Y'all should be opening for the B-52s. Here in 2022, I'm just discovering you gals. Lovin the instrumentals, all the way down to those crazy Flinstones dresses and matching xray spex. Malagueña (song) - Wikipedia - "Malagueña" (Spanish pronunciation: [malaˈɣeɲa], from Málaga) is a song by Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona. It was originally the sixth movement of Lecuona's Suite Andalucía (1933), to which he added lyrics in Spanish. The song has since become a popular, jazz, marching band, and drum corps standard and has been provided with lyrics in several languages. In general terms Malagueñas are flamenco dance styles from Málaga in the southeast of Spain (see Malagueñas (flamenco style)). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malague%C3%B1a_(song)
Thanks for posting more Surfrajettes from the Tiki Oasis 2019. Hope you continue to post more from their performance. This is the Trashmen's version of a very old song titled Malagueña
Like westcoastpaeb pointed out, this song was originally done by The Trashmen, a " land-locked " surf group from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The Trashmen were apparently inspired by Dick Dale's treatment of " Misirlou ". The girls played it wonderfully with plenty of reverb! the girls also do songs by another land-locked surf group; The Astronauts, from Boulder Colorado.
This was originally done by its composer, Ernesto Lecuona (Cuba). The Trashmen were but random molecules floating around waiting to be harvested in someone s sperm/womb
Cooler than cool. This is a miracle video. No performers jive to their music anymore. Nicole, I checked out Led Zeppelin IV after all these years... I don't get it! You guys are so much better than Zeppelin. You've got the Winning Formula 1 Racecar but you're stuck without the superhighway of venues that could make you guys a cool version of The B52's or even as big as U2. I'm serious!! I have a way you can incorporate your Led Zeppelin tastes into a band with vocals (Me) but I would rather see that not happen. Don't get any tattoos, or if you have any then don't get anymore. The fact that you're all Beautiful is a very important factor in your success. G.
What is it that Nicole is doing for about 20 seconds starting at the 1:04 minute mark? How does she get that sound with the pick? Is she not pressing the strings on to the frets?
Palm muting. See how her hand is on the very end of the strings, at the bridge? You still get sound, but it doesn't sustain. It sounds wicked w/a reverb tank. See also Pipeline & Diamond Head.
