Basically Cameron set the standard for films that came after. In any case, Terminator saga ended with terminator 2 as Cameron himself said, the sequels have nothing to do with their source of inspiration. The way the T-1000 was shown in the movie, I found, was scarier than the 800. Able to mimic emotions better and just switch to cold emotionless killing, it was quite terrifying. Where as the 800 was this always cold beast of a man that you know you don't wanna mess with from the get go. I think the T-1000 was what James Cameron wanted the Terminator in the first move to be like, average and unassuming. After he got one look at Arnold, who was actually there to be Reese, he made him the Terminator instead.

I liked the fact that they had the T-1000 make subtle but unmistakable indications that it possessed emotions -momentary surprise when it encountered the metal mannequin, anger when it figured out that the T-800 tricked it about Max the dog, sadism when he tortured Sarah and tried to get her to call to John (instead of just mimicking her voice)..... ......and displaying pure, undisguised terror when it realized that it was about to fall into the vat of molten metal.
@Elly3981
@Elly3981 11 месяцев назад
I think that the T-1000 has the ability to mimic human emotion and expression so that it could blend in with humans and get around easier without arousing suspicion. But over time, it probably can develop genuine emotions of its own. My favorite part was the look on the T-1000's face when it reformed after being shattered and thawed, like it was making the death of John Conner and the destruction of the T-800 its personal priority.
@007Thanos007
@007Thanos007 11 месяцев назад
@@Elly3981 I would agree with you, but remember that he made most of those emotive expressions when he was on his own. Heck, now that I think about it, you could even say that he was probably *annoyed* by the husband of John Connor's stepmom and that's why he killed him instead of simply leaving him be.
@Elly3981
@Elly3981 11 месяцев назад
@@007Thanos007 Could be. He started with no real human emotions but developed some over time. It got to the point that his mission went beyond the orders given to him by Skynet. Skynet could not control them, the T-1000 was suppose to be like a new "skin" for the T-800s, but ended up self-aware.. The T-1000 we see in Terminator 2 is most likely fighting for Skynet and goes after Connor because he is choosing to, not because he is programmed to.. He doesn't actually have to kill John Connor if he doesn't want to. In the Sarah Connor Chronicles we are introduced to the T-1001 (Catherine Weaver) who has her own agenda.. She's not with the resistant but was building something to fight Skynet at the same time, but isn't John Connors enemy either..

Seeing the results, T-8xx series was clearly the most effective, more than every single other model. It defeated T-1000, T-X, and even the phase matter monstrosity. In T1 he even killed one of the main characters, an extremely dedicated, prepared and skilled soldier who destroyed dozens of various hunter-killer machines. It took almost dumb luck for Sarah to crush it with a press. There is a reason why T-X got endoskeleton back, after it was removed for T-1000. Endoskeletons rule.

So many good things about this film, but just watching this brings back so many of them. I loved the way the T1000 presses through the bars, and then gets the gun stuck as if he's forgotten he's holding it. It's a great touch. Also, the strange look he gives the silver manikin . But, there's one there too which is much more subtle. Robert Patrick put in his firearm's training and worked to eliminate the 'flinch' reaction most people have when firing a gun, because a Terminator wouldn't do that. You can see it there at 4:48 perfectly. It's nuances like this that show a care for the details. So many films lack this.
@daringspino3446
@daringspino3446 4 года назад
The scary thing about T-1000 is that unlike all the other terminators (even that damn T-3000), is that it can perfectly blend in the environments, which makes it absolutely perfect for stealth operations. Hell if it wants it can just sneak into the human's resistence base and kill John Connor without anyone noticing.
@Elly3981

When the T-1000 starts to uncontrollably mimic it's surrounding in the foundry it is a defense mechanism. In the expanded canon it is stated the when the T-1000 is damaged so thoroughly that it needs an extended amount of time to recover it will camouflage. This is to go unnoticed while it's nano-particles fix itself. Because the main directive of the T-1000 is the termination of John Connor it ignores it's need to heal because it is so close to finishing its mission.
@christopherjamesboudoir
@christopherjamesboudoir 3 года назад
@Meta Man In this situation yes. Because John Connor is so close it ignores it's directive to hide and repair itself. Say the T-1000 didn't know where Connor was it probably would've taken the time to heal and then proceeded with its mission.

The mall arcade scene and scenes outside totally remind me of the LA atmosphere (obviously it was filmed there so). But even the scenery that takes place in Mexico looks like somewhere you'd find near a small rancho in the country. I remember watching this at a drive-in theater, it was a double feature showing with Congo.
