If the game didn't detect a cut then it's fine unless otherwise stated by the league organisers before the event starts, can't just start making rules up because someone is salty they ran wide/cut the track and got a penalty 🤷

it doesn't matter if you went too wide or not. the game didn't give you a penalty so it didn't think you went wide so effectively the stewards have just said that the game can't detect penalties correctly and is broken... pretty much sums up rennsport

Locked camera can have that effect, although It does seem a bit off still. This might sound weird but remember in a sim you are the car, whereas in real life you are a human driving a car.

That penalty was BS... when there is literally an in-game track limits enforcement/penalty system (and presumably no reliable way to trick/exploit it), how can someone overrule that? Nonsense. Chair umpires do not overrule hawk-eye, football refs do not overrule goal-line technology. Idk, I would be seething

Nice to see Road Atlanta. One of my favorite tracks, such a fun rollercoaster in the first half. Also, showing the external cameras comparing the track limit cuts makes it so apparent how wack the physics are in Rennsport right now, jesus. Looks like you're driving cars from the 70s with how bouncy and slidey things are

Why on earth did they allow that protest? Even if it was true that you went outside track limits and gained an advantage, it should've been agreed that its is NOT the fault of the driver to push the game to such a limit, because that's your job... Delusional from the stewards as well to believe that their observation of track limits to better than the in-game computer assuming the system is functioning normally, which is probably true because it didn't give you a penalty. What an absolute disaster of organisation by the stewards and organisers of the event. Don't make up rules during the event because the originally rules are flawed, it makes the situation so much worse.

Hate being an elitist, gatekeeper, or whatever, but this game is an abomination, the stewards have mental problems, and the developers seem shady as hell. There is no way this game can release within the next year, much less succeed. Genuinely baffling that they're trying to have a serious e-sports scene like this, particularly being standing-start GT3 sprint races.

Every sim is different & has its own characteristics. This one is certainly unique in its own way. As you can probably tell, you can really exploit tyre slip angles, hence the constant sideways action & power sliding. Not exactly how you drive a GT car IRL but nonetheless, it’s a challenge to be fast driving like this. I’m thinking of doing a video comparing these physics to other games from a drivers POV.

I steward in an acc league and if the game doesn't give you a track limit warning or invalidate your lap you didn't exploit track limits. You carried a minimum speed of 153kph through the corner, the porshe carried 155kph minimum so went through faster, both beemers carry 154kph. You went through the corner the slowest out of those 3 cars and took a slower line not taking the gravel so personally I do not agree with that penalty.

Is there even a rule about it? Thats all that matters. The penalty is definitely wrong, but what rule gives the stewards the ability to penalise you for tracklimits in quali? Totally BS.

Absolutely rubbish call by the stewards. Interested to know if the organizers even talked to you about overruling the in game penalty system. If they didn't make it clear this is even worse. I'm struggling to take notice of Rennsport as an average punter, They obviously didn't make the game for the public and its soul purpose is to be used for esports, so why do they have no confidence in the in game penalty system? this all feels half baked to me.

This game need at least one more year before releasing to market, i tested it, there are good aspects, but need a lot of work into it; sounds, graphics, tripple screen support, brake management as you almost can not lock tires etc...

This is just horrendous, I don't know the Off-Track Rules in the Sporting Code. But 1) This was no Off-Track were you gained anything 2) If the Track Limit System doesn't catch you, where is the consistency 3) Qualifying Penalties need to be given in the Qualifying or afterwards applying to the result. 4) Giving you a 3 Grid Penalty is not corresponding to the incident 5) Changing it from 3 to 4 IS JUST AMATEUR LEVEL of Stewarding

I mean if there is a penalty sistem that detects the track limits and gives slow downs(like in raceroom in the races for example) I don't understand why should the stewards be involved.If a sistem is put in place and it doesn't detect it It's fair game.If they reviewed your lap and someone else's because of a protest they should have checked everyone's lap because that means the track limits system is inconsistent or rubish.

I've driven RA in real life and I don't know much about Rennsport, but are they using laser scanned tracks? I started watching James qualy lap and immediately I thought, this does not look to me like RA does in real life. AC seems to do a great job at capturing it. Can't speak to iRacing as I haven't driven this track on that sim.

the track limits on corners vary. some corners you have to keep 2 wheel on the curb to stay in track limits while others its just the white lines so I wouldn't say that using the grass is an exploit because it just depends on what the track limits are set too.

@@Graint I agree, however if there is going to be manual intervention from officials saying James is some how at fault because the game decided not give him a penalty with a reasoning that he's 'exploiting' something to gain an unfair advantage, then it opens up A LOT of other actions as gaining an unfair advantage. I mean I've never raced a real race car but I don't think gt3 cars take any tires into grass on corner entry.

Well if the game didn't detect means it didn't happen. Is as simple as that no? Even if they want to penalize u, and i do agree with u on how its being given (late and the severity) its just wrong. Definitely should have been done earlier and imho even if they think u gain time from the off-track, clearly ur quali time didn't show because u only manage to qualify p8. It's not like u did a 16.8/quali p4 or something. If so, yes that penalty is justifiable. But 17.1/p8 and 4 position to give back, that's just too much. At best 1 position if they really feel u took advantage of it.

The penalty is just dumb. That unintentional track limits 'exploit' (bug) with applying common sense can be easily ignored from my point of view. You did not start first, it was not obvious gaining anything and it is not your fault and giving a penalty in the middle of the race is just very wrong. I wish you better luck in the following races, James! The rest looks good 🤘

Yeah you got absolutely bullshitted there ngl. The more I see about the league the less I feel the desire to watch it. What I find interesting about the penalty is that they upped it within less than a lap from 3 positions to 4, makes it seem like decision for the 3 place pen was made without much thought behind it which makes the fact that you got it some time into the race even weirder. Imo a time penalty at the end of the race would have made much more sense but I’m obviously not a steward. Let’s hope you don’t get into a similar situation at the lan

I guess it all depends on the series rules. If stewards/organisers can hand out penalties for infringements at their own discretion then unfortunately you're at the mercy of the dictators. I'm guessing they deemed that exit as exploiting the physics (some how) that the game didn't detect. However, in any case, if what you did was wrong and the game didn't detect it then its a bad look for the game (eg grass clipping) and it leaves a bad taste in the mouths of sim racers. Online in other streams comments about the penalty make the whole thing appear to be a bit of a joke and the comments about the series is pretty negative because of this penalty. So, I'd say, dumb move on the part of stewards and organisers.

Come back to ACC - at least with Kunos we know track limits are funky to begin with (plus we'll have Nords' next year). This whole Rennsport adventure for you has been an exercise in racecraft-frustration and rule-oddities - usually through no fault of your own either. Time to leave it behind after Sweden, it's already ded to the playing community anyways.

That penalty is absolute bs. Imagine they change the track limit rules for something like f1, after the qualifying is already done. "Well we gave you the track limits, but you should have known that we will change them for this corner here, that's a penalty for you sir" What a shitshow of a series. You didn't touch the cones on the outside and got punished for being skilled enough to be that close to the limit, ESL is really not doing a good pr for Rennsport, there is an early damage model they just didn't enable it, I'm disappointed what esl is doing with the game. But I'm more disappointed with simracers who are overly toxic with the sim and try to compare it to ACC in every aspect like it's some holy grail, rs is not even released yet and ACC was unplayable after release for a quite few months yet they asked full price for it. I didn't know this community is so toxic until there was a new player on the market, same story with AMS2, just chill, choose your favourite sim and instead of making the devs wanna bin a project appreciate the fact that you're not forced to play Toca Race driver 2 for the rest of your life

There could have been any reason for you not getting a slowdown. Sims are buggy pieces of shit, so it could be literally anything. Could even be the fact that you didn’t widen the entry like the others did. Regardless, you inadvertently did something the others didn’t, and since you’re all working to the game’s penalty system it’s fair game. The stewards must have thought they were righting a wrong, but sadly they ended up doing the opposite…

It was clearly said in the briefing though that if you touch the cones on the exit of T5 you will get your lap deleted even if the game doesn't do it automatically. Maybe you missed that and hence why the confusion.
