at Deke's Guitar Geek Fest at Viva Las Vegas April 17, 2022 The Surfrajettes are guitarists Shermy Freeman and Nicole Damoff, bassist Sarah Butler, and drummer Samantha Maloney.
Sarah nailed her bass run and anchored the rest of the tune brilliantly. Her talent is like the grenade launcher on this machine gun. Rarely fully utilized by this band, but when they need it, she's there.
Lately on the more recent RU-vid clips I've seen, the drummer and bassist are really stretching out and being showcased more. Hard to believe, the Surfrajettes are getting even better.
Deke's great. Have been a fan since the 90's when I first saw the Dave and Deke Combo at the Clay Pigeon in Eastcote, London. I love the support he is showing for the Surfrajettes.
Deke is a good guitar player. But he sometimes makes the mistake of talking politics on his Facebook page. Music and politics should never be mixed. Just ask the Dixie Chicks.
@@runrig97 I do. But every guitar instrumental is not a Surf song. Many folks consider the Ventures to be a Surf band, but they only did one Surf album. The Fireballs, Link Wray and Duane Eddy were not Surf artists.
@@arthurfonzerelli8000 and not every guitar instrumental is a backing track. E.g. Mott The Hoople doing "You Really Got Me". And Link Wray wasn't really an instrumental band, even though his most famous song is an instrumental. The Ventures turned an Everly Bros song into a surf song. Most anything can be a surf tune if you give it enough reverb, e.g. Wm Tell Overture.
