Thank you to Beautiful Destinations for trusting my vision for this piece. From going into the trip with little knowledge to now being really informed in the end. It was quite the journey personally, and I’m happy I could share the adventure with you. I hope you learned something new from watching this. ❤️✨
I see what you did there.. ⚡"Sometimes all it can take is finding a single video to open your eyes" You succeeded. I wasn't aware of this situation, but your message is clear. Btw, is that Cabbagetown at the end? How I look forward walking the streets of Toronto again!
Killlllled that edit JR ! Such a great shoot. Dude I’ll never forget sleeping in tents in the Sumatran Jungle and the monstrous moths attacking us in the pitch dark 😂 I miss this. Also at 3:13 people don't realize how sketchy this was. We climbed the fences of a palm oil plantation and started to film the workers. Eventually people knew we were there and we had to run and jump in the car and bolt. So many memories.
Super proud of you two for bringing this story to life. Great work JR & Jake. So excited for this to be live. I hope its messaging can help change people's consumption behaviours going forward. It's videos like this that can have a positive impact on things.
Wow, goose bumps and tears in my eyes! I've learned about that problem a few years ago and have boycotted all products with unsustainable palm oil ever since. It makes me very happy to see talented filmmakers standing up for it and talking about that issue in public. So well done!
Using your voices to share important conservation stories makes a difference - and shows how good filmmaking can be used to portray an important topic making it beautiful and still very informative. Well done JR and Jake :)
This video made me cry. Good to see your videos are not just about beautiful destinations anymore. Since beginning I am big fan of your transitions. Keep it up guys.
JR, what a legend. I had an idea about the negatives about thePalm Oil Industry, but thanks to you and BP for digging deep and displaying the direct effects that it has on our world. I hope we can make conscious decisions to help combat the issue and also donate where necessary to help the livelihood of such beautiful creatures. I will be making changes myself and hope that others will to! Thanks BD and JR!
beautiful work JR! i did a research paper on orangutans and the palm oil industry for my animal science course last year and it was crazy seeing just how much human impacts and profit motives are affecting biodiversity. thank you for this condensed video, please continue to do more amazing work!
Hats off to these individuals on the frontline, safeguarding the forests and orangutans. Also, your video is absolutely lit, thank you for creating it. Hope that both policies and a wider audience become increasingly aware of this alarming situation
Can't stressed enough how inspired I am after watching this. Great editing, excellent storytelling and most importantly, the message relayed by JR to raise awareness of the issue of unsustainable products consumption. I absolutely loved this.
Congratulations on a beautiful production, but also the strong message that now, we have a very unique opportunity to make a huge difference to sustainability in this world, and to preserve our natural resources. Let's do it !
What a wonderful video. I don't usually watch whole videos, but this one immediately caught my attention. Stunning camera, perfect edit and even more amazing story. Good job!
Respect man, we as filmmakers should make more videos about awareness. Thanks, big Thanks! We are the generation that have to change the world! I wish i was able to make a video like this.
Beautifully done, and fantastic message. So awesome to see the inspirational Wiza featured. Thanks for your hard work in putting this together, we love it!
I proud of you JR.. Bring this message to the world.. It's hard to say that's i'm Indonesian too.. I'm one of them who destroyed our forest and ecosystem on there.. 🌳🌲 but i hope my people's watch your message and got it.. What should them do... 😔
The message is well delivered. Thank you for bring this up, I hope we can protect the forest and safe of this amazing creature "Orang Hutan". Thank you JR 🙏
This is so cool! Totally open my eyes about this issue. I live in Sumatra, pass those plantation every year, and don't even realized that it's so close yet local people don't understand this issue.
Thanks for spreading this awareness! Greetings from Indonesia and i hope we can maintain sustainability in Indonesia especially our forest in Sumatra and Borneo! Thank you JR Alli and Beautiful Destinations team! We love you ❤️
I didn't knew a lot about this, very well done JR & Jake..😁Nowadays, I see the message getting lost due to dominant visuals. I'm glad this isn't the case in this production. I especially liked the "simplicity" of the sequence at the end. This makes you listen very closely. It's just you giving some very specific, useful and practical advise. Must feel amazing to be part of platform where impactful stories like these still matter and are being told. Keep doing good guys 🙌
I'm 2 minutes in and I'm already pausing to comment, that this is so dope so far! JR is such a great storyteller! Literally a dream of mine to film content like this.
Thank you for making this video. The destruction of the rain forest for palm oil is such a major issue, and people do not think nearly enough about what goes into their food and beauty products. Palm oil also goes by many different names, and is included especially in a ton of products branded as "vegan", such as vegan butters and snacks as a fat substitute. Hopefully by sharing your video, people will become more aware of this issue.
Thank you Beautiful Destinations for making not only such a beautiful piece of art but also for opening the eyes of many to what's really happening to the world today. Salute to the team who protects the wildlife, FKL Rangers, and mostly to Ms. Farwiza Farhan for bringing her voice into the bigger platform. Unfortunately, the reality is that population is continuously growing and we are facing biodiversity crisis. The demand for personal and consumable products are rising and the cities are rapidly expanding which pushes the forests to its unbreathable limits. People don't care when buying whether the product is from sustainable or unsustainable source. That is why it is a must for the government and the manufacturers to impose such protective regulations in order to save the environment. If the nature speaks. They would be thankful for the COVID-19 virus for doing its job to eliminate not only humans but also the harmful activity that the humans do to the environment.
Hello, i'm from indonesia. thank you for coming to Indonesia. I like the story of this film which raises the problem between humans and orangs utan. 😎😎
That is amazing. I cannot believe the sheer amount of working hours that were needed to create such a complex piece of art. Because, after all, that's really what it is. There's so much aesthetical value in every single minute, in the details - still shocked by beauty of the shot at 0:46. In contrast to that stands, of course, the topic. I've known about this since years, as a 10-year-old, I actually went around my neighbourhood to collect money (to buy a piece of the rainforest) with a self-drawn information poster. At the end, I gave the money (400€!) to an organization that is protecting the Borneo rainforest. Ever since then, I did abstain from palm oil and avoided buying any product with it. So, thank you for raising further awareness! However... whenever I'll feel blue about the ugliness of the city I live in, I'll return to this. (To then [sigh] feel blue about the atrocities of humans on the other side of the planet and the inconvenient consequences/by-products of capitalism.) Keep it up!
