You are the expert.. For us, shitty riders, the main difference in between 2s/4s is not pure weight but gravity center of bike. It has a much higher gravity center, and we can easily be over picked up by it , not mentionning far difficult to get bike upright. I hope you will show us the differences in use and how to manage throtlle/clutch blips etc on these efi bikes... I have a 390 beta, which, with a +200 rpms idling, never stalls, but poorly trying to apply your techniques, I wonder about the difference due to stronger low torque and more inertia of the engine, in blips and clutch launch... Hard to say if it is my bad ( I guess it is ;) ) or the different powertrain action to manage....
Thank you for the review Rich. Very cool to seeing you trying out different bikes and challenges. Definitely looking forward to additional insights as you put more time on the TM
i bought one at the beginning of this year i really like it so far. i had the suspension resprung and valved because in the dutch sand it dove a little to deep to my liking at 80kg besides that it is still stock and the engine is awesome. stronger and more direct that my gasgas ec350F (ktm xcw 350). in the netherlands the fan is not stock tough for 2022 it was a 2023 isn't unfortunately so i had to buy one. i'm excited to take it to france next month to see how it handles in the mountains and rocks. after watching this i feel quite hopeful about! thanks for the vid keep it up! i changed the gearing to 13-52 works way better. and in comparisson to the austrian 350's it feels way lighter to ride. lots more bottom end on the tm. it doesn't stall as easy as the gasgas so i'm super happy with it after 15 hours of riding
YO! I have a TM en144 fi 2022 and I am blown away by it. I am currently looking to get rid of my gas gas 300 to get a TM. Super stoked to see you on a TM👊 If and when I get my TM300 ill also be upgrading my tire to some IRC treads
A very good and comprehensive review of the 2023 TM 300 FI Rich! From a well rounded rider who’s riding style demands more from what an enduro dirt bike is designed for but shown to very ‘adaptable’. Impressive that the TM EN 300 FI handled well from engine and handling in the tight technical riding. I own a 2020 KTM 500 EXC-F (EU version) having owned three 2-strokes beforehand and I agree ‘one’ has to be more deliberate on the clutch in order to inhibit flame-outs. Certainly interested on watching and hearing about more of your riding on the TM EN 300 FI.
Great see a review on the 300 4t. Be cool see carb vs fi(only brand have option of both). Power chicken offroad is great work with got a bike from them last fall.
Mate I’ve got the Tm300en es carby and after a few tweaks with jetting and softening the forks I’m in love with this bike I have all the protection on it from P-tech and if I could buy another bike it would be the fi300 4T I love the look of the bike and how they feel. I do like to do the more technical style of riding but also find the bike has legs and winds right out sooo much fun 3rd gear makes me smile every time
Great review. Appreciate the detail on your suspension clickers and the commentary on why you set it up like that. Yes it doesn't translate 100% to my bike, type of riding or terrain, but it is interesting to hear the why you set it up like you did. When I was picking up my Sherco 300 4T they had the TMs sitting right there.... always wonder what if, but figured Sherco was a stretch already on parts availability and the aftermarket, the TM would push that to the extreme.
@@IRCTireUSAMoto Yes absolutely, I've never been happy with how the rear has felt - a bit too lively for me so yes I am going to compare/try this as a baseline and see if it calms it down for me
I got my 2023 TM 300 MX 2T last month and I have 30 hours on it already. 25 hours of that was all racing enduro. I love this bike so far. Valving is a bit stiff - doesn't absorb chatter high in the stroke like I prefer.
I got the MX version, too (2022). But I ride MX. It is the most precise-handling and lightest feeling bike I've EVER ridden. It makes my YZ125 feel like a pig. Engine is nasty for MX, too. A 300 2t that actually revs out!
Great review. I'm surprised that the manufacturers haven't developed a real hard enduro specific 4 stroke considering the popularity of that discipline these days. Gotta love the 2 strokes though, just when we thought they were dead the European manufacturers developed and refined them. Keep up the great work.
At 73 you could probably afford both and have the best of both worlds like me at 64, tomorrow ! I just bought a brand new 2023 Beta 300 RR to go with my 2010 Yamaha WR 450. Love em both! Now I’m thinking, boy, this 300cc four stroke looks mighty nice. And oh the exclusivity! Cheers from North Eastern Ontario Canada. Freezing rain today. Ugh!
I've got the tm 300 2stroke carby 2022 model. Absolutely love the bike. I would love to try the four stroke as well. I was waiting for you to get your hands on a tm after your video in Hawaii.
I ride 300 2stroke for personnal bike and competition, but I also ride 250 SEF Sherco at work and I'd say both are good bikes even if the 250 4stroke has a too long gear, (13x49) and makes it stall in technical situations. But seriously I'm thinking of buying a TM one day and it will be a 300 2 stroke. The only reason I didn't buy it earlier is because of rare aftermarket protection for hard enduro for this beautiful bike. Thanks Rich ! That helps a lot !
I have a Husqvarna TE310R (302cc technically). I am a mediocre offroad rider and it is currently needing me to take it apart to have the head decked. I felt way more comfortable on that than my 2021 Beta 300 RE, mostly because I ride 4 stroke street bikes and am used to engine braking. A friend who rides a CRF450X loves that Husky 310 for its stability and power delivery. A 300ish 4 stroke is a fantastic bike.
Nice to see some content on this bike, I'd love to try one. What are your thoughts on the dual exhaust on an off road bike? Seems like more weight and another part to get banged up.
I am not sure which I like less the massive silencer on the 300sef or the extra exhaust. The sef looks much more prone to damage as the TM is much shorter & tucked in. Both bikes appear very effective, after this review & feedback form Cullins I would lean in the direction of the TM.
I remember a video of Billy Bolt saying that he was feeling like he could compete hard enduro with his 350f, so I am not surprised by your feedback here.
EXCELLENT as always.....I have a brand new BETA 430 RR S....................... pretty amazing "street legal" bike...... I run tubeless OF COURSE....... and I keep the MAPPING on the lower setting....full power is actually a bit much for the tight woods I ride......
You have a slightly patronising tone (maybe that’s just my interpretation?) … But having said that: Your facts are clear. You are not verbose and I utterly love your channel. I’ve learned more listening to your videos than any other dirt bike channel. Many thanks !
Hi Rich, Great Video. Awesome Bike! What front brake guard were you able to put on that bike? I have a 21 300en 2t. I tried installing a Bullet Proof Designs brake guard for a 20 Sherco 300 and it was still off.
I have the 500 as well (2012 first EFI model). Play a bit with the idle settings from the knob underneath the saddle (the same one you operate the choke on startups). It makes it less prone to stalls if you increase the idle slightly.
Beta 350 racing, KTM 350 or this TM300, whats your opinion, best all round bike ?? I do very little hard enduro, but want a bike that i can take on a moto x track too
Gorgeous bike but I just can't get over how they refuse to fix the power valve reset issue on the 2 strokes and seem to have no interest in doing so...
It depends how much these are compared to the competition. If they cost more, no way, there isn't that much difference on lap times and parts are hard to get, etc. If they cost less than the competition, okay we'll give her a try.
Cool bike....but I would be apprehensive to buy one, simply because of, the price, and parts availability, in somewhat "off the beaten path" areas. Yeah...I know....that was once the concern of KTM's, and Beta's, also. So...time will tell.
It was looking real good to me until I saw the twin silencer exhaust. How stupid is that! When Honda did that I switched brands. Come on TM, show your engineering prowess, or not.
@@IRCTireUSAMoto I love the 4t experience and agree with what you say. Im getting real close to putting an auto clutch in my 240sef Sherco to have more fun in slow techy stuff without the flameout,ALSO gonna try a retune on Sams computer with the factory codes. Did that before on my 300sef but it didnt make much difference on the flame out side. The traction these 4t can get in the slop is amazing at times too. Just a different way to skin a cat or climb a hill lol
This is 100% not true. They are as reliable as any other brand. More reliable than many. The parts are well stocked, and many are reasonably priced. I'm not sure where you got your opinion from, but it's not from the experience of recently owning a TM.
