they did lots of collaborations though: - 'Un Jour Parfait', JJ's second solo LP, Dave played keys on it. - there were two albums of Purple Helmets (cover band featuring JJ on bass and Dave on keys, and also Alex Gifford, the Stranglers' sax player, on vocals). - Dave allegedly helped JJ creating the soundtrack for 'Gankutsuou' the anime series. - Together with Dave JJ did the mixing and sound production of Mona Mur's 1st record. - Dave played keys on Dani's album 'N Comme Never Again,', and JJ played bass there, and did the production of the record. - Dave & JJ both played on Beranek's album 'Daylight in the Dark', and JJ produced some of the tracks. - and of course there was 'Fire And Water', the unconventional piece of music by JJ and Dave that was initially released as the soundtrack for the French avant-garde film 'Ecoutez Vos Murs'.
Yes he did. And so did Hugh Cornwell with his first solo album that same year titled 'Nosferatu'. I had both albums that year when I was 23, and they are both excellent albums. Hugh Cornwell's album 'Nosferatu' is uploaded on RU-vid.
The Stranglers commited commercial suicide thanks to Burnel"s aversion to 'mainstream music. Tramp, pinup and other popular sounding tracks would have been hits IMO. No lets release La folie, an over long dirge sung in French, fucking great idea.
Very interesting, and a very dark version of J. J. Burnel's 'Euroman', with the accompaniment of Dave Greenfield. J. J. and Dave should have collaborated together on recording albums with other musicians. May Dave Greenfield Rest In Peace.
