First things first, this looks like this because Sony was CONVINCED I was uploading Charles Angels: Full Throttle no matter what I did. Hopefully this doesn't look too crappy but anyhow, In a cave system in Romania, there is unfortunately no 9'6 vampire woman chasing you around. Instead its an infection that should it get into your blood stream, it will immediately begin to alter your body in terrible ways! So in todays episode, lets discuss that!
Thank you for watching Roanoke Gaming and I hope you enjoy The SYMBIOTE (Or parasite if you're a nerd) From The Cave Explained | How Closed Evolution Works

Yo can someone please tell Sony to suck a railroad spike, and also this system of identifying is absolutely asinine as this is clearly not charlies angels lmfao: 1:06
I can LITERALLY PROVE its not charlies angels, I dont remember Lucy Liu having wings and begin a calloused monster capable of ripping men apar-wait a minute: 17:32

I found it interesting how this movie implies that these mutated monsters are the root for human beliefs in demons. That monastery had a mural depicting the mutants attacking people if i am remembering correctly. So at some point the cave parasite was able to infect people and leave the cave to hunt on the surface. Also interesting was the monastery being built over the cave entrance and the presence of dead men in armor within the cave monsters nesting area. This, as well as there being no more monsters until modern humans reentered the cave, implies that some zealous as heck holy knights not only entered the cave to confront the monsters but that they were victorious. The church was probably built to keep the parasite contained until memory of what actually happened faded. Pretty hardcore.

I always say there’s a reason for every “monster” story. A lot of the times it will just be something pretty benign but one of my personal favorites is how every culture that has a concept of a “dragon” essentially views them the same way, there are certain aesthetic differences but the “flying, fire breathing lizard” is consistent even in cultures that had no contact with each other and there is no feasible way they’d have heard about it from an outside source. This is just a movie but there’s a lot we don’t understand in this world or really fully know that we dismiss as superstition a lot of the time because that’s easier than trying to grasp the truth

The tour guide was a bit drunk and was pointing out the Stalactites and Stalagmites and how the water dripping will make one then drip down and make the other. I think it's more probable that the symbiote's desire to get to the surface was triggered by it's host (humans) since it's our preferred biome. Since, as you said, all it's other hosts probably COULD get to the surface if they really tried but didn't, the symbiote may have not had any desire until it acquired a creature that actually prefers living above ground.

Something not enough people acknowledge in these types of creatures and their skeletons is the swollen or overly bulbous joints, often looking like severe arthritis. While the irl explanation is it makes it look more disease ridden and scarier, it could also explain the increased strength by lengthening the moment-arm at the joint. Basically allowing the muscle to pull from a higher point and increasing the leverage. Doubt you'll see this Roanoke, but it's something I've been dying to point out that no ever acknowledges in these creature flicks.

Yup, humans can definitely smell water sources from a distance. I can usually smell lakes, rivers, ponds and even large puddles, and the ocean, before I see them. I can also smell rain before it happens. Those are pretty normal abilities though. Jack's ability to smell water was definitely abnormal, because they were in a partially enclosed area not directly next to the source of water, the place they were in was extremely damp, they were all wet from a previous dip in another water source, and yet he was ablse to smell and pinpoint that SPECIFC source of water.

While obviously intended to be taken as the thing is now conscious thru humans in the movie, the fact she says the thing "wanted out" doesn't necessarily mean that it was planning and conscious if looked at in a different way. Considering the thing starts morphing anatomy to the conditions of the cave, it could simply be that the woman's body is being changed, but differently, and that the conditions outside the cave are more beneficial to the symbiosis (perhaps even changing how it ended up morphing her, as the conditions involved in the cave aren't causing it to need to change as much to the bat form, possibly due to more food/warmth/light.) Her interpretations of said changes then could be, that the thing wanted the current environment, and not the old, as the changes are rewarding her (thru pleasure or thru changes in her feelings of "wants" such as maybe warmth, or drier environments, or even light.) In her current "not fully functioning right mentally" state, she could interpret the things "wanting out of the cave environment" from just what she's getting positive feedback from (avoiding cold and moist areas, low lighting, and more wanting to be around large amounts of "potential hosts" thru things like smell or sound cues.) If every time she's in different conditions that she interprets as the "cave" she's being un-rewarded with some pleasure or drive to remain there, it'd make sense that its less the parasite gaining sentience thru her, and more it just changing the hosts needs and wants to suit it and her just thinking it is taking full control (though technically i suppose it still is, just more carrot and the stick then turning into carpenters the thing). I guess that mouse seeking out cats and open areas thing would be fairly similar as a concept. The mouse's senses and thought processes are changed, but its still mostly just a mouse with an infection, not an infection in the shape of a mouse.)

What if the symbiote evolves through generations of hosts, picking up certain traits and amplifying them. If they were infecting mole rats and bats before that could explain the wings and digging claws but not expressing outright sentience. But now that it's a couple generations into humans it might take on a more psychological and covert role, that might be why the first human was morphed to such an extreme degree while the chick in the end only was showing changed eyes and not claws. It might also explain the bones in the church cause they might have been ending the generational path in humans early by game ending infected comrades. If it made all those changes to survive in the cave than who's to say we arnt making it smarter, so that with its new intelligence it might decide a more covert mutation is in order to survive and propagate. Amoungus! (Just got to the end and you had the same idea. Also the reason it never left it mightve just never had the intelligence to think of leaving the cave, instead just trying to blindly survive without a thought behind it with would have ingrained survival deep in its modus operandi.)
@assfuckerthejointpounder5834
This kind of sounds like what's going on with prototype, except instead of adapting with a host you use your virus body to consume entire organisms hold with who knows how much biomass physically compressed to a point that the very Adams have less distance between each other and or the parts of the atoms. Delicious of course assuming that it's not mostly gas, but if you've got that much gas in your body in this world and what is going on. You could argue that a lot of business going towards heat, but then you see just how heavy you are in both of the games. You consume the brawler not quite whole and then you acquire claws, you consume the Juggernaut and you get a shield, do it again and you get Hammer Fists. Consume the infected lady with a whip that is really compressible or really really good at expanding but probably compressing, and you get the whip fist which is longer than roughly more than one blue whale upon full extension. Let's not get started on the Goliath. Roanoke would have a field day with that series wouldn't he. Oh yeah then there's the biomass covering walls that Brawlers can then be birthed from. Let's not go into Elizabeth and all of the memories that you acquire from this game by civilians and not civilians. You might need an Xbox 360 play the game if you don't have the re-release but there is youtube. The grown-up covers this and you better believe the Nostalgia is hitting hard, and maybe the video game developers will finally put dismembering back in their games outside of cutscenes and One Singular limb from ghosts of tsushima and if you understand that you're using a Legendary Blade as a client member who is part of the clan displayed was handed down through the generations, and is implied to have your father Soul inside of it or just their soul guiding you. These are Mythic techniques and you only ever get a severed arm outside of removing the head of the big bad at the end.

@@assfuckerthejointpounder5834 a weird tangent but yea something like that, I was more along the lines of the symbiote incorporating previous hosts genetic information into itself and using it like new tools in the toolbox for when it reshapes the host. The eel didn't change much because there wasn't much to improve but with humans it used its current understanding of the environment and old hosts to reshape and "improve" us to better live in caves. But with it gaining increased intelligence and basic sentience from a couple of iterations of humans it might ditched the claws, teeth, and wings now that it's understanding of its environment has changed. And the next people infected will morph into different lifeforms, and so on like generations. Not as instant of a change as prototype but more like an actual organism.

fun fact about the whole O2 tank going boom under the water. instead of exploding like it did when the valve broke off, you would instead get a really dangerous projectile. someone had one of those fall in a pool once, valve busted off and off it went crashing into the wall and making a hole. they found the damn thing around 15 meters away from the wall of the pool. so in short no it would not explode with a tap like that. instead it would shear off the valve, rocketing at the nearest wall.

I remembered this movie. I always thought the alteration ability of the symbiote (Even I figured that one out) was an interesting thing. The writers where pissed and ripped this movie to shreds as they pretty much changed a few details and got the movie the decent made. The one with the cave ladies. Apparently all the monster changes and such was the director. Both worked, both had their thing. For me the real intersting thing would have been to see what a series would have been following the releases of that symbiote into the world.

I actually wonder, would it really destroy the human once it gets out? The monster form was only so that it could survive the cave system. So hypothetically would it really need to change the human that much once it is outside? I kind of want to see what happened after the end of the movie. Would it infect every human on Earth or would it just take over a select group that it could use; such as politicians or religious leaders? Would humans at large detect it or could it take over the world with no one noticing it? Would it completely take over the human and use the original consciousness only for memories or would it just sit back and relax in the human body as we go about our days providing it a safe shelter in the dominant species? Honestly speaking, if it is smart enough now to realize, leaving the human sentient might be advantageous. Perhaps just guiding the human or merging the two consciousnesses together into a new better blended sentience.

Just considering the ending in general I'm confused how it got to that point in the first place. As we see with Jack this thing doesn't just automatically take control of the host. While we don't get a clear time frame it seems like there was a solid day or two where he's been infected and yet other than his vitals going off, iris's getting weird, better hearing and some hallucinations he's still in control at the end of the movie when he takes himself out of the game. Yes he probably would have become one of them given a few more days just like those before them but that was because they were stuck in there without any chance to try and save themselves. The doctor on the other-hand got out waaaaaay before she started exhibiting signs of infection and clearly got back to civilization in the same time frame Jack was still in control. So as a doctor who understood this thing there's no way she didn't recognize she was infected at the outset of the earliest symptoms and let it get to the point it was fully in control. Why the hell wouldn't she immediately get herself seen by other doctors and be locked down so they could HOPEFULLY do something about it? What, because she might be turned into a lab rat if they can't figure it out? Because turning into a bat monster is like soooooo much better right? It just felt like the silliest twist at the end, especially since it came from the person in the group MOST likely to recognize what was happening and seek a cure.

I'd say that the symbiosis people want would be classified as something along the lines of 'Sapient Symbiosis'. Yes that's not a real thing, I know, but it's pretty much the only thing I can think of as a potential name for that type of classification, where the invading symbiote bonds but leaves conscious thought alone as the two(or more) organisms work together to survive.
