I am continuing my Sussex Border Walk after a break for the Winter and a lifting of the Covid restrictions. I am in Pagham in West Sussex, heading to the lagoon to look at the wild life, the caravan park at Church Farm and the wonder Thomas a'Becket church.

Brought back some happy memories of my childhood, thank you Richard. Every Whitsun week we would stay in a small caravan on the great caravan park. The lagoon and pebbly beach were and are still lovely. I remember trying to catch fish there using a short bamboo pole and some cotton thread for a line - happy days!

Thankyou so much for this video, you was at Pagham the same day as my parents, 1 of there 1st local outings after shielding. I booked a holiday at church farm yesterday too, for later this year, I'm fairly local and wanted to stay near home this year. We are so lucky to live In a stunning county. Thankyou for making my day with this video it's absolutely stunning. My daughter was so happy to see the Swan, we love Pagham. You really have been a breath of fresh air these last few months.

Richard, Pagham holds happy memories for me as me and my late hubby were retiring there. We spent many a happy holiday at Church Farm and later one of the converted railway carriage cottages. It's a beautiful place where everyone is so friendly. Pubs are farther up the road towards Chichester, have been in a couple of them.

Lovely church. Loved the stone arches & the large round stained glass window. That old cottage at the end was amazing!!!!😍 The Lagoon was just so serene. Still envious of how many Swans you have that just swim around naturally over there. Here in Oregon I'm lucky to perhaps catch a glimpse of one in a park & then that's just because they were hand reared & raised there.

Good to see you back on the border trail Richard. Growing up in south-west London, Sussex was the obvious seaside location of choice for my family, and Pagham featured strongly in my childhood. I never got to know its inland sights however, and your visits to the lagoon and the church were a revelation. Having been away from access to a computer (moving house), I look forward to bingeing on your more recent postings.

Lovely to see this series continue. Great weather for it and a lovely place! The use of old railway carriages as homes in places like pagham or dungeness is the reason that many heritage lines have any Victorian rolling stock!

Great to see different parts of Pagham, my father and his family lived at Sefter Farm (1926-1942) towards Nyetimber and went to Thomas a Beckett church, and my aunty May was married there in 1940. Great to see inside the church. I remember a previous visit you made to Pagham when there was much angst about a new housing development which would effect the wildlife that use the lagoon.

This seaside is beautiful! And that church...something to behold. I took Tammie to film an old church for your show that was condemned as far as we knew, only to find that it is in fantastic shape and the entire neighborhood is coming back to life which was great to see. We had a great time driving through that area. It was a great weekend off work for me. I love to do things like this. Glad you were able to get outside on a nice day! Tim

Ah, right on the eastern edge of the Manhood Peninsular (Anglo-Saxon ‘common wood’ or 'common land') .One of the last relatively undeveloped stretches of coastline between Newhaven and Southampton but I think that may be about to change , surprise surprise. Great to see you out really exploring again. The lagoon is indeed lovely, but as a comparative local I tend to avoid it at any time during the hoilday period! However I have never visited the church, and I must change that. Onward to ????

What a nice, long walk you had! That lagoon looks like the pond I live on, which is connected to Lake Ontario, with the same Mallard ducks but the Mute swan instead of the Trumpeter swans we have here. I hope the community works to leave it in it's natural state, such places are becoming rare as developers keep looking for their next conquest.

Good to see you in my old haunt of Pagham Beach Richard :-) Changed a lot since the seventies! BTW I'm fairly certain that nearby Aldwick is named after Alder, the type of tree that likes wet ground. You didn't visit the Aldwick duck pond when you were doing your visit there, but I think it may have been drained in recent years, as was the ditch in Silverstone Avenue a short distance away. I remember fishing for sticklebacks there with my brother back in about 1960. All sadly piped away in land drains now sadly I fear.

Neil Innes from Bonzo Dog Doo Da band wrote a ditty for Monty Python called "How sweet to be an idiot". I'm afraid to say, I can't help thinking of the lyrics "as much imagination as a caravan site" whenever I see those places. No trees, no footpaths, hedgerows, life... The lack of people was it due to editing or did your tour take you to a magical place that exists to give a explorer an easy day to go through a dream world dotted with flowers, swans, a magnificent church, and beautiful houses from a long ago time.. I have enjoyed the resumption of our walk around Sussex. Perhaps I have used too many "s" I remember one swan at least I think it was a swan and one quaint thatched house ! The cluster of yellow flowers were delightful so unexpected . May you find good weather for the next walk!👍👍👍👍🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🙋🏼‍♀️

Getting back to Normal, bit by bit. Hooray! More freedoms lifting tomorrow. Harder to see why any restrictions still in place when you look at the data but I guess letting go of special powers comes hard for Authority. It will have to do so, Effective house arrest at huge cost is no future. Things not so good across the water and somewhat behind so Staycation (yes I know!) is the likely holiday this summer. Wondering if the lagoon is a Mosquito sanctuary? ^-) Beautiful Flowers in the Churchyard.

Very nice are but I’m not crazy about cookie cutter houses. It takes away your individuality and if you are a drinker it could be deadly going to the wrong one. Do people live in the caravan park? They are a bit to close to each other but nice. It seems several farmers turn property into caravan parks.
@cleopatra5682
@cleopatra5682 Год назад
People only holiday in the caravans. One cannot live in them full time due to silly restrictive law that’s says they can only be used for 7 or 9 months a year (I think that’s right) even though they are either privately owned or owned & rented out by holiday park company’s.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants-things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, 2who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw. 3Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near. Greeting the Seven Churches 4John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, 5and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 7Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. 8“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Vision of the Son of Man 9I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. 10I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, 11saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” and, “What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.” 12Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. 14His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; 15His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; 16He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. 17And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. 19Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this. 20The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches.

What was that term for pushing flint into the mortar joints? I've never heard of that before. Bungaroosh is one of my favourite terms for flint walling. It's a way of utilizing lots of different types of masonry (flint, limestone, sandstone, brick) in the same wall.
