. Due to the final episode dealing with a terrorist organization (Kobra) and with the explosions in the episode, they held off on broadcasting the final episode until December of 2001 (it was originally supposed to broadcast in September of 2001).

They should do a Batman Beyond revival movie for HBO MAX that gives a proper finale. Maybe it revolves around the death of Bruce Wayne (mirroring Kevin Conroy) and there could maybe be a few lines of archival footage fit in. It'd be a great tribute to Conroy's memory and a bit of closure of BB fans.

This was the batman that got me into batman in the first place

1:01 Damien wasn’t created until after Batman Beyond had finished, so technically 4. The Rebirth period of Batman Beyond in comics did contextualise him within the setting though in the second story arc.

I watched this show 10 years ago.. I still remember that unanswered feeling. I wonder what James Gunn will do, it is a certainly a rogue character for the big screen.

To be fair, BTAS ended abruptly for similar reasons; the last episode of BTAS wasn't a finale by any means. Personally, if they do another season or movie, it would have to be about Terry dealing with the loss of Bruce. It would be a great sendoff to the DCAU Batman and to Kevin Conroy.

I can’t think of a dc show I loved more than beyond. It was as truly a masterpiece. As a kid I looked up to terry and Bruce cause they had flaws but a lot of redeeming qualities. The story telling, the messages, the wit and action; I can’t begin to explain the imprint it left on me. When I have my own kid imma have em watch this cause there’s none like this. This goes on the list of shows that had sky high potential but never made it past their peak. Kinda like spectacular Spider-Man

Terry & Jason probably would have made a great Duo with their personalities. Jason is a character who seems to be full of anger while Terry seemed to mature over the time. Maybe Dick could have been an supportive uncle to two brothers in order to give them emotional support during their darkest days. Dick seemed pretty cool with the way he tried to hold things together when bruce passed away like a Son who had a lot of disagreements with his father due to young age but realized his father's POV later in life, and wished that he could now talk to his father now that he understood him more.

This show probably doesn't work in live action. But I'd love to see a continuation series with Dick Grayson as the man in the chair behind Terry.

So much heart and creativity went into this show - because of this, DC finally found a worthy and widely-accepted successor to the bat-mantle - no small feat given all the members of the bat-family and the fact that Batman is arguably DC’s most popular character and most lucrative IP

This Is my favorite version of Batman, even if it's not the "main" one. Talking about shows think of Batman Beyond always brings to mind it's Marvel kind of equivalent Spiderman Unlimited, similar style (pure 90s cyberpunk) techno industrial soundtrack and also a show without a proper ending.

All my hopes for the DCEU went out the window when Kevin Conroy passed away. He kept it all together, it's just not the same without him anymore. 😢

WBA owned my childhood, Batman Beyond, JL/JLU, BTAS/BTNA, STAS, Static Shock, Teen Titans, so much great stuff.

This show was truly something special. I remember seeing it the first time as a kid, loved it from the get-go. Being a little kid, I always wondered what happened to it since it just stopped. I'll definitely be showing it to my 2 boys once they're old enough to get invested in a show that has continuity.

It’s a shame they don’t make animated shows like that anymore.

If you read the comics, you see how the series continues. And it's really awesome.

It’s honestly one of the best iterations of the Batman mythology! It rivals the original Animated Series! I’ll take a Robin, Nightwing, or Redhood show or movie sure, but I would die for a Batman Movie movie!

It's really sad with the passing of Kevin Conroy at 66 years old - he had so much left to offer. I wonder if he ever had conversations about lending his voice to AI technology. In the meantime, it is also sad that WB killed the potential Batman Beyond project involving Michael Keaton - though there's a slither of hope that may still happen soon. Great video as always.

That concept art for a new Batman Beyond movie from one of the artists on Into The Spider-Verse looked soooo good. I can only hope that James Gunn has plans to use him in the future, though I would imagine any use of Batman Beyond won't take place until the Chapter 2 phase of his DCU

Man I loved this show when I was younger. Rewatching it has been fantastic, I think it's aged well.

As an elder millenial who was in the exact demographic this show targeted - I loved it more than I loved Batman. It was so much more relatable than the eternally 1930's art deco noir of the original batman series. Terry was and will forever be my favorite Batman.

I think an animated film is maybe most likely if anything. Though, without Kevin Conroy, I think it would either have to go without an appearance by Bruce Wayne or be set after Bruce has passed. The Epilogue-age Terry is less familiar, though, so maybe the former situation would be better. Batman has plenty of stories of investigating across the globe, so Terry's Batman can as well. Plus, it would be cool to see more of what the DCAU world looks like in the time of Neo-Gotham.

The JLU episode "Epilogue" is the finale though. It was literally made to wrap up as much of the plot points mentioned in your video as possible.

I would love to see Dick Grayson/ Nightwing and Terry/ Batman meet each other and have a show together or even just a few episodes together, I just feel like their personalities would go great together and they would be like best friends or even have a big bro lil bro kind of relationship also their heroic counterparts complement each other greatly just like their normal characteristics do

I'm always amazed that dc made straight to DVD movies and were shocked they didn't do as well as the movies that went to theaters.

Apparently there was a plan for another JL: Unlimited season that would have been a crossover with the classic league members trapped in the Beyond future and having Terry function as their Batman. But the show didn't get that renewal and got cancelled.

What I think is that this was one of my favorite shows and I truly wish there were more episodes.

A very underrated cartoon that was on KidsWB that I rarely hear people mention was “The Legend of Calamity Jane”. That series didn’t go for very long and I don’t even think it got a VHS or DVD release.

He was also in the Zeta Project. Not strange given that, that show was a spin-off of Batman Beyond.

Teen Titans was another great series that needed a proper send off. Spiderman, both the 90s and Spectacular come to mind. And perhaps on top of my list is probably The Avengers: earth's mightiest heroes. Felt like they did the characters justice and were depicted accurately, and this was 2 years before the movie even came out.

I mentioned in another youtube video on the subject that "Batman Beyond" is a case where history repeats itself in the next generation; you can also see it comparing "Extreme Ghostbusters" to "The Real Ghostbusters". In the case of _this_ BBeyond episode, there was a BTAS episode where a mad docter learned who Batman is, but Batman used his will power to force the "thought recorder" to record something else; this leads the other villains to accuse the doctor of plans to betray them. He then plainly tells them who Batman is, and they *refuse to beleive him.* That was the faint basis for this episode...

I don't know if a movie to close off the show counts (probably does), but the "let us know if there's a show that didn't have a proper sendoff..." reminds me of Firefly.

I need them to bring it back, tell the story between Unmasked and Epilogue. Also explain WHAT THE HELL happened to his design. Terry had the slim build of Nightwing and worked as a good balance against Bruce’s massive build.

If a (EARTH-53 BATMAN BEYOND) cartoon series might get made someday; I hope the character hero (The Signal) is in it, I hope new character villains are in it, along with new allies, friends, other heroes, a few familiar characters, and some former characters are in it. I imagine the full name of Earth-53 Realm’s (The Signal) is (Duke Thomas Brown) & I imagine him being born a MetaHuman. I also imagine a scenario in which age:20 TERRY, meets age:16 DUKE by chance, when TERRY is fighting against an enemy, and he saves the life of (Duke T. Brown) from serious danger.

Watching the Boy Meets World podcast, I’ve only now come to realize who Terry’s VA is. For me, he’s next to Kevin Conroy when it comes to nostalgia and my childhood.

This was is amazing, and such a bummer return of the Joker under perform. But, sadly, I think Kevin Conroy's truly sad early passing would make this even more difficult now...

Samurai jack got a revival and an ending. Really enjoyed it till the time paradox. Ash used her dark powers being a daughter of aku to bring Jack to the past. But if she can't exist in the past because aku's death means she doesn't exist in the future, that would mean that her powers in the future wouldn't be able to be used to bring Jack to the past so it would be impossible to kill aku. I really felt a defeat where this becomes evident to them and they're flung back to the future where they are momentarily defeated. And that when the reality that traveling back in time is realized they still kill aku in the future and begin to rebuild his lost home would have been a more fitting ending than the one we got. Felt like a cop-out that he had to be sad in the past without his love, rather than sad in the future knowing his home is lost forever and he needs to rebuild.

Remember that at the time (2001) there was no streaming or binge watching: *DVD* technology was still relatively new, most people didn't have show box sets. So syndication was reasonably the main way that this was going to be viewed, and syndication specifically doesn't want hard endings. This seems like a prime candidate for 3D or hybrid animation reboot though: Spider-Man animated didn't get a solid ending but there have been tons of spiderman reboots. Most likely is that DC corp doesn't see it as different enough from primary Batman.

It is 2023 and I still want to see a Batman Beyond movie with Terry and old Bruce and Barbara. The series needs to return with a season 4 and more. I have the entire series and still love it, i remember when i first saw it on kids WB thinking it will not be good at all but from the first episode, i became a fan of Mc.Ginnis and BB Neo Gotham. Bring it back.

*THREE* *ROBINS* when this show was created and aired. Damian hadn't even been created yet, and Stephanie Brown's fleeting time as Robin didn't occur until 2004, three years after the show had *ENDED.*

The example of this sort of thing that always sticks out in my mind is the ending of the the Silver Surfer animated series in the 90s. It doesn't just end in a weird place. It literally ends with Thanos destroying the universe. They clearly weren't planning on getting cancelled and this was supposed to be a cliffhanger, but then the show never came back so, in that timeline, I guess Thanos just destroyed the universe while SS looked at him with a shocked pikachu face.

Batman Beyond is still one of my favorites. Vastly superior to the quality we are getting now. Just picked up that collectors edition.

Well to be honest that Justice League unlimited episode what's about Terry McGinnis give us a proper ending to Batman beyond it was a fantastic episode from beginning to end I have to complete DVD series and return the joker I love this show so much and I hope one day we get a live-action movie and I hope the show do come back but it's going to be hard for them to do the series without Kevin voicing Bruce Wayne

Pirates of Dark Water. Show never properly wrapped, but it is one of the greatest cartoon fantasy epics ever.

A live action movie would probably be really hard to pull off, getting the new batsuit & neo-Gotham looking right would be really challenging. Would love to see a new animated movie or series tho!
