That color speaks compellingly, I would have listened. 😸 My amplifiers insisted, then demanded, that I buy them a Bass VI. I am not man enough to play Bass, so I will just tune it down to C or D, but who am I to argue? A black Squier is on its way. 🎸
I've played for 40 years and never thought I'd be so inspired much more by anyone, and then came you ladies! Love the way you and your band plays. Love your technique, tones and gear. I am writing a surf tune now thanks to your enthusiasm for the music.
What I love most is the interaction between Shermy and Nicole, switching from chords to lead, much like Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood while Sarah and Annie lay down the groove!!!
I'm not a musician, but I never fail to be impressed at how rich & full your sound is. Even sitting there on the couch, playing solo, there's so much depth & resonance to your playing. Love it!
I had a Fender '65 Jaguar back in the '60s......sold it to buy books for College (kicking my ass for that)........dropped out of music for many years and just picked it back up about five (5) years ago with a great instructor......I 'hooked' him on to surf music and now he asks me to send him songs so we can work on next lesson ;-)) You guys are great and hope that you keep up with the 'surf music'..............no singing involved ! ! !
Considering Leo Fender's last place of employment was with G&L in which he fixed a ton of things like engineering the bridge completely different. I would say the Fender Strat is subpar in the eyes of the guy who invented it. There was enough wrong with the original design to make Leo want to address some of the quirks and kinks. That was his reasoning, not mine. So if you want the best playing guitar and one that Leo was actually proud of then its G&L not Fender. If it says "Stratocaster" on it then it is broken according to the standard of Leo Fender.
Wow, a rotary telephone! My son started learning surf guitar a long time ago at private music lessons because that's what he heard me listening to. Today he's a hoarder of guitars and equipment. He has one room at his house dedicated to guitar stuff. He must have over 30 guitars now. There's nothing like surf music.
@@mr.c8033 Or maybe they've just been too busy. Maybe they're working musicians, not "influencers" with nothing better to do than reply to RU-vid comments.
One of the first things I noticed when I discovered you guys on RU-vid, besides all of your talents and good looks, was that guitar. I don’t think I have ever seen that color. The maple neck makes it pop. Keep rocking ladies and stay healthy👍👍👍👍
OMG that guitar just jumps to life in your hands!!! Incredible sound, and I love how you said it's just so easy/ friendly to play! Oh and purple is my favorite color too 💜
It was that Strat that made me click on the thumbnail of one of your videos! ( but you guys playing made me subscribe) Burgundy Mist a classic and beautiful Fender custom color from the 60's. Ill bet your neck is a 'modern C' just like the one on mine. If yours was Olympic White they would be twins. Mine came with Fat 50's pickups that I love. Your Awesome . Rave on !
Fantastic gear Nicole! Fenders are the ultimate surf guitars. You and the Surfrajettes are are outstanding! I'd love to hear you cover Ennio Morricone's theme from For a Few Dollars More. In fact any of Morricone's classic Spaghetti Western tunes would be groovy!
Nicole that is a good looking Strat. Love all the music that the band does. Look forward to new videos from y’all. Greetings from Lubbock, Tx. Home town of Buddy Holly. Maybe someday y’all will make it down this way to play. 🤠🎸🤘
In addition to the luxurious neck... a Strat is probably the comfortable guitar on the Planet to play, with the addition of the Fore-arm Contour and the Tummy-Cut. Stokin’ Axe Nicole!
That guitar is so nice; the color is really unique and cool and it sounds excellent of course. It'd be cool to hear the story about how excactly the Surfrajettes formed or just a little more about your history as a band. "Behind the Music: The Surfrajettes"
I had a dream last night and I can see The Surfrajettes on muy dreams playing "Till the end of the day" (The Kinks), "The last time" (Rolling Stones), Down on the corner" (Creedence Clearwater Revival), Love her madly" (The Doors) and "Hoy legs" (Rod Stewart) Maybe the dreams comes true..... Thanks for your talent, Nicole and Shermy 🤗🤗
Nicole, i love the videos with you and Shermy (and the band videos as well). Thank you for sharing them they always bring a smile. Id like to hear you play some of your favorite Jimmy Page riffs as well!
Great story and pretty guitar to go along which inspires me as a guitarist and to top it off we get to hear great Surf guitar which I always love from you guys!
And if Sarah should present her Danelectro-Longhorn-bass: I don't know if she still owns an upright-bass. Maybe she could play as introduction on an upright-bass, which she played in "The Millwinders" to show where she comes musically from. She is listed with baritone-sax on the Millwinders's album "Ladies and Gentleman". If she owns a baritone-sax she certainly could play some bass-lines with it. Playing upright-bass and maybe baritone-sax would be nice to have :-).
@@cjinasia9266 In 2017 at the Regent Theatre they already played Tequila. With Sarah on bass-guitar and still with the former drummer Amber Rutschmann. It starts at mark 36:41: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KMXUZ4viI4I.html
Thanks for taking me back to the early 60's surf band era. I was on the front lines back then playing bass for several So Cal surf bands. I've caught several of your covers but haven't seen any Dick Dale stuff (Misirlou, Hava Nagilla, Let's Go Trippin, Surf Beat) or some of the stuff that became known as surf music even though that wasn't it's initial inspiration. Boss by the Rumblers comes to mind and not to overlook the early stuff by the Fireballs (Bulldog, Torquay, Footpatter) plus Caterpillar Crawl, original by the Strangers...covered by the LIvely Ones. All of these were staples with every band I played with and they all allow for personal interpretation. I'd love to hear you guys cover some of these.
Great video! Especially liked hearing about the Canyon reverb, I hadn't noticed how nasally the reverb pedal I use is, just knew there was something off about it. Thanks for sharing!
That Strat was calling out to you.....it desparately wanted to be in the hands of someone worthy of it. These things have a soul ! When its creator applied that fabulous colour although he or she didnt know you .....it was you pictured in their mind. You guys are the very best......much luv....old guy here👍😻🌞
"more then I was willing to spend, but I had to have it." Yeah, that's what all we guitarists go through. It ends with like 8 pieces and a '72 sunburst Gibson les Paul.
Parents got me a Harmony Rocket double cut away, matching 515 amp in my senior year of high school. Graduated '71 & it still works fine. Got a Boss '63 Fender reverb pedal several years back. Like to see you all live somewhere this year.
