Day 1 - Rubha Hunish to Quirang
A superb coastal walk round the north of Skye before turning in to the weird and wonderful rock pinnacles of the Quirang. A glorious wildcamp overlooking the coast.
Day 2 - Quirang to Bealach Hartaval
Through the misty Quirang then along the Trotternish ridge. Lots of ascent and descent but rewarding views as the weather improved. Another stunning wildcamp, this time on a bealach with views of the sea to the East and West.
Day 3 - Bealach Haraval to Portree
Over Hartaval to the Storr and the iconic view of the Old Man of Storr. Stunning views but busy once the tourist trail was met. A fabulous coastal walk over 3 hilltops to Portree. Amazing views of the coastline and out to Rona and Raasay before turning inland to the quaint village of Portree.

Wow - what an amazing place Andrew. Some amazing views and decent weather. Great pitch too. Somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit. Thanks for taking us along on the route. Great video 😊👍🏼

Its a great trail to do. You see the best of Skye if you get the weather. Atb 😁👍

Excellent video series Andrew, it really captures the hike well. It was a pleasure meeting you both at the start and experiencing bits of this hike together - I appreciated the great company, and I’m grateful to have this record to look back on as it takes me right back! (I’ll send you a link to my photos once I’m finished the editing process… it’s slow going!) Cheers! James

Good to hear from you, James. I think you have a few cameo appearances in our story 😀. I hope your meet-up in Sligachan went according to plan and that the wetter weather was conducive to shooting some ‘moody’ landscapes. We’ll very much look forward to seeing them 😊. ATB.

Thanks James. Great to meet up with you and please send a link for your pictures. Hope you had a good last few days on trail, the weather didn't stay quite so good but it was still a great walk.

Nice one Mr and Mrs H. Unfortunately, the hills have become more and more busy, and, more unfortunately, the prevalence of people leaving their poo on show has increased enormously. 😔 A very sad situation.

Thank you. It seems many are experiencing this. It isn't difficult to bury. Perhaps some are just not aware of what to do or how to go about it. Fortunately, on the second half I did not come across any.

Great video, I look forward to the next instalment. I cannot understand how someone walking the Trotternish ridge could possibly leave their toilet paper behind. I live in the Lake District where this is also a common practice, it was particularly bad after lockdown. I once informed a woman that toilet paper should be carried out, she was disgusted.

Such a shame you are experiencing the same. If you cannot cope with burying waste or packing it out, then don't go. Stay where you need a toilet !

It seems like the whole world is walking the highland way and the Skye Trail this year Andy, and I can see why, beautiful scenery and loved your vlog about the trip. Good old Lanshan, eh? Im thinking of another tent, died of fright at the hileberg prices, not keen on the new OEX ones, but then you see the price of the Lanshan - its a no brainer!

Skye was very busy. Interestingly there were a lot of younger international people on the trail, we only saw 2 others from the UK. Its the time of year to do it, I guess that is why it is relatively busy. As for the Lanshan, as a backpacking tent it is a no-brainer for me. Quality materials at a reasonable price.

The company’s not bad🙈 No wonder Judith has nothing to say on camera. Anyway happy birthday 🎉 I really enjoyed this fantastic account of your trip so far and although I’ve been to Skye a coif times I’ve never done any walking there so J should definitely get around to this trail I think with my son in law. You certainly got some fantastic shots of the scenery. Really enjoyed the chat. I’ve just booked up to go to the Manx Grand Prix in August with my son in law instead of hiking as not been for a few years and if he’s still off work after that we shall do a hike then. Anyway Andrew and Judith That was very inspiring. ATB 🍻🏕️

Thank you for your kind comments. Bizarrely I never shut up between shots but don’t like to interrupt when Andrew’s ‘on a roll’ 😂. Having talked for a living for 34 years (I was a teacher) , it’s nice to take a back seat for a change. I hope you do manage to do some walking on Skye - it’s quite magical.

Thanks Dave. Judith has nothing to say on camera because she has used up all her words in between times ! To be honest it is nice to do these trails with her, an adventure shared. We were lucky with the weather, it's a trail worth waiting for the good weather. Cambrian Way next for me, planning to start on the 24th June, so about to re-watch your videos.

@@huntonthetrails great Andrew and I wish you a wonderful time on the Cambrian Way. I’m not sure my videos will be of any help but it’s also something I like to do it gives you a little feel for the adventure to come. I may get down to Cardiff on my motorcycle soon to see Mark my son in law as a practice for the Isle of Man. I’m sure you’ll love the route of course it’s a big adventure. ATB 🏕️
