I am genuinely having so much fun playing Smash Remix, and they still have so much more on its way! Seriously, check it out if you haven't already!

When Dark Samus is more unique in Smash Remix than she is in Smash Ultimate

Funny thing is that this mod was made because someone completely lied about making an N64 mod to have a bunch of characters, stages, and music. Then Smash Remix did just that but actually done it.

Imagine if nintendo just said yeah nice work time to license these mods and release it as a physical cart and on current gen consoles

And let's not forget about the best origins for Metal Mario that is PLAYABLE

And just as a note to all you full grown kiddos out there: DON'T BLOW INTO YOUR N64 CARTRIDGE!!

I honestly have more fun playing as Bowser in this mod than in any other game, I'm not even kidding.

Pretty sure everyone knew Smash Remix by their extended characters and stages, 64 version of Melee-Brawl characters, and ofc, original characters that wasn't in Smash at all (Piano and Conker).

I know that it's very unlikely, but I really hope Joker gets in. If he doesn't, at least Mementos is a stage and there's other amazing characters in it, so either way, I'm grateful

Have you every thought about doing a stage origin series? You are really good when it comes to informational videos, such as this one, and having you explaining origins and references in each stage would be dope

you say it's perfectly playable on console (with expansion pak) but what I really want to know is : Is it playable on Wii ? I have mediocre PC where emulating N64 might be a problem, but if I can emulate it on the Wii that would be so great !

Super Smash Bros 64 Remix, is a Enjoyable Experience, not only because it's a modded upgrade of Smash 64, but it's also a Fun Game, that many people can have a blast. I give it, 9/10.

I'm not educated on the subject, but I know that creating custom characters for Melee was a bit of a holy grail of the Smash modding scene because no one could seem to figure out how to actually do it for a really long time. I'm pretty sure the first custom character for Melee was Wolf who was only released earlier this year in January. From what I understand it largely had to do with importing custom character models into the game, as well as programming custom animations, and from what I've seen Smash 64 seemed to have a very similar issue. It seems like people cracked the code at around the same time for each game, so it would make sense if both games had similar issues.

The way you describe Wario makes me think a video from you about how you think characetrs might have played differently if they'd debuted in earlier Smash titles could be interesting.

This mod has been very fun. Made my friend excited to see his favorite smash 64 has mods with new characters and stages. Hopefully they can add peach king dedede king k rool diddy banjo and mewtwo someday who knows even the scrapped marth before joining in melee joins remix

In a perfect world, I would give the mod authors beaucoup $$$ for Remix. I haven't bought a full-price game in years, and I have *never* paid for a mod before. I understand that they need to tread carefully around Ninty's legislative zeal, but I hope that - when the final version is released and widely disseminated - they will accept donations. All my friends grew up playing Smash 64; before this mod, I hated playing with them since I couldn't find a main and was totally outmatched. Then, I buy a 64+Everdrive for my wife's birthday, and I'm suddenly enjoying playing with Dorf, Doc, Bowser, Wario... My friend (a full-blown creature of habit) has mained Link on the same nine stages for TWO DECADES. After a month of playing, he switches to Young Link and even messes around with Wario and other characters. Prior to Remix, it was unthinkable that he would play even a single round as someone other than Link. Not only is this mod a technical marvel (how tf did they get Big Blue running on OG hardware??), and not only have they included wholly original creations like Mad Piano and Conker, but Remix is now our #1 pasttime by far. It's one thing to invent novelties for novelty's sake, but it's another to make those inventions addictively fun.

As someone who mostly just did texture and music mods back in my brawl hacking days, I know making an entire move set for a character is a massive undertaking, so I have a feeling of just how much effort must have went into doubling the playable roster of Smash 64. It's a shame I broke my laptop... My bang bang Luigi mod where he shoots fireballs from his fingertips for his neutral special will never see the light of day...

Duke Nukem would be fantastic for this. He could even keep his original voice lines in all of their bit crushed glory.

Seeing this mod makes me hope people find a way to create custom character slots in Smash Ultimate and make their own fighter passes

It really is fascinating coming back to this video after more content has been added to Smash Remix, such as Sonic, Marina and Goemon as Fighters, or the adjustments to Young Link's moveset. Like, everything about the mod is still true, but so much more was added to the meta since this talking point that it feels worth revisiting.

2:31 I would love to see Ganondorf use his Smash moves in a Zelda game. Imagine a boss fight where if you got caught in on attack, he could follow it up with a Warlock Punch. I'm hoping we get Banjo Kazooie in a future update of Remix. Even if they have to use a different move-set. Also hoping to see Bomberman.

I personally think they should add Monty Mole from the 80's PC game series (Known for such games as Monty On The Run and Auf Wiedersehen Monty)

That well be awesome if are not the classics characters but sometimes but we need more Mods from video games movies and TV shows in Smash 64 :)

For those watching this video in 2023. They've added King Dedede, Marina from Mischief Makers, Sheik, Marth, Mewtwo, Sonic (and Super Sonic), and even the Polygons (Including new Polygons for the new characters). If that wasn't enough, you can even play the different versions of the base roster, such as PAL Pikachu or Japanese Kirby. There are almost as many stages in this game as Smash 4, and there are options to turn off movement/hazards on all of them, plus Omega/Battlefield versions for some. And yes, this runs on a real N64, if you have an Everdrive or anything similar, it plays on it. Getting on Netplay with Project 64 also totally works and it handles the game pretty well (Sometimes desyncs but it's manageable).

Another great addition would be James Bond. I mean, Goldeneye sold N64s like nobody's business, and they could just move many of Solid Snake's moves to him. Fun fact, he was even considered for inclusion in Melee

I just want to say that as a kid I LOVED Smash 64. And I did play things like Brawl and Ultimate later briefly, but Smash 64 always remained my all-time favorite. A few weeks ago I found the cart for Smash Remix 1.3.1 for the 64 while just browsing online and it arrived yesterday and I've been playing it almost constantly. I absolutely love it

I really like the fact that they based their Wario version on the Warioland games. I wish this series would come back. While I enjoy Warioware, it always seemed like a justification to release minigames collections than anything else.

I'd love to see you do this style of video for other more niche Smash mods, like Beyond Melee, PM Remix, 4xM, etc.

Nice man I have always wanted to check this mod out ever since it did come out! I'm surprised you didn't wait until both Marth and Mewtwo came out so you could talk about this game then. I also am surprised that you didn't talk about Super Smash Brothers Melee 64 where it has all the cast of Melee in Smash 64 with added costumes, stages, music, graphics, etc man.

It's really cool that the N64 can even run this mod. I just imagine what would happen if they even tried to add Minecraft Steve to the mod, though. I think the console would explode. Edit: same goes for the Ice Climbers.
