IMPORTANT: everything she said is true, adding my experience I used to cut my hair very short and wear a cap as a requirement at my job one day I let it grow and I saw that I was going bald at the back , but since I wore it short I didn't even notice when It started 😂, i think my situation was mostly because stress so anyway I tried minoxidil but it made me very itchy, I don't know if it was because of the cap until I couldn't take it anymore and I stopped using it because of the itching, so after searching online I found and tried it RED ONION with a little water and the blender I put it on the part of my head for a while day by day, and the truth is my hair is returning to normal and even the little white hair that started to grow changes to black, another thing this doesn't make me itch, the only thing It's the smell but after having it for a while I wash it with shampoo and that's it, I say this for the people who can be of use and help them.

Everything she says is perfectly right in theory, not in reality. According to her logic all the homeless people would go bald because eating mostly junk food, but it's not the case, I rarely see a bald among them, many have a thick hair on their heads! Many men live a healthy life style, eat healthy food but if their granddads were bald (from mother side, speaking of the inherit male pattern baldness) they are sooner or later in life.. be bald! I'm bald man myself, don't know about "female pattern baldness" though
@whataname01

That's b/c older homeless people tend to die quicker because of the harsh conditions of living in the street.

Many homeless look aged but are quite young. Baldness isnt going to kill them. Addictions will. Also, she’s not discounting a strong genetic component to hair loss, just how to help.

Thank you! This is very helpful. For supplements - how do you feel about vitamin B?
@Healthyimmunedoc
@Healthyimmunedoc Год назад
There are 8 B vitamins, which are all essential to life and inadequacy or deficiency can both cause health issues including DNA damage. Specifically Vitamins B2, B7, B9 and B12 has been associated with hair loss. High carb diets, medications (metformin and antacids), toxins like alcohol or increase demand such as diabetes etc can all cause low levels of B vitamins. I'm a fan of supplements but not all B vitamins are equal and some b vitamin formulations can make people feel bad especially ones with too much niacin. Plus the wrong formulation, amount etc may not confer benefit.

Do excess meat consumption cause hair loss?
@lfabio.n
@lfabio.n Год назад
Do you ever heard of Mikhaila Peterson experience with meat? Based on her experience and also Paul Saladino, I think it's more personal the reaction to some types of food.
@Healthyimmunedoc
@Healthyimmunedoc Год назад
I agree, everyone has "a personal reaction" to everything they eat. There are some people literally allergic to red meat, soy, wheat, etc. (Hence a food diary is a helpful tool.) However the Standard American Diet is not eating whole foods but combined chemical additives (protein isolates, sugar, salt, carrageenan, nitrates etc), contaminated with more chemicals (arsenic, antibiotics, mercury, cadmium, nitrates etc) and sold as "food" or tainting real whole foods. Everything we eat will affect us silently and change our biomarkers like blood pressure, vasoconstriction or dilation, LDL, triglycerides, uric acid, blood sugars, cytokines, hormones, peptides etc that interact with how we fell. But these biomarkers may be cumbersome or difficult to track after each meal. However there are general rules for all life which center on increasing blood flow throughout the body and promoting healthy immunity which includes feeding your gut microbiome. The science is clear regarding diets that promote good health outcomes that is nicely summed up by Michael Pollan: "Eat whole foods, eat predominantly plants, and don't eat too much." If you apply 2/3 of these principles, it will be an improvement compared to the Standard American Diet. However, the evidence from ancient cultures is overwhelming that longevity requires all 3 principles to be applied. I have yet to meet anyone healthy over 70 who is a carnivore and cultures like the Inuits despite eating high omega 3 diets, die before 70.

95% of all soy in the US is GMO though. How can that help?
@Healthyimmunedoc
@Healthyimmunedoc Год назад
There are organic/nonGMO whole soy beans ie edamame beans, tofu and tempeh that are healthy to eat, (unless you are allergic). Soy additives, such as soy lecithin, soy protein isolates, soy bean oil, soy sauce etc. are not health foods regardless if they are organic, nonGMO etc. This is also why sugar and fructose, although for different biochemical reasons, are not healthy even though they are plant based.

What food feed your Akkeransia?
@Healthyimmunedoc
@Healthyimmunedoc Год назад
Excellent question! I'm working on a video about healthy microbes and Akkermansia is top on the list and has even been isolated from human breast milk! In animal studies, diets high in fat, & LPS (bacteria like in meats), decreased Akkermansia, while diets high in polyphenols (black tea, red & black grapes) and prebiotics improved growth. Take home is eat plants, reduce fatty processed foods and animal sources.😀

Hello, so if I follow your suggestions I will be able to regrow my hair? I don't understand, so if my hair is thinning and I start eating probably my hair still will not grow back. I am confused, so your suggestions are only for people that are not having hair issues right now 🤔 😐
@Healthyimmunedoc
@Healthyimmunedoc Год назад
There are many external and internal factors that affect hair growth from genes, nutrition, hormones, trauma, chemicals etc. It's always best to see your personal medical doctor to get a work up of common correctable medical conditions that may contribute to hair loss (anemia, thyroid etc). However I presented some basic principles that promote growth in this video but if you have a medical condition such as iron deficiency, unless you correct the iron deficiency, things will not improve much. It also depends on the health of hair stem cells which depends on age, trauma, genes, hormones etc. The underlying principle of health to any area of the body is to increase blood flow to bring the necessary nutrients and immune cells for repair and avoid things that decrease blood flow and increase bad inflammation.

Compared to what? On their own they are not health foods and highly processed. I’m not sure what the science will say about the level of iron in those products. But the excessive coconut oil is full of saturated fat. Plus much of the ingredients is pretty much chemicalized additives put into a pattie. They are Probably better than eating a donut or cake which are also chemicalized products.

Thank you so much. Is vitamin ,d 5000 iu good or not
@Healthyimmunedoc
@Healthyimmunedoc Год назад
It depends on a person's vitamin D level. For people who are extremely deficient, it is not uncommon for their doctor to give them much more than that. Vitamin D is more like a hormone so your body makes it with the right conditions in the sun. Use of Sunscreen, Darker skinned and obese individuals, older people and those who take statins make less vitamin D. Those who live above Los Angeles may struggle to make Vitamin D on their own in the winter months due to less sunlight. As you can see many people are vitamin D inadequate. A target blood level of at least 50 nmol/L but not to exceed 125nmol/L is ideal. The upper tolerable limit is reported to be 4,000 IU daily but it is well recognized that signs and symptoms of toxicity are unlikely at 5,000 IU.

Hello, Dr. Liu. New to your channel. You mention phytoestrogens such as those found in soy, tofu, and flax as being good for you. What do you think about the role of estrogen-balancing supplements like DIM and I3C? If women in our 30s and 40s take these supplements, would it be most beneficial to take them only during times of the month when estrogen levels are highest vs. throughout the entire month? Some doctors on RU-vid say it's important for your body to detox excess estrogen to lower the risk of cancer such as breast cancer, but they're not fully addressing when it makes sense to take these supplements.
@Healthyimmunedoc
@Healthyimmunedoc 6 месяцев назад
One detox from estrogens by pooping and avoiding mammalian estrogens. I am not one to mess with hormones and personally would avoid estrogen affecting supplements as there are plenty of natural foods to eat first. Breast cancer is a common US cancer.

Why did so many nutrition experts tell us to eat less soy products? or, avoid animals that eat soy products?
@Healthyimmunedoc
@Healthyimmunedoc 7 месяцев назад
Soy gets blamed for lots of things which have not proven to be true. There is a limit to how much soy or any one food people should consume. Soybean oil is not the same as the soy bean. Asians have eaten the soybean for thousands of years and still lead the world in longevity and healthspan. It is true you are what you eat and Animals are what they eat. So if you feed animals grains they will have different fats and amino acids then if you feed them grass. But if you are worried about hormones like estrogen, animals make a ton of hormones on their own even if they eat grass. When they slaughter animals under stress, they will have a surge of stress hormones like cortisol too. If they get antibiotics, their meat and secretions will have traces of antibiotics and be covered with drug resistant bacteria. So there are more problems with animals than just being grain fed. I knew a organic farmer who fed his cows kales and other leafy greens. 😊

@10 min, the 50 nmol/L vitamin D recommendation is way to low. That's a deficiency level. Probably wrong units. In US we generally use ng/ml. Many people who research Vitamin D recommend staying above 30 ng/ml (75 nmol/L), with optimum being in the 40 to 60 ng/ml range (100 to 150 nmol/L). Test and supplement as needed to get above 30 ng/ml at minimum. I live in Florida, and after multiple tests and supplement doses settled on about 4000 IU D3 to keep me in 40 to 50 ng/ml range.

Does soy cause breast cancer
@Healthyimmunedoc
@Healthyimmunedoc Год назад
Not at all! Soy is misunderstood and DOES NOT have estrogen. They have protective PHYTOESTROGENS. Soy is an ancient food staple in Asia where breast cancer rates are much lower than Western countries. In fact consuming soy as a child is associated with less breast cancer risk as an adult. Phytoestrogens do not interact with the human body like human and animal estrogens. Anyone concerned about getting more estrogen should avoid animal meat, including poultry which are literally hens full of estrogen, especially in the fat.
