ABOUT BROOKLYN NINE-NINE
"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" follows the exploits of hilarious Det. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and his stoically ever-professional captain, Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher), along with their diverse, lovable colleagues as they police the NYPD's 99th Precinct. In this final season of the series, Jake and the squad must try to balance their personal lives and their professional lives over the course of a very difficult year.
Rounding out the ensemble is Sgt. Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumera), who has a passion for organization and a weakness for dork dancing; Lt. Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews), a mountain of a man whose most powerful muscle is his sweetheart; Jake's best friend and human puppy dog, Det. Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio); and the incredibly secretive, tough-as-nails Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz). Also part of the Nine-Nine are veteran officers Det. Scully (Joel McKinnon Miller) and Det. Hitchcock (Dirk Blocker), whose only skill as police officers is their ability to make a passable pot of coffee.

@@karu6111 the pain is because most of the things they tried to stereotype is wrong and isn't even about swedes but scandinavia as a whole rather... Sauna sauna sauna... that finnish people. The names they had too seems SUPER far away from anything swedish from what I could hear... They speak with a german/dutch accent or something like that rather than a swedish one etc... It's FAR from swedish stereotypes and just proves to show how uneducated the americans are tbh :P that's why it's a pain... atleast do your research before trying to make stereotype jokes :P

@@swyxTV In the episode, the swedish detectives make a point about knowing each other's allergies by heart. Jake and Rosa do not know each other's allergies, so one of them (probably Jake) calls them out on it and pokes fun at them for 'being allergic to dust.' The swedish detectives take the comment seriously and point out that everyone is allergic to dust and sneezing is our allergic reaction to it. Rosa, lacking a good comeback but feeling the need to lash out at them, comes up with the extremely lame and nonsensical 'You're what sneezing is' line. It's funny because Rosa is usually the cool, tough one but in this instance, she's basically insulting them with something you'd hear on an elementary playground.

The case they're working in this episode literally translates to "meatballdiamond". as being french spending a whole (wonderful) summer visiting sweden, i never encounter someone able to speak french ! but quite everybody speaks english, perhaps with a strange accent in the north and back-country. wonderful country, coast, islands, towns and people though, i highly recommend the visit.

I know a little french, forgotten most since I havn't used it in 15 years but I know how to greet someone etc (im swedish) French is one of 3 languages most swedes until recent years were allowed to study in school, the other 2 being german and spanish

Their pronunciation of köttbullediamanten was pretty decent, though it was clear it was someone who didn’t speak Swedish natively who had practiced a lot rather than an actual native Swedish speaker. I found it a bit funny cause so many off this stereotypes were so off. Yes, swedes have usually friendly relationships with coworkers, but beside that swedes are unusually closed off from others. As someone with several relatives from other countries in Europe they always say the same thing about swedes. Also, I must say that I was convinced Sören and Agneta are sleeping together, no mere close friends act like that. And even though they did pick Swedish names (as well as Agneta’s husband Lars) their pronunciation of said names were a bit off, a bit Norwegian rather than Swedish. Generally, I still say they did a decent job, but I wouldn’t have known they were swedes based on the stereotypes.

To all the confused Swedes; 1:52 Holt is trying to say "Köttbullediamant". To all the confused English speakers; It translates to "Meat ball diamond". The correct way to pronounce it is: [=chut-boll-eh dee-ah-maahnt]. At 1:56 he says "tack" which translates to "thank you". It should be pronounced [=tuck]. You're welcome.

More like Norway and Sweden. We were even in a union up until as recently as 1905. We understand each other better when speaking and we even had a common prime time TV-show a la Letterman lead by a Norwegian called "Skavlan". And we share a long border to Norway, which Denmark an d Sweden doesn't do. Denmark is more like our cousin. Or like the southmost Skånes brother.
