One can give King William and Queen Uberta credit. In their time period marrying for love is a largely foreign, sometimes viewed as a ridiculous concept, even peasants arrange marriages as both a social transaction and a business transaction, to both create the next generation and as an opportunity to get money. Usually Peasents are more likely to have meaningful relationships, over Royalty. William and Uberta, do want their children to marry to unite their Kingdoms, to be more powerful and wealthier together, but they care for their children enough to want them to choose eachother. Instead of arranging the marriage at birth, they allow their children to visit each summer, in hope they’ll bond over time and choose to fall in love. And as we saw in the movie, it didn’t happen overnight. They were bitter rivals growing up, it wasn’t until they’re young adults they noticed eachother. Yah it was physical attraction at first, but their Swan Princess adventure caused them to get to know eachother and truly fallen in love with one another. It’s actually why Odette and Derek’s Romance was actually beautiful and done right, as they known eachother their entire lives and their feelings grew over time. Even after the first movie, their relationship kept evolving and growing. So it’s credit to their parents for being progressive ahead of their time
it's true, said it all, and in the Swan Princess movie "a fairy tale is born" where it shows Odette's Mother and Derek's Father, it is shown that both Queen Huberta and King William were married for love, they were married with whom they really loved, it is remarkable the Love that Derek's Father had for Queen Huberta and it is also remarkable how King William loved his Wife very much, the Late Queen Aubri, Mother of Odette. so much so that he suffers a lot, when his Wife dies in childbirth of his Daughter, for how much he loved her, and the same thing was when Derek's Father, King Maximilian, died. Queen Huberta suffered a lot, that's why they understand the importance of their children, they got to know each other better and consequently fall in love with each other, to finally get married. because they both Married People they really loved. that's why they understand the importance of this: to Marry for Love. More I loved your Observation, congratulations, note 100! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I just wanted to complement and add some extra details. 😉
God I've just realised something it said that "a daughter was born a princess" so who was her mother where was the Queen during all of this they never even mentioned her at all like maybe if she passed away during childbirth they could have said but where was she?...
The Nostalgia Critic tackled that topic during his review hence the implication of the assumption that Odette’s mother died in childbirth! But I agree with you that it’s strange they don’t mention her mother at all
but it's too bad rothbart's daughter odile didn't in the movie like the movie barbie of swan lake and the ballet stage version of swan lake so rothbart's daughter odile is a deleted character in the swan princess movie.
I think it's more like a 3 years difference maximum. When they come to bring her gifts she already looks 1-1,5 and I think Derek is about 3-4 years old in that scene.
The king was sad because he was old and had no child, then his wife shows him the baby and suddenly he's happy. Um, shouldn't the king had known he was going to have a baby? He had to know in the past nine months that his wife was pregnant (unless they don't live together, but that seems unlikely).
I remember on 2008 when I was 7 years old and now I'm 18 years old I never stop watching over and over again I'm from the Philippines I still love swan princess
So... where's her mama? Dead? Nonexistent? Was Odette grown in a test tube? Did her mama die in childbirth? Does the king even care? Come on, I need answers!
@@emperorvader9688 strange how so many children's movies have one or both parents of the main character deceased. I guess it kinda adds sympathy for the character's plight.
You know looking at it now the song that followed this scene where they grow up really shouldn't fit. Even lowballing it Derek would be at least 5 in this scene and Odette is supposed to be a newborn so with a 4-5 year age gap he should have been noticeably older (and taller) then her while they grew up.
Bambi. Narrator: one beautiful spring day, there was a deer called the great prince who ruled a large and mighty kingdom in the great forest and yet it was the early summer when it was nice and warm for this was quite the occasion and he was having a child to take over the whole kingdom, and then happily a son was born the new prince of the forest and was given the name bambi. many different different came from all around to meet the young prince of the forest and among them was bambi's aunt ena and her little daughter the young princess faline. it was than that aunt ena and the great prince and the great princess happened upon the same they thought bambi and faline would be brought together in the summer and hoped they would in love and become the new great prince and great princess forever, but unknown to all of them was another plan that of the mean and unkind little deer named ronno, weel, he thought bambi's birth was a little concerned to him for that he was threatening to take faline away and become the new great prince himself by his needs of his own hooves and antlers. by the time he finished his plan the great prince attacked him, and ronno and his mother were surrounded by all of the other deer in the forest, the only way to discard ronno and his family was because the great prince decided to banish him. Ronno: Errauh! i ain't finished with you great prince, one of these days we'll meet up again and when we do i'll challenge the young prince and whoever is the person is he'll love is gonna be mine. Great prince of the forest: go home ronno. Ronno's mother: come on dear. Narrator: many of these creatures feared the great prince too kind but from time to time everything ronno had done was forgotten and all hopes turned to that not too distant summer when bambi and faline would meet.
