Glad I watched whole video…halfway through I was thinking “just move the LB back a couple steps” lol. Versus average players this defense is super effective. Called it 9k times this year
It to me is the bet coverage literally have to vert hooks , 3 deep zones two outside theirs then a zone in the middle of the field and you can cloud flat or hard flat for flats
The only thing is this coverage doesn’t work on bunch off set that’s the only thing might have to man some stuff up on the fly but I know for sure Tampa 3 match doesn’t work on double post
I took what I’ve learned from watching you and created my own scheme, similar, out of nickel 33 cub with the safety at nickel package. I user the ROLB or MLB based on the play. Cover 2 is my most called play. I usually roll the coverage and man up the MLB against 3x1 sets, but against any bunch or 2x2 I can run an a gap blitz out of cover 2 only rushing 4 (similar to the dollar a gap blitz). This way, all the cover 2 match principles are still in affect.
Use Tampa 2, win most my games. User LOLB, deep blue MLB blitz/flats ROLB, corners flat/mid, safeties middle/out to cover corners. 4 Lineman attacking QB. Extremely difficult to beat
I've been running some of this for a bit now. Subing in a CB into the nickle over G while swapping SS to get my over top in the right position. I've had to go away From dollar in the new running meta. This and I'll mix in A Gap blitz off adjustments. And user the holes in the summer. Then pressure off edge with CB blitz. It's been starting to cook. But basically this Tampa 3 works very well. Especially in long distance with flat zones dropped back.
Call me crazy but why not just put the slot corner in the the middle third and user the mid read because the slot corner still sprints back in the middle third and it gives you a 4 man pass rush and still have a very hook on the feild.
