Jocko: Navy Seal, BJJ Black Belt, English major, Hardcore aficionado and certified bad-ass with an awesome podcast. Context: He mentioned this song as an ideal ringtone for those who want to wake up early but worry about waking their spouses up. "it starts off slow... but you better wake up-- cause it's coming!"
enjoy the ride. this is one of the greatest bands. lots of people shit on their new stuff but its all classic material. love the heavy and more mellower tunes equally as much.
Iron ships on seas of blood Black winds fill their silver sails Iron Swan rises high above In crimson twilight through the earthly veil Legions of vermin surround me Malefic taint in their eyes Madness gives sway to delusion In defense of a fortress of lies The Iron Swan floats amidst the reeds It's shadow long upon the water It gives a cry for what can never be Which draws the eyes of Odin's daughters Scion of storms, aegis of rime I call on the powers of old Unleash your vengeance to punish the crimes Of those who I name as my foes
I bought tickets for them in San Diego and the atomic bitchwax opened up for them. Opened a whole new genre to me. Add Fu Manchu and you'll be ready to break stuff
I’ve loved this song (and this band) for like 15 years and I’m happy they’re getting more recognition from Jocko. Check out “The Black River”, “To Take the Black”, and “Freya” as well. Love these guys.
Dragonaut111 True. Lament for the Aurochs has the best opening though. I wish the entire song sounded like the intro. That's why Iron Swan will always be my #1 The Sword joint.
Just yesterday, I was talking to a friend o' mine and I was playing what I've jotted down so far on the guitar... He told me "I wish you could play Iron Swan by The Sword" and I replied with "I can look it up... hold on" So i did, i brought up youtube, then brought up a tab site, and while bringing up the site, i found this band and song to be pretty friggin awsome... Im now learning how to play this, and it IS fun!!
First time hearing this band. I just love the rawness and old school recording of it. Checking out the other songs now. Muuuuch better than anything I'm hearing out there right now. It's like a combination of Kill Em All and Flotsam And Jetsam.
Such a badass song to end their set to. Everyone went freakn insane since it was the most thrashy song they played. Got the crowd definitely ready for trivium right after
D&D 3.5 brought me here and a guy who plays this shit in a band I worked with over a decade ago introduced me to this...been listening as an OMH (Original Metal Head) and wish this band was around in the 80s while I was driving to the beach to surf in So. Cal. on the radio station 105.5 KNAC.
man, i first heard of these guys when they were still a fucking myspace band. they've come a great distance since then! christ.. didn't realize i've been a fan of these guys for 5+ years. this is still one of my favourite all-time songs. that fucking riff..
