Lmao I'd be a weird combo of pissed and cracking up with the yeah... he would face all while being rather confused AND knowing damn well he'd never be able to find it again.
A great Zoro-Chopper moment is during Alabasta, when Chopper is new to the crew and he's talking to Zoro and Chopper's all like "You're the oldest in the crew, right?" and of course Zoro says "It's not like there's much difference between older members and newer members." and then Chopper asks Zoro, "Why did you join the crew?" and then he explains how Chopper didn't see them really as a crew, they seemed more independent, especially Zoro given the fact that he's the one that's always asleep in the corner, or working out alone in the crows nest or wherever. And Zoro tells him something like "It just sorta happened." and that "All the members including me have other individual goals." and then he says this to him which is one of my personal favorite quotes of Zoro's. "What does 'teamwork' really mean anyway? Is it just about rescuing and protecting each other? There are people who believe that. But to me, that just sounds like kids playing around. Everyone should do what they can with their lives on the line, and then say to the next guy: 'I did what I could. Now it's your turn. If you don't finish it, I'll come kick your ass!' Isn't that how teamwork first comes about? When I look at it that way, I think it's okay to have nakama that are wild and independent."
ChronoSpammer If it was filled, it was great filler. It also ends with Luffy doing something rash and they have this moment of bonding where they talk about having gotten on the wrong ship.
For who is interested in watching this scene, I found it in this Zoro X Tashigi video at 2:40: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BfGHTz99dEI.html
I think that the best Zoro/Chopper moment was when Chopper taken by Foxy as a new member of his crew, and Chopper was crying and screaming "I don't want this, please save me guys!" And Zoro just answered him "Stop crying, you're ashaming yourself, be a man!". That was some tough love there :-)
I'm still wondering why the ground broke instead of the bottle in that scene. One explanation would be unconcious armament haki if that's possible. It's at least possible to use observation and conqueror's haki unconciously.
I always assume its not so much for the benefit of audience attention so much as it is because its hard to talk that long without losing a train of thought or just flubbing up. And, to be fair, he DOES stutter and trail off more than those people who DO cut a lot. Still, I have to say I'm pretty impressed by the length of his cuts.
@@champ8605 or anyone really into a certain anime could talk non stop about it but this guy has done it long enough that he's got an audience. not saying he's bad, i love watching his videos but i feel like most of us could do this but just not make money for it
Especially the moment where they both sat there and take the beating from Bellamy. I truly believe that he's the only person on the crew that will obey that order...
Its because the dude has got self respect. Disrespecting luffy would be disrespecting himself, because dissing luffy means that Zoro is following someone who he see's as under him and how does that look for Zoro then? Yeah not Good, which means he's got alot of self respect for being so dedicated and devoted to his captain.
Zoro and Chopper had a lot of moments, actually. Off the top of my head, I can think of two important ones you missed; In Alabasta, pretty early after Chopper's recruitment, the two have a talk about what it means to be a part of the Strawhat Crew while they're marching through the desert. Another one was when the Foxy Pirates "won" Chopper during their game; everyone was trying to comfort him, and Zoro was the only one who admonished him instead to man up and carry the consequences of his own actions. It was the only thing that actually got through to Chopper then. So yeah, I'd say Chopper looks up to Zoro, not just as a role model, but as a big brother figure. The two of them have a good dynamic going on.
There was actually a cover art in which Zoro and Sanji were dreaming of defeating one another and in Zoro’s dream you can see Chopper looking up to him, basically saying that Zoro does see Chopper as sort of a little brother
Why is no one mentioning how before Loguetown, Zoro had no problem with directions while Luffy actually have it worse (in Syrup Village, Luffy was lost and Zoro was stuck because of the oilway, and right after Zoro goes up the hill, they show up in the "battlefield" TOGETHER). It's almost as if Zoro gave his sense of direction to Luffy.
it was a filler arc, the warship island arc with Apis and those dragons (which were't canon either). I actually like that scene but oda didn't make anything like that :(
i gut stabbed in my hand with a rusty metal broomstick by my brother (intentional that mother fucker) never went to see a doctor about it just dipped it in soap and alcohol a big scar tho
@@Kannotwait i was 11 and dumb but i did know how to disinfect wounds and how to patch my self up my hand is fine noever lost movement just a big scar between my thumb and index finger didnt need a doctor and was definetly not going to tell anyone about being stabbed by a 5 year old
I'd go as far as to say that while Zoro doesn't carry out the duties of the first mate he at least embodies the spirit of the first mate. Especially as the first person to devote himself to Luffy's crew when they had nothing but a small rowboat. He's proved multiple times that he'd die for his captain. More than any other crew member so far. And he doesn't take abandoning the crew light. Like on his input on Usopp during Water 7 : o
I think its deeper than that....zoro is always willing to listen to luffy cause he knows that captain has final orders....zoro saw that luffy is as noble as himself...luffy was willing to help him without ever being asked to or told what the real story was for why he was tied up...zoro even called him captain and when luffy says he wants to be pirate king with no crew a small boat and he wanted to go to the grand line back in episode 3 zoro is like then its decided I have to go to with no hesitation even after what cody said about the grand line being so scary...he was willing to follow luffy cause he believed in him as a person and friend even after already beating morgan for him and repaying his debt by saving luffys life multiple times.....I don't think any of the other strawhats truly believe in luffy like that...if zoro wasn't around none of them would have joined luffy at first the way he did ....
Considering Zoro did spend a portion of his childhood in a dojo, it's not surprising that he feels a level of importance towards being a subordinate and respecting the decision of your superiors.
Zoro’s view of women is very interesting. He’s not a womanizer like Sanji, but he’s not on the total opposite side of the spectrum either. Because of his childhood rival, he treats women as he would a man in most cases. He knows women can be strong, but at the same time he knows that not all women are going to match in physical strength, especially not Zoro’s strength (which is off the charts crazy). He also still has a sliver of chivalry, as seen in the scene with Robin and Eneru in Skypia. But, I think he battles with his view of women. He doesn’t know if he should follow the traditional view, that women are inherently weaker than men and should be protected, or a view that believes women are just as strong as men and that they can protect themselves. I think this stems from Kurina (sorry, don’t know how to spell it!) because she thought of herself as weaker than men, but you can tell in the flashbacks that Zoro didn’t want that to be true. I can remember a few times in the anime when Zoro would be faced with the option of fighting a woman and he would see nothing wrong with it, while Sanji would say that fighting a woman is wrong. Then in the same time period, I can remember Zoro following those traditional chivalry rules (just not as strict or apparent). Overall, I think Zoro is viewing women in the safest possible light in terms of social correctness in today’s world. By that I mean he views them as equals per se, but also treats women that he respects with chivalry. AKA a strange mix of political correctness and male instinct
He I think has a very pragmatic view on things. Woman are naturally physically weaker than men and are less inclined towards combat so female warriors are at a distinct disadvantage. Some overcome it and he respects those but he knows they are more so the exception than the norm.
Zoro: I need to take a piss Me: yeah its up the stairs and first door to the left Zoro:Okay *5 minutes later* Zoro:I'm back Me:Why did you need so long? Zoro:The basement was dark Me:I don't have a basement... Zoro:Oh... Well now you do.
JellybellyWaffles yeah my Neighbour came to me half an hour later asking if I knew a certain moss head that walked out of her house from her basement floor to use her toilet while she was preparing supper.
Everyone and I mean EVERYONE, sleeps on Usopps most defining moment: when he faced off alone against an Admiral. Even though Luffy had to snap him out of his fright, he was still more than willing to attack Kizaru (in fact, he did) to save Zoro. After that point, while they were running he was the one carrying a still injured Zoro.
I remember that moment clearly. and it was a most defining moment. but I think that it may be tied or surpassed by his fight with luffy. he explicitly says he is going to destroy him does showed no cowardice (unconventional of usopp). and that takes some major guts. something usopp needs. lol. thoughts?
sadly not Oda said that Usopp will always be the weakest in the crew. He's a great character but he is supposed to be the closest thing the crew has to a normal person
he would end up in the new world. when it was just him,Luffy and Sanji. no idea how he would manage it but he's just that ridiculous i can see it happening
A moment I found prominent in Zoro and Sanji's relationship is when jyabura is about to kill usopp and zoro cant do anything as hes fighting kaku. Sanji suddenly appears and saves usopp. Zoro then grins and theres a moment of trust between them because Zoro knows Sanji is capable of defeating Jyabura
I feel zoro respects luffy so much and not just for everything that you explained which I totally agree with I think he feels real joy with luffy and the crew and that he went most if not all his life not really knowing what that was sure he didn't seem to have a super bad back story ( could be argued ) but he always seemed lonely and misunderstood ( which he could give less then a f about ) so when he met luffy and what started out because he felt grateful towards him morphed into Luffy gave him something he never had a sense of true happiness and belonging which he does with all his crew I feel zoro sees luffy as not just a man equal to his strength or above him he also sees him as a person who gave him something he never really wanted until he got it and now can't let it go because it means the world to him now Nakama ( idk how to spell it ) true friends and a place he feels happy and excepted that's my view on it anyway
That's probably a part of it. From what little we've seen of Zoro's past, he never really seemed to have many nurturing and loving relationships with anyone - Kuina was the closest thing to it, I think, but that was it...and then she died. Then he and Koshiro just seem to have a student/teacher relationship. His parents or other family were never mentioned even though he was a young child and he was going around challenging dojos...
when discussing whether Zoro is first mate or not no one ever brings up the Ryugu Palace where in the absence of Luffy he took control of the situation saying that they could not stay on fishman island any longer and issuing demands to the princes as to allow them to leave the island without any more trouble. This is like the shinning moment of Zoro acting as first mate in the series
There is no question about it. Zoro IS first mate. He just is. He was the first to join Luffy. That is how you become first mate. Everyone on the crew has a job, and we know what everyone's job is. We know Luffy is captain. We know Nami is navigator, Chopper is doctor, Sanji is cook, brook is musician. Etc. Zoro is first mate. Just because he doesn't use or abuse that authority often doesn't change the fact that he is imbued with it. It's just like how we don't often see Luffy issuing direct orders to the crew. But if he suddenly did, if Luffy suddenly said, with no explanation, out of nowhere, "Nami, turn this ship around. We're going back to Totland.", obviously she would obey. She might not even ask why. But one way or the other, the crew will obey the captain. Therefore, the crew will obey the chain of command- the crew will obey Zoro
zoro does have a few moments of authority like in water seven when he tells the crew that the only way for usopp to come back is to apologize , he was also the last one to trust robin and the first one to suspect treachery on Whiskey peak . he acts as the one grounded in reality while nami does the day to day decision making she does gets swept in the luffy's pace on occasion and that's when zoro comes in
Spencer Bluhm ye because ussop is a god and can full body armament haki and turn into black god ussop with the strongest haki of god haki which knocks out anyone.
Ben To yes you can,we have seen people cover their body with armament haki,we have seen people use armament haki on their sword(so you can use your armament haki on objects as wrll)so that might be possible
Zoro actually doesn't drink that much as is addressed in the Whiskey Peak Arc when Zoro comes out and says that "A true warrior never allows alcohol to take control of him." Zoro actually comes out and says that he does not like being drunk because it prohibits his ability to defend himself and the crew should the need ever arise. Oh and the reason he's always sleeping is due to the fact that he doesn't get to sleep at night in the room that he shares with the other male members of the crew due to the fact that Luffy and Sanji fight in their sleep. I think one of the reasons Luffy and Zoro get along so well is they both share a lack of direction. They both get lost doing the simplest of things. Take Syrup Island for example, Luffy is told by Usopp to go to the north bay and Luffy gets lost and Zoro gets lost during from the Going Merry after deciding to swim in frigid waters during the Drum Island Arc. Just a few tidbits I thought I would share :)
... Are you sure Zoro doesn't drink much? Sure he said that a true warrior never let's alcohol take control... But you could also interpret that as him having immense tolerance. Or just by cutting the drunkenness... I mean think about it, if anyone could it would be Mihawk, and if Mihawk does a thing then Zoro will also end up doing said thing.
@@lawaern3474 yeah you are right Zoro has pretty good tolerance against alcohol. You can see that at the island where they first met Vivi. He drank pretty much all night without stop and wasnt even bit drunk. And that was like before timeskip.
Phoenix Blair I don’t know about Luffy and Sanji sleep fighting but in an SBS Oda says Zoro is usually awake till 3 am training and sleeps till like 7 or 6am then supplements with naps
Mihawk's character is very interesting. He seems to be a combination of Dracula, Zorro, and the 3 Musketteers. All based on people from history by the way. I think he exists mostly as a embodiment of the other formidable styles of sword fighting in the world. Fencing being about fast slashes and jabs, more Knightly style being about power and the Eastern European style more about the movement of the fighter than the sword.
Zoro is a true warrior, plain and simple. As for the upcoming Nami discussion, I don't think you need to dress in drag. Just get some maps, some pirate gold and tangerines, and you're set.
SORRY I WAS MISSING, BROOK! I WAS AT A RESTAURANT THAT HAD LOTS OF MEAT ON AN ISLAND THAT MADE THE LOG POSE TAKE A LONG TIME TO SET! SANJI AND ZORO ARE WITH ME!
“He’ll end up in your basement.” I think you give Zoro to mischief credit, we all know the Zoro will end up in the next town over wondering where the bathroom is
Tekking there was a moment when zoro shifted towards accepting Robin. there were a couple the fist one was when Lucci told the crew that Robins birth was a sin the second was when he found out that Robin was risking her life for the crew. thats mainly why Zoro went and fought and got pissed off when Kaku was talking Shit about Robin.
i may be 5 months late but concerning Zoro and Robin relationship Fisrt of is Skypiea he ckearly said at the end that they should leave without her( they were waiting for her to be able to run away with the treasure ) And in water7 he did agree with Luffy to go and save her after Nami told them that Robin handed herself to the WG in order to save/protect them. and while Sanji and Chopper were searching for her iafter she disapeard in Water7 he was chilling on the rooftop of a bulduing (after Luffy's and Usopp Fight) , in fact sanji asked him if he was coming with them and he said " no , i'll wait and see what happens next" then after sanji and chopper did find her and she said her goodbyes to them , chopper told Nami, Zoro and Nami , what she said , while Luffy was all " i don' beliece this this isn't real" zoro never show that his trust her or distrust her he was like " we need to figure out if she is a friend or a foe" he was neutral to her since she joined the crew. you have to reread chapter 340 and 341. Zoro is a rational guy and in water 7 he proved himself to be the "vice captain" , he was the one pointed out fact and the consequence of each choice they would make . ( i reread the manga more time that i can count) And you missed so much stuff about Chopper and Zoro, they have this older and little brother relationship , i woud write an essaye about them if i started :p , like how he hides behind him when he is scared, and how he looks up at him , their most important interaction is when forced to be part of the Foxy Pirates during the Davy Back Fight Chopper was distraught and cried that he was a Straw Hat and only stopped bawling when Zoro ordered him to "man up". And You missed the most important thing about Zoro and Nami , when he was captured by arlong and Co and to test if she was trustworthy or she was an actual thieve and only used them , he throw himself in the pool and she did save him, he said to her " that she shouldn't act all thought if she isn't able to let one person die"
zoro respects women. that's why he hates that thing about sanji, because he knows how dangerous they can be. he's just also a gentleman, so he will only fight a woman if he has to or if they deserve it.
Wuzi Mu lmfaooooo I will never understand where people get this idea. He CLEARLY shows that he believes women should never be attacked by men. He clearly thinks men should protect women and be the ones who punish other men who break this rule. You think Zoro actually believes for a second that there's a woman out there somewhere who could beat Mihawk or beat him in swordsmanship? No, obviously Zoro believes it's a 2 horse race between him and Mihawk. Lol. And of course he believes that, after all, kuina, his childhood friend, was the one who broke the news to him that Zoro would eventually be stronger than her no matter what, because men grow up to be stronger than women do. That's why Zoro was crushed, because he wanted to beat her fairly, not because he was naturally stronger.
@@Extra_videogames She wasn't a swordsman. She was a logia devil fruit user. Obviously Zoro doesn't believe that no woman can ever defeat ANY man, that would be silly. That would be like thinking Usopp is stronger than Sugar just because he's a man. The point is Zoro believes woman are physically weaker.
similarities between zoro and kenpachi 1. Most badass character in their respective anime. 2. great swordsman, hella strong. 3. has no sense of direction. 4. Has 1 eye closed (generally). so next thing is zoro going Bankai???
I love how sometimes they respect Luffy more when he's not around than when he's there. Like that time they lost their jolly roger and Nami and Usopp were terrified at the idea of being scolded by Luffy.
My prefered translation of Wado Ichimonji: The Straight Road of Peace. Even if that is probably wrong. Side Note: Since Kuina died falling down the stairs while rushing to sharpen Wado Ichimonji, she died undefeated and killed by what is essentially an "Act of God". Once Zorro becomes the Greatest Swordsman in the World, she will be the one opponent who he never defeated.
She will be the one he never defeated- True. She died undefeated? Bullshit lmfaooo. she lost plenty, when she was first learning. Lost against her dad. Etc etc. and besides, the whole point of her arc was that she was gutted that she would grow up to be a woman, while Zoro would gain a fully grown adult male body. Therefore, she said, it was inevitable that he would unfairly surpass her no matter what. Remember? So it's not like he will feel that he didn't truly earn the title of "best". He WILL be the "best" FOR Her. But he won't, like, regret her death because he never beat her as kids lol. He regrets it because she was his friend
Probably mentioned prior to this but zoro does do first mate stuff. In enies lobby are he is the centre point of the straw hats defense waiting for luffy. He takes charge in thriller bark with oars etc...
In enies lobby he was just doing his own stuff and in thriller bark everyone were working together, there was only once he ordered someone. He is not a first mate
@@nathansequeira182 bro...in Thriller Bark he deafeated Ryuma, retrieving Brook's shadow (what started the whole plot), when fighting Oars Zoro was the one playing the bait so the others could lunch their attack....then he was the one dealing with Kuma when most of the crew was out... Luffy wasn't there, so Zoro played the captain For Ennies Lobby there is a brief moment Luffy left them behind to go on Ennies Lobby.. for some reason one the train, everyone relied on Zoro to make it alive on the island...
@Koen Honig Yeah? And where was strategy when Luffy needed the most... More than other SHs, Luffy puts his life on the line for his crewmate... And when luffy needed the most, Zoro stepped up and went as far as knocking Sanji out , to fuckin protect him too... (No hate for Sanji tho) Its One Piece mate, unlike real life, 1st mate here is the one thatstrickly believes the captian, never questions his decision and Puts his life for the crew when captian couldnt... And him being the 1st mate is proved when he puts sense in Luffy when he tries to choose Emotion over Responsibility... (Whereas Nami did the opposite...) And just so you know Nami never takes charge ... She chooses the direction , sure but just because she is a fucking Navigator ... its always Luffy who chooses the destination... You might as well throw that Ussop is the 1st mate just because he says where NOT to go...
Tekking: *discussing the cursed and vicious nature of a sword* Also Tekking: *keeps cutting self on cured sword* Still Tekking: "Ow, what is with this sword?"
great vid. just think you missed a couple things. 1) sanji and zoro. their rivalry actually began in arlong park. sanji and him got in to an argument about nami had killed ussop or not. sanji belived nami hadn't betrayed them. zoro was sure she did. after that day they never got on even terms again. 2) zoro and chopper. i think zoro sees chopper as a little brother... yes the sky island scene with chopper laying defeted on the ground. us could tell zoro was hella pissed. also in the foxy pirates arc. chopper was crying cus he wanted to go back to the SHP zoro slammed his bottle in the ground and told him men dont cry. that to me is a very brotherly comment known damn well that chopper is still a kid 3) zoro and robin. the reason he was all for saving her is cus the SHP knew she had left in order to save them from the buster call. thats why he got so angry at haku when he made that comment about robin and thats when you see zoro just go all out
I fell in love with zoro when he was fighting in line garden with number 3 and as they are getting waxed zoro strikes a pose and is going to cut his legs off
2:50 I remember when it was, "Who was stronger, Sanji or Zoro?" and when that was a legitimate question, I'd say they were equal. BUT THEY THREW THAT SHIT OUT THE WINDOW DOWN DIDN'T THEY.
Az Az Youre right Im just saying that sanji must have something more. I mean he didn't use a new thing since the time skip and all the time he fought something he was weakened before hand or the opponent is just way too strong (doffy).
True I hope Sanji really get a moment to show his true power, but regarding Zoro vs sanji, I never saw them as equal, only has brother who want to be better than the other for no matter what, I always taught Zoro was closer to Luffy, than to sanji in term of figthing.
About robin. Actually during water 7 zorro learned about robin making a deal with the cp9 to let them leave safely in exchange of her working with then. That actually made zorro wanted to rescue robin too, Not just because luffy wanted it.
I disagree about zoro and chopper, I'd even argue that chopper is zoro's best friend, zoro is always fishing him out of the sea when he panics and jumps in
Zorro is almost like choppers big brother like in alabasta he carries chopper on that board also zorros always saving chopper like when he jumps off the ship
I felt that the moment with kuma in thriller bark or the moment in the east blue when Zoro promised never to be defeated again,I felt those moments where some of his best moments
Tashigi will probably somehow end up on Wano. As for getting new swords, I dunno. He may have to return Shushui to Wano, though most likely have to prove it chose him as its wielder somehow, likely some badass sword fight. One of my favorite scenes with Zoro and Sanji is a little throwaway scene where they're washing dishes, and Sanji keeps saying his name every time he hands over a plate, and it just bugs Zoro. It's this little nothing scene, but I always found it funny. They really are like siblings. Zoro is the brother Sanji was never able to annoy and truly rival, so I think he honestly enjoys having that rivalry. Zoro is a man who exists to prove himself, and having a rival, even a semi-friendly one like Sanji, is kind of just... a part of who he is. If it wasn't Sanji, it'd be Luffy or Franky. He'd have to have a rival always there. It's just who he is. He needs a constant reminder to surpass someone. Someone who can actually challenge him (though neither will ever admit it). Also: I support Zoro/Robin. Zorobin I think the shippers call it. I dunno. But Robin seems to be one of the few to just... get Zoro, and she's always smiling when dealing with him. Almost teasing...

Great leaders don’t need specific skills other than leadership. But what they need, and what Luffy understands, is that they have to have the best experts in certain fields to manage specific duties. So Luffy from the start has been looking for the best people to manage certain roles so they can be the best pirate crew. Nami is like the Chief Operating Officer. She makes sure the ship is run smoothly. But ultimately she answers to Luffy, who sets the agenda. That’s what he does. That’s all he needs to do. He lets his experts take it from there. Zoro advises Luffy, backs up Luffy, protects Luffy and the crew, and that’s his role as First Officer.
Albert Kekstein that’s just your opinion.. oda loves his fans.. if it will make his fans happy to make a romantic end and op is simply going to end, I don’t see him not doin it..
Zoro and Chopper have some of the best moments in the series. OFC you couldn’t remember them all but there’s this really good non-canon scene of Zoro and Chopper in the desert during the Alabasta Arc with Zoro explaining to Chopper why he and the crew are individuals yet still a team at the same time. There’s also the speech Zoro gave Chopper during the Foxy Arc and how Zoro is always the one to go after Chopper if he ever gets in water. Chopper always rides on Zoro’s shoulder too and he just lets him hang there. One time Chopper even put Zoro in the Walls of Jericho lol. It’s infinitely cute.
On the subject of Chopper and Zoro's relationship, I think there's something to be said on Chopper's respect for him. One of the main examples that come to mind is when we find that Zoro is an atheist. Chopper or Nami, can't remember which, says something about how he should fear "God" Enel, then Zoro says, "Sorry, but I never pray to God." Then in a smaller panel he says "I don't even believe in a god, so why the hell should I care?" To this, Chopper says something like, "So cool!" with sparkling eyes. This is significant because although he has just been depicted as a theist, he called Zoro's remark "cool". Granted, he was likely referring to Zoro's tone of voice or something, but as it doesn't seem to have been what he said, that shows just how much Chopper respects him - even such 'small' things like his tone of voice.
appreciate your hard work bro i really think Zoro is the most interesting member of the straw hats his style , his goal and his loyalty makes him very interesting all above he's a badass looking you said it yourself all those who have seen Zoro thought he is the captain although Luffy is might be a little stronger but he is the stupidly nice person and that's exactly what makes the fan comparing to two cause Zoro is always a sharp personality type
Zoro's too plain and simple but Robin though, she's still full of mystery. We don't even know if she's a full pledged strawhat given that she didn't give a response when Kuma asked if their lives in exchange for luffy.
i know this is late but man i got the chills when tekking was talking about that moment when zoro absorbed all the injury and fatigue from luffy, best moment of zoro.
