I was fascinated by the implication of the muscle being more important as protection from a common fracture that could otherwise be life threatening (in the olden eons).

The diagram at 4:30 shows compression of the artery, nerve, and vein between clavicle and first rib but the video doesnt address it in detail. Whats the intended point of that diagram? Is compression considered normal or are there symptoms and causes for compression that are abnormal?

You could live without it - but - for a singer, subclavius cold give you the little extra lift of the sternum that opens your sound and saves your livelihood;)
