I love this open dialogue because even though I'm not the eldest, I am the second oldest. Overtime I've acquired ALOT of others' responsibilities and I realized in my 27th year as well, that I need to be more selfish for myself. In all aspects of life. Speaking up can be nerve-racking, but once you are firm in what you want not only do you validate yourself, but you also get this better understanding of self, thus leading you in the path that you always wanted.

Im not the oldest, but I did grow up as an only child (in the home- my sister is 11 years older and we were never close) to emotional immature parents. I was expected to be liked, happy, and be a "good girl" to get love from them. I couldn't do anything really for ME. It was always to impress parents, friends, or to "follow the rules". This is so relateable.
