I like to imagine the hound is more of an emotional representation of the Harbinger. The hound barking through the window, but being held back to not start anything, and when the Harbinger gets on the bus and the hound is still barking and still not attacking is like a way to show that the Harbinger does not want to deal with you, but chooses to keep cool because you went this far. When the Harbinger snapped, his hound did as well, but he was actively pulling the leash while yelling in a clearly irritated manner. But he is merely explaining his patience and what he will do the next time his patience is tested, instead of actually lashing out. He is literally holding himself back.
Every time one of these rituals to speak to an ‘ancient person with endless knowledge’ pops up, I get the urge to just ask the being how their day’s been going and if they are okay. I wouldn’t live long in a creepypasta world
@@kysim Out of all the horror media I’ve read/listened/watched only about 2% rewards kindness But if I get the odds of intriguing them, I’d probably try talking to them like I do with other humans because I am really bad at thinking of things in the moment It might go well because I’m polite to a fault with strangers or I could just offend them by not treating them differently If it’s a distraction then I’d definitely need it, my legs are very slow twitch so while I can keep my pace for a long time, my running is quite slow in comparison to other humans What would you do if you were in such a situation?
@@katherineclawson3494 I'd probably try to empathise with them (???? I have no idea what I'm saying) try to like somehow manipulate them into letting me live or I'd have some therapy session to correcting their behaviour (I'm a psychology student) or I'd just ditch everything and run/hide, if things are too much for me to deal with like in those rule stories I might just take the easy way and say goodbye
I have been on a Dark Somnium binge for the last couple of days. Even though I've already listened to them, it feels like the first time. I even had to stop for a little bit because every sound that I heard had me jumping. Great job!!
@@Darksomnium I definitely am. I just got done listening to I am a Criminal Profiler. The music you made to go with that story made me cry. You need an award...not just a RU-vid Plaque.
Amanda how do I convince my girlfriend to listen to some creepy pastas I think she'd love them but since it has creepy in the name and is longer than 30 seconds she won't give it a shot
@@nikolapetrovic5336 this is what I would do...find one of his short stories. There are some that are 19 minutes. Others that are shorter. She might be interested in RomNex. She is a fabulous storyteller.
I feel like this bus story would make a great collection of stories, of all the people who may or may have not made a mistake. The questions they ask. Even the main character who spoke of the story having a tragic end of sorts
You're literally my favorite youtube channel. You help me sleep, you help me focus, you help me pass the time. You compositions are amazing ass well man. Really missed you when you didn't upload for a while! I hope you never get burnt out man. Thanks for being you brother.
I usually cringe at the cliche of "stRaNGe ruLEs" in creepypasts but since its the dark somnium and his stories are never a miss, ill give this one a try.
@@spencerlarson9357 I usually love "strange rules" creepypastas unless the protagonist is a complete dumbass who ignores the rules for no reason and at the first chance they get. Fortunately that's not the case in Dark Somnium's creepypastas.
This channel always has the best stories. Reminds me of the Are You Afraid Of The Dark show back in the day on nickelodeon, and much more thrilling than Goosebumps. These stories are like Tales From The Crypt or my personal favorite Creepshow.
I have the Chilling app and I love it so much. Listen to it all the time. The stories are awsome and entertaining. I would recommend it to all those listeners that love the creepy stories.
A very interesting story. I have a soft spot for creepy tales with rules, but this particular one is so well-written! And with its own twist. Great narration, too. Your voice truly brings these stories to life 💖 P.S. Happy New Year!🎉🌟
I absolutely love this- it felt like a 2 hour movie ending and walking out to empty closed shops in the mall this'll be a good concept for a movie or a series tbh 🦔
I think it’s hinting that’s how the other lost souls ended up there, desperate for answers until the Harbinger lost his patience and showed them the concept of eternity in the form of an eternal bus ride
I’ve had Chilling for a while now and I use it most nights to fall asleep. I tend to use the paranormal story playlist because I want to avoid the true crime or gore stories I’d run into on the New Releases playlist. The choice of playlists and the ambient noise selection is why I prefer it to long RU-vid videos ❤
I just wanted to say that i absolutely love your work so much! it helps me get through my bad days and theres something about being immersed in a fictional universe that pretends to be the real one that is so satisfying to me Thank you so much for these videos :D
Just downloaded the app you mentioned! Gotta support one of my favorite narrators, of course! These make my nights, when i can listen to these ,and calm down.. having so much health problems, and exruciating pains, that distracting myself with these types of stories, really helps! Thank you so much, for being my regular help!
I just wanna say man you’re truly one of a kind when it comes to storytelling. There’s no one that comes close in any genre when it comes to the amount of detail you put into these stories. From the mixing to the music to the fx, everything you do just creates this atmosphere that perfectly matches the story. The raw emotion you evoke with certain stories is more convincing than most movies or books I’d read. I know you’re a humble guy who probably doesn’t think too much of himself and the things you’ve achieved. But as someone who’s been a fan since the days you used to record these stories in your car, I can tell you that you’re truly a fucking master at this shit. You should really try and get some deals in audio book recordings etc. You just make stories come alive my dude. Anyway sorry for the rant, and have a happy ass 2023 my dude, you deserve it.
The character seems a bit daft at the end of the story. You can't trick a being who knows the answer to any possible question into giving you more than one answer. I think it's pretty clear that the harbinger only gets on the bus if he hasn't answered the question of the human who is riding the bus. He knows everything, including which human is on that bus as well as whether he's already answered one of their questions long before the bus approaches the stop. OP had their chance and they blew it. That's it, one question, one answer. You don't get a redo.
Makes sense, thank you for your thoughts on the story! My favorite part of making these videos is seeing what people think and hearing their thoughts on it :D
Hi, I'm the author of the story and would agree with your assessment. The idea was that the OP was so obsessed with finding answers that he keep on going back, even though his actions were stupid and reckless. Or perhaps he was drawn back by a dark force...Anyway, thanks for listening and for the feedback.
@@WoundlickerML Dang, if you are who you say you are then I'm honoured that you took notice of me and my random comment on a youtube video of a reading of your story. Not only that but took the time to reply to me as well, on top of the fact that the owner of the channel who read it also took the time to respond to my comment. I'm used to getting a handful of likes on my comments and maybe a heart from the creator once in a blue moon but this one seems to have struck gold with getting attention. Anyway, I did enjoy the story and it was a really good listen. Makes complete sense that the rules wouldn't be completely known to the characters, and not every character should be a genius and be able to just work out everything, despite what some people think. I do like to get to make comments like the one above because of how a character is written as long as they're not complete idiots with what they're doing or thinking. Makes me feel smart.
@@Xokoy Not at all. It's a good comment. I'm basically just a fan of DS who started writing my own stories and was lucky enough to have some of them narrated. It's an honour working with Ronnie - he's an amazing artist and a good guy!
@@WoundlickerML Oh wow, amazing story!! I loved it :) would love to hear more of them edit: oh my God you made the “I’ve been receiving letters..” story that one made me cry hahahah
Awesome! Reminds me a bit of How to summon the Butter Street Hitchhiker, which you also narrated. I love this kind of stories. Edit: Also, happy new year!
Don't forget to stay hydrated on the new year's! Take care :) you're doing wonderfully, thanks for your voice, i listen to your narrations to sleep. The horror keeps me in my bed and you're voice lulls me to sleep
These stories are the main thing that kept me going at work, while I was driving, just a normal day in life I’m always listening to a story on here. Please don’t ever stop making them
Happy new year’s everyone. Also man Every time i see stories like this makes me really wanna try and get my channel started and do all sorts of stuff narrations included, man even being s guest narrator in one of somniums videos would be great!
Man I've listened to this channel for a while now and this the only channel that I really enjoy listening to thank you Dark Somnium continue to do well and I will always look forward to new videos you come out with.
Happy New Year to you Mr. Somnium I believe I speak on behalf of everyone when I say we’ve been enjoying the stories lately. Can’t wait to see what you’re bringing us this year
Amazing story!!! I just subscribed to your channel a few days ago and I’ve been binge watching. I was never into creepy pastas but your style is great. I also believe mainstream horror content and movies in general are missing these kinds of simple stories. So good!
Amazing narration as always, I've been listening to you for years now, and your narrations have been a big part of my daily life I love the level of detail and effort put into every story, and you and Rom have made me a better storyteller in my own life Thank you and happy new year!
Absolute Banger. I started really enjoying your narrations since "I'm a guard stationed at a secret government prison." I really hope you enjoyed your New Year and holiday. I love the scary content, It sometimes makes me look behind my back or look around my room.
I can't stop listening to the dark somnium! It's become part of my daily routine ! You do a fantastic job dude ,keep up the good work ! All my respect !
Recently listened to this again. And I love it. I go on night runs all the time on my nights off. This would be one of those buses I wouldn't mind catching in hopes to get one question of mine answered. Great job on narrating this!
Im constantly waiting for your narrations! They're all awesome! The only downside would be that it ends. Happy new year and may this year be pleasant for you!
Lol. The Harbinger is so badass that his mere gaze produces the same sound as the movement of the seemingly invincible main character during a fight scene in a bad "Kung foo" movie. That is what I would call top-tier badassary.
He's narrated at least "There are rules to follow to stay safe", another rules story. He has possibly made others, I am not a big fan of rules stories in general, so I haven't paid attention. But perhaps you'll find more. The story I mentioned before is 42 minutes long, so you'll have at least that. edit: While i'm not sure if "did anyone else play the bath game?" counts as rule pasta since right now i didnt watch past him explaining rule 5, the protagonist must follow some rules and it's 11 minutes long. And not rules pasta, theres some ritual pasta narrated by dark somnium for "how to access the forbidden wiki" for 19 minutes and "how to summon the butter street hitchhiker" for 21 minutes. edit 2: some more "games" ritual pasta that could count are: the devil game (33 minutes), the dead poets game (10 minutes), and the left right game (6 hours 2 minutes total) which can be watched via the one big video or as by the 10 part series videos he did. again, there may be more videos you could like based on liking rules pasta, but i hope this list helps you.
@@yellowbutterfly6796 Hey man, appreciate your recommendations, I'll be sure to check them out! I actually wasn't a huge fan of this story, definitely one of the less interesting rules stories I've heard.
I began using the chilling app recently and I'm enjoying it very much. I really love how I can change the ambient sounds that play during narrations. I really enjoy the variety of narrators as well. Ive already made a few long playlists to enjoy when I'm not listening to narrators on RU-vid 😂😂 I've pretty much turned into a creepypasta fiend 😂😂
The old woman part makes me laugh so hard, because of how wrong it is. Old irritable women are the most common thing to meet on the bus, no matter the hours.
I really like this story and the narration and sound effects were perfect for it. I think this is one of those stories where you find yourself asking what you would do, what question would you ask, assuming you survived the other ghouls first that is. I'd love to think that I was practical enough to ask for next week's Powerball numbers but I think I would have probably asked the same question the narrator did.
These long uploads lately have been quite a boon. Not long ago I moved to a new place and it's nearly a 20 minute drive there and back when I need to go into town so having these long videos to listen to while I drive has been quite nice.
I do a lot of driving for work and I always have one of your stories on, can proudly say I’ve listened to almost all of your stories, I’ve been thinking about trying to write a horror story of my own to (hopefully) have you read it
MAAAAN you dont MISS my BOI! Coice as iconic as EVER and that ending LINE? CLEAN AF! Glad i caught this pasta... I haven't heard one since... LAST YEAR... 👀👀👀😂😂😂
I have to admit, I wasn't expecting much when I started listening, but this story was brilliant. It really pulled me in. I would love to know more about the Harbinger.
The headphones guy sounds like a reference to a similarly named character from the prison series. Guy was basically an unstoppable force just vibing to his music, then had similar anger when forced to stop listening iirc
I gotta wonder if you can ask to stay. Perhaps instead of falling into the traps, you ask to become a new passenger that has its own set of rules. It seems like the look of the passengers change each time and are determined by the person boarding. But being able to see behind the scenes without "getting got" by the other entities could be interesting. I could imagine a part two. "I'm on a bus that has strange rules, but none of them apply to me."
