Kids these days will never understand how much Super Soakers changed the game. Using the hose would have mom yelling to stop wasting water but water balloons were sort of an option if you had a decent arm. Now I'm getting excited for summer lol.
what are you talking about if the screws are on the right side of the blaster that means it the "good side" is being shown off to others not yourself, that is unless you hold it wrong
If you hold it straight out yeah, that doesn't account for more tactical looks of rotating it over. Which I think is more people would do as it doesn't strain your wrist as much.
Do you want to see more blasters like these when they're available? Yes of course! There are also fun launchers/bows like the Zing Hyperstrike and the Faux Real Bow that I'd love to see you guys cover. Really anything that allows for competitive projectile launching seems like it could be fair game.
I think that the ultimate decision on which side gets the screw-holes has to do with how the water gun is packaged and sold. Most of them back in the day had open-style boxes that held the gun to the back with zip-ties. The consumer at the store has an easier time reaching for the handle using their right hand (or at least imagining holding it) when the gun is packaged pointing toward the left, and thus the left side of the gun is the pretty side.
yeah. that's very plausible reason. displaying the "good side" within the packaging is always an important design point. If you can't get around hiding the screw location, then make the product presentable for it's market audience for maximum selling potential.
Any toy blaster is fine by me! Innovation in this industry that young people can enjoy in public is what I’m here for! Hats off to Spyra for an amazing product and thanks again Luke and the OOD team for another great video!
I believe the reason for the screws being on the right side of the blaster is because with two right-handed people playing against each other you are most likely to have shots hit the left side of the blaster and so the right side is shielded from direct exposure to water. While the Spyra is submersible it is best management practice to have the screws on what will normally be the lee side.
Yeah mobile power washers don’t have to look like a destiny/elegant weapon. I’m sure there is a more round design outside of what clearly looks like a gun out of a video game.
I have one of them as an original Backer on Kickstarter. The bolts soak you. It is like hitting someone with a shot glass of water. You notice when you are hit and it does leave you soaked.
These reviews are very cool. Keep 'em coming, the blaster space isn't just nerf or even dart blasters and most of us (myself included) got our start with super soakers. I had the 100 and 200 myself (I wasn't around for the CPS era as that was closer to college for me) and unsurprisingly go for the largest capacity/highest performing combinations I can find in the dart sphere haha.
As people are aiming towards the body the a screw holes facing out would reduce the amount of water introduced into the screw holes. Odds are they are nickel plated screws not SS so reducing water exposure would increase the odds of oxidizing the screws… maybe?
Love the video. I don't think I want to see reviews of squirt guns in general, but highlighting standout products like these is super helpful. The gameplay footage was great too! Really effective and fun.
Absolutely loved the video, I really like seeing cool products that aren't foam flinging but that you think are cool and interesting. As always thanks for what you do
screws on the right side: because when you're using the blaster they don't want you seeing holes. It's all about the user experience, not the usee experience.
Luke, I loved that you reviewed the Spyra on this channel. I think you should definitely keep reviewing things like this even if they're not foam blasters!
I would have to say... Yes, I would personally love seeing more content like this. You, Drac, Walcom, and Baret make some awesome content and I would love to see more stuff like this, and it would help broaden the spectrum in the nerf community and maybe open a new area of game types. $150 doesn't sound too bad for something of that quality.
I just seen the Spyra 2 and found this review here on my fav blaster channel. I had to know your thoughts. Now I see its certified legit and I will have to add this to my growing arsenal of blasters. Great review! Thanks.
As a leftie, I appreciate the southpaw design! Curious if putting some food coloring / dye in the water works, which could further the whole plasma/pulse vibe.
I love Super Soakers so much that I started a website back in 99’ called “Super Soaker Elite”. I’m grown up now and I had enough nostalgia about them to hold onto my absolute favorites for many years, I had the CPS 1000, 2000, and 2500 in my garage for years. Unfortunately a few years ago we got tired of storing them for posterity and donated them. I now regret that decision.
Oh man. I think I need two. About you branching out into more of this kind of content, I think it's a great idea. I'm a foam blaster guy at heart, but I if something interesting comes along in any way related to "blasting" (be it water or whatever) I'd really like to get your take on it.
First time viewer, I love your passion. I think we shared some of the same upbringing with the love for the original SS50 and beyond. Your honesty and passion really shines through, really great. I definitely think you should expand to other cool stuff, just label it properly in the title and let your audience decide. Again good stuff!
15:03 I would be interested in seeing more of these kinds of videos, if you would like to do that. I'd say its up to you, I enjoy both types of content though.
I still like the old Larami super soakers better, they just feel way better to use, mainly because of the air pressure rather then the electric mechanism
As someone who grew up in the 90s and had a summer birthday, I absolutely love super soakers. The CPS system needs to make a comeback. But something like this does look like fun, even if it comes at a premium price.
okay maybe i'm dumb but there's a lot of cool innovation in the super soaker industry and i think you'd be the first high-quality channel to cover them if you so chose.
Even if you are not playing with it (shooting water I mean), it's perfect as a showpiece in a wall or to be used as a part of a futuristic cosplay for example … It's indeed a beautiful design! BTW, I enjoyed the water battle part of the video like if it was me playing with that amazing toy ... Great video!
I didn't have a lot of super soakers but my parents were nice enough to get me a 2000 model. I still wish to this day that I had it to hang on my wall. 👍
Great fun review of these Precision Water blasters Luke! Thanks and sure review anything that chucks foam ammo well or toy that blasts any safe ammo ;-)
REALLY a beautifully deigned water blaster, I would consider getting one, but at $150.... I don't mind your channel doing other than foam flinging blasters so long as they have the Spyra's level of ingenuity and style.
Luke: I think you should review whatever subject you think is cool! You do a great job - based on your enthusiasm level I can tell if something is awesome or garbage. I just had a water fight with my neighbors and their kids and now wish I had a Spyra One on hand for that. Great job!
I would YES they are industry related, and yet another option for summer fun. I think any sort of toy "tag" item is fair game for foambies! Plus your reviews are always interesting and fun
LOVE SUPER SOAKER-like CONTENT! Please would love more since it's almost impossible to find good ones these days and living in california it gets hot on the regular around here. I remember my squirt gun collection. I had two bazookas, two crank squirt guns that had a shield attached and a combo squirt gun that was five in one. Really cook that combo one. One big gun with two squirt pistols on the side of the main nozzle. when you pulled the main guns trigger it would fire all three at the same time. Then at the back there was another medium sized gun that could be taken off too. Never seen another one like that! Fun summer vacations back in the day!
I distinctly remember the summer after the Super Soaker came out. All of my water guns were immediately obsolescent. The only thing that could compete with the super soaker were the big linear pneumatic pumps where you'd just push water straight out of the tube...and, of course, you only got one long shot with those.
You should absolutely do more Nerf-adjacent stuff! I think all the emphasis-on-toy combat hobbies are a lot closer to each other than any of them are to paintball or airsoft, or even foam sword battles, so it's always good to have some cross talk between the different subsets. I mean, it's not like we segment off Rival, and that's using a totally different ammo type, you know?
As a nerfer, I wanna see more squirt guns in the future. I was already familiar with this blaster awhile back, but if more blasters like this came out, I’d make this a secondary hobby.
I think one reason for the hole placement is that it’s assumed people play by the pool with no shirts on. So if the holes are on the side of the person they are more likely to get stuck or injure the person using the gun. So my assumption is that you want the smoothest part to be on the side of the person to avoid injuries.
Not every water blaster Luke, but the Spyra seems like an exciting new take on water blasters and worthy of Out of Darts attention. I certainly enjoyed both yours and Drac's review of them. Now if only the Spyra 2 duo kits were available in North America. Looks like we'll have to wait til July. 😝️
@@outofdarts Good point, I should clarify. I was hours late to the party and missed out on the duo kit pre-orders. I contemplated just grabbing 2 reds, but I'll be patient and hopefully can grab the duos in July. 😩
Super Soaker 100 was my SS of choice, blue with one 2 litre size horizontal yellow water canister AND a second spherical yellow container behind it. not to small not to big and it had awesome performance! =D
