I can’t believe this is not a Jackson 5 song. They sound amazing! He sounds very much so identical to Michael. beautiful voice. I just knew that was Jermaine talking at 1:09. They deserve more recognition for sure.
@@jimmiesmith5811 I see! They sing so beautifully! I reminisce back to the 1970’s and 80’s . I wish our world could be that way again, but I know it won’t! I can only hope that The Lord will have great mercy on us today.
@@EastCoastGal66 We had Watergate, the Vietnam war, crack, El Salvador, Abscam, guns brought into the hood, end of civil rights.... yeah the Lord was great.
@@mattdube6103 Buddy. . .I'm so sorry to break it to you, but the 70s was noooooo better. In fact it was a little worse due to rampant racism and rising crime statistics.
Unfortunately, when RCA bought their contract from Golden Tone (their original label), they also bought their name and when they made their second album on Motown under the name 21st Creation, no one assocated them with the group that made "Remember The Rain."! By the way, the record sold 20 thousand copies in 2 weeks in Chicago and its immediate area alone!
It's 1/13/22 and this is my first time hearing this song.... I was surprised to find out this wasn't the Jackson 5...but now that I found this I'll dive into their music.. it's dope
@@JuanMorales-qc6xs actually this is the them they did remake of it from 21 century who are the originals of this song and they did it just like they did
Also having a young, male, high-pitched lead singer that looks remarkably like a young Michael Jackson lol. It’s hard to argue the similarities aren’t there. I don’t think they deserve to be underrated, but I can see why people back then would have thought they were copying the Jacksons
*LYRICS* We used to play out in the rain Your mother scolded us She said that we were bad (She said that we were bad) I thought I better go on home You watched till I was gone Ooh, girl, you looked so sad I picked you up when you fell And cut your knee I told you not to cry And held you close to me As I was running Through the storm To get my umbrella on (Think about it...) I stopped in shock When I saw you with Another fellow, oh, wow Can you remember the rain Can you remember the rain You left me for somebody else Now I must face life by myself You broke so many rules in school I took the blame for you I guess I was the fool You used to sneak me notes in class I winked my eye and laughed Those days went by so fast I heard remarks That tore us all apart I'm still trying to put back The pieces to my heart And I'll be crying your name, girl Until my very last breath (Think about it...) 'Cause my existence without you Ain't nothing but a little death Gosh Can you remember the rain Can you remember the rain You left me for somebody else Now I must face life by myself Can you remember the rain (Think about it...) Can you remember the rain (Think about it...) Oh, baby, baby, baby, baby (Can you remember the rain) Baby, baby, baby, baby...
@@daftpunkfan8903 Yeah I guess so. ‘Remember the rain’ is like asking ‘Do you remember the sad times we went through together?’ or ‘Do you remember how much you meant to me?’ It’s like trying to let them know how heartbroken you are and how all those meaningful memories we went through together are now meaningless.
It’s because this song isn’t by the sylvers. It’s by *21st century.* The uploader put the wrong group name. It still ain’t on Spotify anyway but just sayin
@ryuzaki825 I know what will Smith did to summer madness was a "sample". But to. E, and a lot o people like me, THAT was a REMIX!!! He only added dopeness to it!! But I understand you were being "technical". And thas ok too! Have a nice one!✌🏿
It’s sad that so many GREAT artist like the sylvers and 21st century didn’t get the recognition they deserved because of the technological capabilities back then. Everything was mainly by word of mouth and the radio
True that, but let me throw another group at you from that era JIMMY BRISCOE AND THE LITTLE BEAVERS from cherry hill in DC. You won’t be disappointed! They were tight also , unknown, and underrated!
@@alleniversonisabeast 21st century, for some reason there’s a mix up on the internet of who played. Almost seems like the Mandela affect ? Cause everyone’s adamant it was the sylvers.
And your comment is exactly what they tell us how people can try to rewrite someone else’s legacy smh... I like searching up older music that newer songs sample and basically just came down to this page on my RU-vid rabbit hole searching lol... the Mario - Somebody Else song brought me here and I’ve been trying and googling to see is 21st Century and The Sylvester different groups or a branch of each other
@@sk98msmc Who said anything about being the first? Read and try to comprehend my comment again. I said this is the "21st Century's" song that is playing in the video, not anyone else who allegedly did this song.
@@supremeteam8199 I stand corrected!! I'm going by their "ahead of their time" RCA Victor album as well as their Soul Train appearance (probably one of the only times Don didn't get the member names. They did "Child" and "Remember The Rain") -- also in the fall of '75.
THE SLVERS REMADE IT AND THEY DID A GOOD DAM JOB YES ALL THE BROTHERS ARE FINE ITS LIKE THE SEARCH ENGINE DONT GO BACK THAT FAR TO LOCATE ONE AND DONE GROUPS
this lead singer got a beautiful voice. He sound like a mixture of Frankie lymon with a little Michael Jackson. This Melody sound like the b side to Karen carpenter song Superstar. ?) My favorite part of this song is when he "Think about it" "Think about it"😍😘
Grew up with the Sylvers, so much talent. They were grievously mistreated by numerous villains within the music industry...Our Father kept His hands over them. They had to withstand some extraordinary tragedies... I love them to this day.
I thought this was young micheal Jackson..wow foster done a great Job..I know that this song was written for the Jacksons..how cold would it would have been to have Tito or jermain doing the talk parts..🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
i was wearing pigtails, chewing bubble gum and still riding my bike with the banana seat around the neighborhood when this came out. i had no idea about love, dating or a boyfriend, but i had an idea what was to come when i heard this. love it.
It’s not by the sylvers that’s why, I’m really confused as to why so many people have credited them all across the internet and there’s no history on why but it’s by the band called 21st century if that helps but still I can’t find much on them either.
Definitely check "a new horizons" & "cry of a dreamer" / "misdemeanor" "we can make it if we try" / the hits were "boogie fever" & :hot line" but to me thier earlier more soul/funk stuff was is what made them dope and unique the jackson compariosons were there but they had this 4 part harmonys that were unmatched older brother LEON SYLVERS who did most of thier music production was a succefull.producer of late 70s and 80s hits with groups like "dynasty" & shalamar & "the whispers"
In the car one day my 15 year old daughter plugged in her playlist and this song played. She stated that this was a beautiful song. I don't know how she heard it but now it's on my playlist.
Thank you Lisa for correcting them n this is Pierre ,werejust blown away to hear so many fans still after 38 tears GODbless you all n please keep it up.
Leon Sylver, Im really glad this gen made this song viral. Its really awesome that the song he wrote and produced is getting the attention and love it deserves.
21st century was from Chicago's west side, Henry Horner projects. And being from the Chicago projects there were so many things to get into. No real record deal and drugs ,like so many other artists played the main factor.
Yes Rrodney Jersey Club brought me here as well. I believe this song should get some new spitlight with Jersey Club Remix. I hope they read these post n get the sample shared so they can get the credit and bring more of us to the original. I workout to it everyday!!!!! 💯🙏😍🎉🎉🎉
Everyone will be waving at you driving because the heavens will open when you play this joint! It’s from my time as a young girl in the 1970’s when The Sylvers were a phenomenal singing family!
This Post is misleading and incorrect. The actual group that's singing THIS song is 21st Century, not the Sylvers. The Sylvers were an amazing group and should be credited properly.
