This artist should have been recognized prior to the 2019 Infinity QX Commercial bc I had to google this song to find the name and the artist. I thought it was featured at the end of a Walking Dead episode...but it doesn't show that. But it's is a pretty spectacular song anyway!
Have you ever seen the quiet Indecision of a man When he's standing by the fire With an eager friend in his hand Will he ever quite understand That it will follow the rain ....... This
What I heard: "Välkomna tillbaka, nu kära tittare har det blivit dags för The Tallest Man on Earth att framföra sin låt It will follow the rain. Take it away". Translation: "Welcome back. Now dear viewers, it´s time for The Tallest Man on Earth to perform his song It will follow the rain. Take it away"
Have you ever seen the far side Of a mountain swallow the sky As you travel through the valley And as your speedin' still far behind Through the valley where lovers climb Have you ever seen the locust Lean his wings right after a plague Like ascendin' of a dark cloud In the sunlight to end the day To kill the sunlight, to end the day Yes it will follow the rain Have you ever seen the quiet Indecision of a man When he's standing by the fire With an eager friend in his hand Will he ever quite understand That it will follow the rain I said oh my friend It will follow the rain Have you ever seen your baby Getting caught by the lonesome wind And the whistling round the corners Telling you they have let her in Separation can now begin Yes, it will follow now the rain. I said oh my friend. It will follow the rain I said oh my friend It will follow the rain Have you ever seen the far side Of a mountain swallow the sky, As you travel through the valley As you're speeding still far behind Through the valley where lovers climb Where the children will blink and sigh They have caught a lightning strike In the jar just to watch it die In the valley where lovers climb Yes it will follow the rain I said oh my friend It will follow the rain
@@gruuve5 - The studio version is far better, but that's pretty typical. Also, the lyrics on this version, I think, say to "kill the day." An interesting twist on it.
The Infiniti commercial introduced me to this song too. This song is deep and evokes deep thought "Have you ever seen your baby Getting caught by the lonesome wind And the whistling round the corners Telling you they have let her in Separation can now begin Yes, it will follow now the rain."
I'm happy to see he's getting recognized 😄 for his well crafted art finally after all this time. The tunings. And the picking patterns are still kicking me about..
Great time to be alive . An artist comes along , tickles or ears and our souls are transported to a valley where lovers climb ! Lets meet up after the rain
As someone who is mainly into harder stuff like Punk I'm surprised I'm so fascinated by this song, maybe its cause it reminds me of my childhood. As someone who grew up in Tennessee around country, folk, bluegrass, etc this is definitely nostalgic for me, thanks The Tallest Man on Earth for making such a awesome song. But then again maybe it's just something I was bound to enjoy cause I definitely have a wide taste in music EDIT: I just now came back to this wonderful video after having an odd craving for some mysterious song, glad to have found it all over again and for the magic to still be the same. I was very young when I made this comment. I was getting ready for church one morning and heard the song on some luxury car commercial, searched until I found it. I’ve grown into manhood but the young man inside of me still comes out and shares some of that sweet nectar whenever I come back to this. The girl is long gone, the money is tight, but I still have the beauty of music to help keep the spirit alive.
I really thought he had to be from the south after hearing this song on the commercial. I’m born & raised in N GA 🍑 so I completely get what you’re saying.
This musician has inspired me to write an instrumental titled Appalachia in the last year. This song has such an earthy, bluegrass folk type feel to it. Really cool. Thanks for producing this song ! Peace, Paul Edwards
Hey Appalachian home girl. I totally agree ! The style of music is so Appalachian I could of swore this musician was from that area. I think he's from Sweden if I'm not mistaken. I have Scottish ancestry so a lot of the Appalachian music resonates with me. Many Scottish immigrants came into the Appalachian area in the 1700s and formed this kind of music as a mix of blues and Scottish influence resulting in Appalachian music. It's just amazing music for sure ! Take care.

@@metimoteo lotta of us would say I'm wack for listening to this.. so much kill em rob em an garbage being listened to nothing but stating a fact good music can touch all races ... Sir good day to you✌🏼
I just want to say, I've been a Tallest Man on Earth fan almost his entire career. I just saw him live last month in Pittsburgh and I absolutely couldn't possibly be any happier for him that he's finally getting the recognition he deserves. He's an absolutely incredible song writer that should be winning all the awards.
@@GIRLonMW2 unfortunately he did not. I believe he followed ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D6-4lPBUpdQ.html the same setlist as this video. I was a little upside that this song, Walk the Line, and Into The Stream were left off. But he was so amazing live I ultimately didn't care. I loved it. I've always described his song writing as 'painting a work of art.' He's so descriptive with his words and his voice is used as an extra instrument. One of my favorite verses of his goes as follows: "Oh I was sent to find the lonesome place Where I was lost but left a trace By carving riddles on the lonesome vine Oh but rumor has it that I wasn't born I just walked in one frosty morn Into the vision of some vacant mind" That's from the song Burden of Tomorrow and it's absolutely beautiful.
"Have you ever seen your baby caught by the lonesome wind, and the whistling around the corners telling you they have let her in.. separation can now begin" Damn.. that deep
Just a man and his guitar can still make magic. This guy is seriously legit and I literally got emotional listening to his beautiful music. I like many didn't know this artist or this song until I saw the Infiniti commerical.
When I first heard this song on the commercial - I thought it Townes Van Zandt. Glad that I took the time find the true artist. Great song. Hopefully there is more where this came from.
The first time I heard this song, I thought it was a bluegrass singer from somewhere in the Appalachians USA, but I am impressed that its a Scandinavian. Kudos!
I love how I always see this comment. Yeah, he's actually a little guy. Tallest Man on Earth is a reference to a lyric in his song The Gardener. Check it out and listen. ;)
Ok...Ok...We I think we know , by now , that it was probably "The Infinity Commercial " that "brought you here"...You and just about everyone else. That comment has more than worn out it's welcome , don't chu think ? Does it need to be repeated by almost every newcomer...Read some of the other comments , first...Then , say something original ! Now...wouldn't that make a lotta sense ??
After the commercial, and searching for this song ..... have become a fan. Love the lyrics, makes you think about sitting in a chair, on an old wooden porch, in a very small desert town, seeing one car pass now and then on the old dirt road, miles from the highway. No cares.
There is an official video for this song, Full video not cut off. Just google “It will follow the rain”. Love the song but the video is weird as hell which makes me love it even more!
I don't even think the songwriter knows what its really about, but I have an idea - an opinion - if you will: Have you ever seem... Basically pointing out the wonders of the world - like how a man has/will never see everything. Have you ever seen the locus clean his wings right after a plagues? - reminds me of moses and the plagues. They have caught a lightening strike - in a jar to watch it die. hm. good music.
Alright, perhaps you didn't read my comment correctly. I clearly said that it was MY opinion, and I said I don't THINK the song writer knows what it is about. Sorry about my lack of emphasis.
I’m sure there’s a bluegrass band somewhere that needs this guy. The man can pick. Reminds me of Earl Scruggs, but on the guitar instead of a five-string banjo.
VERY VERY Much influenced by Bob Dylan and Cash, but it's nice to finally see a modern folk artist of that type, who's musical motifs haven't been raped a pop chart... For those reasons alone, I appreciate his music, and will buy both his albums, and will continue to buy them till he sells out anyway It's true finger picking is repetitive, but hasnt the singer and guitar type thing always had a certain amount of repitition.... This guy's great, love all his songs
@zendeeQ241 ofc that is his choise how "Serious" he want's to be. I'm just saying what that made me feel. I'm sure alot of ppl don't mind or don't even notice it. But It bothered me. but as I said, the music and the lyrics are awessome.
@caturian haha I see your point :) but let me rephrase. He seems to make silly faces on purpose :) as much as i love the songs i can't take him seriously. and John Mayer is a much better singer for that matter.
thats his style, cant say the voice is annoying, its rustic, its country, its quiet in its approach, its simplistic, its draumatic. To see it close your yes, forget the voice and just see what it brings.
@soulfullist that makes no sense. also who cares if he's drunk, i don't think he is, he still played the shit out of that song and if he can do that drunk what does it matter
wonderful song! and a very charactrestic voice. I only wish he woulnd't "fuck around" when he sings.. making them silly faces and such. it ruins the preformace a bit in my opinion.
John Mayer makes silly faces when he sings and people fall at his feet. If making faces is what he needs to do in order so sing, then he can make faces all day long. lol
this song really is and inspiration but it takes great talent to do both things at the same time and many years of practice and to have his talent would certianly take time
