That still doesn't change the fact that there are 49 million kangaroos in Australia and there are 3 million people in Uruguay which means if the kangaroos were to invade Uruguay each person would have to fight 14 kangaroos
Here in the Philippines, people know how strong Feng is because of one player: Titan Thor. He is one of the best Fengs in the Philippines but what made him stand out of his use of the ki-charge setup and parries
My sweet summer child, if you haven't heard of SenDC you haven't seen a truly scary Feng player. He's the strongest Feng player in the ph that even Sunchip recognizes.
Feng was my first character in Tekken I dedicated myself to learning and I only picked him because I thought he looked cool. I just started learning to play well enough with him and now everyones saying hes too strong and needs nerfs. Feelsbad.
I remember at Rev major in the phillipines knee showed off his feng tech but at the time he hadnt yet acended and JDCR’s dragunov was too strong, we didnt see that much of his feng since his recent switch that really showed off how effective that style is and how he benefited from getting buffs all these years
I was just about to comment about that Rev major set. Knee was picking Feng like 5 years ago. I think Knee's engagement with Pakistan really perfected his overall play style and allowed him to use Feng to an even greater effect. Back then vs JDCR I recall it very much felt like the players were mostly restricting themselves to 2D movement, whereas after training against Arslan that 3rd dimension is utilised to an equal extent.
I kept getting DESTROYED by my older brother's Dragunov but switched to Feng for the first time: changed my entire tekken play and go on streaks in the double digits. Now that he is buffed? People including my brother complain, like with Fahkumram all over again.
It probably helps that Feng's kit is a natural, deliberate counter to Drag's. It's why Knee used him so much in S1 and then pretty much completely dropped him until recently.
Arslan Ash was the first guy who highlighted through his tier-list that Feng is the third strongest character in the game after Akuma and Geese. Plus he also mentioned that Feng is Zafina's bad matchup. After his tweets I knew Knee was going to play Feng. Knee's engagement with the Pakistani Tekken has helped him improve and make good choices. That is amazing in my opinion.
Today, players are talking about how everyone is now noticing that Feng Wei is such a strong character and was a dark horse before. He was like a hidden gem which nobody noticed. Believe me guys, a day will come when players will talk about Bob and Shaheen and how powerful they are as these 2 characters have almost everything and you can pressurise the opponent by doing heavy mixups. Bob and Shaheen are still hidden gems.
I don't understand how nobody noticed him. I feel like a person doesn't understand the fundamentals of this game if they think these aren't strong characters.
Fun breakdown as always tmm. I'm very curious about the day where we all finally have to settle with how this game remains. How much longer will they keep "patching up" T7? I'm no know-it-all on that field but could one of the reasons behind the next Tekken's slow development be due to the community's insatiable need for balance?
This may be an unpopular opinion but… I really don’t give a shit that an actual Tekken character is top tier. I’d rather lose to a Feng than any DLC or 2D character. I’m cool with where Feng is
even if a character is buffed or not. in the end you have to master a character to be a good player. it's so sad that everyone is always complaining about each character when he got buffed. just play the game with your favourite character and study frames and start to practice. instead of always complaining.
Feng's always been good. Ya'll just slept on him since Tekken 5. Knee used him in Rev major and it was insane. Didn't get the spotlight until he won with Feng in EVO. Feng is not 'broken". He's consistently good. Ya'll just ignores him.
TMM is right !! We will indeed see more feng! feng is chosen by pro players because its their full time job to study frames and compete well. Being sponsored makes you responsible to pick the character that will allow you to WIN, failing your sponsor gets you dropped. Although most of us dont play professionally the content we consume online features pros so we will all be seeing more and more feng!
Love Feng. Shifting Clouds has alot of cool interactions. Apparently Hwoarang's unlockable counts as 2 attacks? Edit: as for your commentary, I agree with most of the buffs being necessary, but I want to keep the db 3 throw. It just looks so cool!
So I think Feng is a great example of the correct way to buff a character over time. He isnt really playing a different game like the 2d characters and by no means is he boss character broken. He just has essential tools that make him an overall good character. Meaning no gimmicks, just fundamental stuff. I think they could make minor changes to other characters and basically balance the game out entirely. Which is unlikely but you never know
A year and a half ago I used to say Feng Wei was brutal to fight against, especially with his evasiveness. I kept hearing over and over again he was garbage.
A classic case of people needing to be told what to think. I agree and always thought Feng was a chore to deal with, but the Tekken Community knows best....until the Character dominates Majors and wins Tournaments lol.
@@arkhamprinxe Exactly! People aren't thinking for themselves. They rely on the tournament/popular players tier list- like play the damn game for yourself!
@@momop788 they do, and thats why low rank tier lists are different Most people (myself included) are not good enough nor are their opponents good enough to make this assessment
@@reedOsama Are you agreeing or disagreeing with what I said? I don't entirely mean that the causals don't play at all, they just take other people's word for it.
Yes I agree with you, But there's another character buffed from the beginning is Notics with his invisible long swords, Could reach you from a mile !!! 😅
I've been getting back into Tekken after having not really played since season 1, and the amount of shit Feng's been given is absolutely fucking staggering His combos were horrible at launch, and it was such a shame after having some cool stuff in Tag 2
There are so many Feng mains in the Philippines who love the fact that his moves are busted and abuse it. Waiting for the nerfs to come because its tiring to fight to 4th Feng in a 5 man battle
I think Miguel has also become strong because now his SAV UF3 is a counter hit launcher. It is fast, mid, safe on block, wall splat, good range, creates good distance on block and this move itself on counter hit gives 30 damage.
@@LuxionXB yes, btw if tekken developers give him these 3 buffs, I think he'll become op 1. Forces opponent to full crouch on SAV DB3 2. SAV B1,4 becomes safe on block 3. If they bring back his Tekken 6 F2 which was a fast counter hit launcher and I think it was safe on block.
@@thefirestone8705 Yeah, it's nice they gave him a 12 frame punish (i think), but removing his old F2 was so stupid, it was one of the only good things he had
While Caiper beating Arslan with Feng was probably an upset to some, I don't think it meant much in the grand scheme of things. That kind of thing happens regularly. And sure, Feng was already said to be strong even in earlier seasons. But this goes for a lot of other characters as well, people saying this and that are "top-tier" or "one of the best characters in the game" (Jin, Julia, 2D chars, etc.) yet we never saw these characters much or they never got any grand final wins. Even after multiple buffs, absolutely none of these things about Feng would be talked about had Knee not won EVO with him. So yes, Knee put him on the radar.
I can tell you why he is suddenly popular and S tier. Its 99% because Knee won. EVO with him. The problem sometimes with tier lists and popularities is that people only follow pros or other certain people and their opinions. They don’t think for themselves and repeat what others say. No one played feng before knee and he wasn’t popular nor considered super SSS Tier. But now he suddenly is. He was always very good
Mainman can never look at the bigger picture but it gives him free content like these videos so people eat it up Tekken 7 has had bad balance because they don’t know how to fix outside of damage routinely
I was Hwoarang player but only played Tekken 3. Mostly I played Bloody Roar 2 with Long The Tiger character. Later I got Playstation 3 and saw Tekken 6 Feng Wei trailer and i was sure that I want to play this character, because he have the fighting style that I'm interested in, so I leaved Hwoarand. I don't care about meta or some tricks.
I actually don't like it when they dumb down (buff a lot) my main. I used to play Hwoarang my entire life (I started with Tekken 3 as well) until Season 3 has happened when Bamco gave him another Baek Doo San move d/f, 1, 3 and a hopkick from flamingo stance in Season 4. He doesn't feel as a unique character anymore, with big weaknesses. He now just feels more like a modern Tekken character with a lot of BS plus frames moves, having answers for every situation you encounter and forcing your opponent into constant 50/50 mix up.
@@Eedorian you know, I hate hworang as much as the next guy BUT i really do feel like he still has identity. More than most characters at least. He still has weak punishment (which he should bcuz he has so much pressure) and he has to go into stances (which he cant block from) to use the BS plus frames and mix ups. I dont wanna seem crazy, but playing hworang optimaly at a high level is actually pretty difficult. He still has his defined weaknesses but kinda modernized? I was not around old tekken as when tag 2 was released I was like 4. I dont know much tho, these are just my 2 cents
@@suna7511 They buffed his WS punishment with the last installment though. Hwoa didn't have a WS launcher up until Tekken 7. Your best option in the past games would be crouch cancel into b+3, which comes out at 18 frames, now he has u/b, 3, 3 (i16, used to be i15 in Season 1) and his WS3 didn't guarantee b+3 or f, f 3 before. His "tsunami kicks", WS4, 4, do more damage now as well. Just frame sky rocket used to be -11 with a pushback on block, Gigas was able to punish it. Yes, he is still somehow unique, but a lot safer, his best wall carry combo is easier and does more damage than the execution-heavy one he used to have in Season 1 and the list goes on.
hello to all Feng players I just discovered something quite interesting. As you know before the 5.01 update it was possible to follow the b1+2 just after his ff3 or his db1+2 which was guaranteed but the update made this impossible. But I realized that after a wall splat if you did f4.3 you could guarantee b1+2. Try it, it works quite well. Don't give me back it's gifts 🤣
Ranked is a mess nowadays. I feel like I shouldn't be seeing orange ranks with 300,000+ level prowess. People just staying in low ranks to beat up on noobs or what? 😵💫😂
@@seanyoung9014 Alot of players with TG and above ranks use their secondaries alot in ranked. So not shocking to see many players these days in orange to purple ranks with 300k+ prowess.
It has to be with the carisma and charm of the character what makes your choice, if that wasn't the reason, every body will be playing characters like feng wei, leo, claudio... instead of legacy characters and the ones they think are cool. Personally I love playing Jin because i love Kyokushin Karate, is my first character also. And i have been through problems with his range, but is just time and patience what leads to victory with him even when he is supper buff, you cannot just pick him and wait for him to get you a victory.
Anyone who has seen DreadPrince play knew of Feng's potential. S4 really took him over the top with df43, db3 ch thing, and the punch parry window increase, not to mention damage buffs. I think he wasn't particularly good in S2 and 3, but in S4 he was really powered up. I think in s4 the reduced wall carry does affect him a bit, but he's still super strong. I think the reason they buffed the damage on shoulder and other things is because of the HP increase across the board, they didn't want to screw poking heavy characters. But with the new combo potential, Feng had lost his only true weakness.
Since I came back to Tekken 7 a couple of days ago (told myself I'll come back if there's no Jack in top 8 at evo) I have fought: Kuni, Zafina, Eliza, AK, Negan, Leroy, Master Raven, Yoshi, Drag, Hwo, Law, Akuma, Kazuya, Kazumi, Lili, Lars, Xiaoyu, Kuma, Miguel, Bryan, King, Steve, Josie, Katarina, Jin, Asuka, Alisa, Leo & Eddy. So far not a single Feng. Guess they're all in higher ranks :D Anyway, having fun rediscovering Anna. It was between her, Zafina and Kunimitsu and I was undecided but she's the character I remembered the most about (took me like 5 minutes to remember the basic combos) and then I found out there's a Bayonetta mod for Anna (and omg it's a perfect match) and that was that.
I agree that Feng needs nerfs but DON'T attack his identity that has been thus since t5, Adrian.. His neutral game has always been insane, he has quite a few 0 -1 OB moves - His df1 should always stay 0 on block, it makes him different, CH animation can get removed tho - B4 another tool that defines Feng since T5, it's i12, basically marking, i say basically cause Lili could step it perhaps?? How come u didn't mind this move before? Why is tracking on his B4 so massive of a problem? - B1 shouldn't be touched, an iconic move that's also punishable - WS1 (-1 OB) the same thing, frame shouldn't be touched, it can go back to i14 tho - and lastly kenpo, this stance used to be even better actually, it's fine the way it is Again, nerfs?? Yes but let's not touch moves that define Feng Wei Also how about making a video about Akuma since you already made 2 about Feng
now feng wei is lore accurate, he did obtain the secret scroll after beating jinpachi and punched an entire mountain in half, now we can be his mountain.
@@blockchainballer4542 he has evasion and small damage. that was his original design. his gameplan was to frustrate and cut you little by little. now he hits like a truck
My biggest problem with this character is that he’s a god at poking and evasion. Which would be fine but he can also magically be an amazing turtle with the back sway. So when it finally is your turn (it never is), you have to go try and catch him and hope he makes a mistake and whiff
@@raveelemental4928 it's the opposite case really. Feng is so strong, the amount of effort needed to produce wins is low compare to other characters. Weak and strong alike As a Feng main he became really boring for me.he is too strong yet so easy to play. There is No challenge reaching TGP for this beast. At least with geese and akuma, you need your brain to do a combo because of the execution requirements but with feng wei you only need half your nervous system this Includes the character as a whole.
@@whatwhy6349 I was talking about playing against Feng, not as him. You might not enjoy him, but a lot of people just want the free wins with a braindead character. No way around it unless Feng gets nerfed
Leroy 6 out of 8 top 8 Feng 1 top 16 or so He's good at lower intermediate levels, at least in my eyes. Only Knee (Joey Fury and Caiper/Joka to a far lesser extent) has made him work at the highest levels, that tells us he probably isn't as easy to win with against the best Tekken players
People don't know Feng was already good when Hao was using it early tekken version days and Knee used to matched up against him like scrims for online contents and team tournaments preparation. Early Feng users knows thst Hao was the template and some variations or changes were added due to update on their movements.
People simply didn’t notice Feng S4 buffs when they were playing launch Leroy instead. They they switched to Fahkumram and then to Lidia. All of these characters were better than S4 Feng at launch. Then they all got nerfed a few times and Feng got slightly ahead. And now S5 nerfs put Feng clearly ahead.
Feng’s i10 CH move feels fair when you compare it to launch Leroy’s CH moves. The i10 second hit had great tracking and it was safe to hit confirm. i12 mid was -4 with pushback. Block it and opponent can still step or backdash and launch you. CH was 80 damage.
b1+2 recovery was insane. You couldn’t whiff punish it on reaction. And it was 20 damage on normal hit against crouchers to. Better than df1 and faster. In comparison Feng’s CH move was unsafe. No wonder they buffed the followup damage. Felt fair vs launch Leroy.
@@CaseOfBears I used to play Feng as second main in S1 and S2, but after that I switched to Leroy, believe me even now Feng can't touch Leroy with all these nerffs.
Actually even season 4 Feng is far better than S4 fahk and leroy. Because of the hate in community against fahk, leroy and other bs DLC chars, Feng never mentioned. Dj, akuma, geese are execution necessarry chars, but Feng is so simple, so you can focus your fundemantals. And Feng is type of the character can reward hugely your fundemantals. Ideal tournement char.
So hard finding matches online these days on Playstation. And once you find one, it gives you "connecting" for like 1-2 mins before it times out. The hell is going on? And I'm on wired with 750 mbps FFS!
i used feng fr back then just because it was toxic before and hes really good so thats why i dont use him no more cuz it was too easy to get past ranks, so thats why it motivated me to play other characters
What people don’t understand like my boy credit to master spreader Feng forces you to be fundamentally sound. You have to be patient and you cannot mash against kenpo if u are in neutral and he has distance refrain from doing one hit attacks all the time to deal with kenpo do moves the go forward to interrupt kenpo. You have to side step well when he’s closing the gap distance wise Fengs frames are safe on a lot of moves because he doesn’t have a lot of strings his moves are in and out. You have to space well fengs reach is really short crouch dash ws 1 and db3 are his only real close in options Again feng forces you to play tekken defensively while some characters require heavy execution and requires you to be offensively sound offensively fighting a feng is opposite you have to be defensively sound. U keep talking about db3 but knee rarely used it on Evo i wonder why because it’s a risk he used d2 as his main low smh
@@Sereja_Blincheg I mean casuals get wrecked by feng because they don’t lab, if u don’t lab unorthodox characters u get wrecked period, if u don’t lab a bear character and u fight a good bear u lose period, if u don’t lab eddy, and u fight a good eddy u lose period or u win by pure flow chart or very uncleanly. Feng is a lab character some blue rank players and lower will lose to feng im telling these players what’s needed to beat him higher rank players know what’s up already . So what ur saying doesn’t make sense The higher u go the harder u have to work with feng don’t believe me try it and write back ppl talk shit but they aren’t in the shoes of other people u can take any unorthodox character and shred your way to blue ranks but after that is when u start to realize this character and that character has major flaws and u need to learn the game of (Tekken) that’s what I’m trying to get at
I haven't played in let's say a year. Went to a convention where they had Tekken 7 on one of the consoles, and they had a few guys playing already. Me being rusty and playing the same way that I normally play I ended up steamrolling every one of my opponents. I didn't rely on Sabaki or the DB+3 with the counter... I just played the same ol' Feng that I've always played... Poke, wait + bait, and punished... The fundamentals of Feng, I guess 😏
@@bsgk-red taking breaks from tekken is good I picked up tekken for the first time 2 years ago been playing on and off and I notice when I come back I’m a lot better for some reason.playing nonstop can be draining But now that I’m playing better comps I need to be more consistent and lab more I noticed to keep up
@@CritixalLegend True... I prefer playing in a public or group setting... Grew up playing in the arcades. They seem to talk less shit when in person 😂😂
I remember when Feng was first introduced in vanilla T5 that he was actually pretty popular, he was even one of my go-to characters initially, I loved playing as him because he was really strong, nobody knew how to fight him and even the A.I could be cheesed by him easily, so I used to play him against friends, in arcades, in survival and arcade mode to abuse the red light trick in order to get a boat load of game currency, but for some reason I dropped Feng Wei before I even got to play DR and never really paid attention to him in 6 and Tag 2, it wasn't until relatively recently in season 4 that I decided to pick him more often than usual.
@@alexfzg9936 He wasn't my main, Paul was always my main, but I really liked Feng Wei when I was initially introduced to Tekken 5, I still think he was a good newcomer, but he's far from being one of my favorites.
Dude I've been yelling it for years: this character has always been too good. Why on earth is df3 safe? Why on earth is uf2 safe?? Why on earth is back kenpo step safe??? There's hardly any risk to using this character's amazing tools, I'm sincerely stunned when Feng try to defend him - like, what could possibly be your argument for a move like df3 being completely safe - its not even -9!!!
Feng Wei was a decent character that power crept every season, due to the massive changes he got every season. Season 3 was where he started to get really good, and then in S4...he became very very strong.
it's not "sudden popularity", Japanese and Korean players have been using Feng since Season 3...They need to get rid of the db3 CH and make the shoulder to 25-28 damage.
I don’t think he’s AS bad as people are saying, none of his mids have any range lol, I just make sure to keep at least 1 back dash away and he basically can’t launch you at all. I think zafina and Leo are FAR worse offenders, but that’s just my opinion
It's simple. The character was already strong. Top tiers got nerfed, making room for him. Things could be alright this way, BUT he got buffed for no reason ontop of this, so now he's quite overpowered.
Played Feng from day one. As long as they don’t mess with his main set of 10f to 15f I’m cool. Most of the buffs were necessary for viable variety. I see that B1+2 damage buff does need to go down and punch parry to full combo is ridiculous. The other buff changes are necessary more for viable variety. Counter hit db3 was needed for honest mid poking, as is also how I view df3,4. The combo length buffet is necessary as stated that it’s a “combo fiesta” in game. Its also so stylish and satisfying to watch. But other than damage (which mainly could be solved by a delicate nerf to shoulder) and punch party.. he’s good, not op. Tekken guys are finding that line where characters are competitively good but still maintain Identity as well as become more offensive which plays to spectator entertainment and more enjoyment for all. Which is why some characters are remaining strong and mostly untouched (Zafina, Jin, Marduk, etc).
Its not i hate the character, its more so, i hate the meta hoppers now that knee won evo there is an inflation of fengs like 3 out of 5 games are fengs, people that would plateau with their main are now 3 or 4 ranks higher than their main, its like they all think they will get tekken god, but then they run into someone like me who can play the small game and they immediately quit! Lmao, i even had a feng plug on me, while using DRAG! Are all meta hoppers this pathetic 🤣🤣
I now feel bad for liking Feng; I liked playing him ever since T5 though (I quite frankly never played online and am a huge scrub; but I really like characters like Drag/Bryan/Feng because their strikes really feel impactful to me.. in a way different to other characters)
You could say he was better in season 1 because his back kenpo was busted as fuck so they nerfed it and no one played Feng. I have a screenshot of a video mainman made of season 3 buffs and the title was "nice buffs for the 3 Feng mains". No one played this character and he's been good for awhile.
