Candid is one of my all time favorite books. I had that "Hanged-Man" moment of enlightenment after reading it - changed my whole world. We must cultivate our garden (living a purposeful life) if we are to reach our (9 of Cups) self-actualization and perhaps even financial success (9 of Pentacles). So far I am loving your perception and depth on each suite.
Ok so I made the grave mistake of watching this without my tarot deck out and I realized it during the Seven of pentacles or so... By then, it was too late. 😭 Thank you so much for this beautiful and in-depth lecture. I struggle to be grounded and practical but as I have mentioned in my other comment I’m drawn to and fascinated by this suit. I suppose the reason the Tarot sees me as Q of Pentacles (I always show up as her in readings), is because she is not who I am but who I aspire to be: nurturing, stable, abundant, grounded, productive, resourceful, secure, etc. So humbled by that generosity from my deck and that guidance. Also so grateful that I found this channel. 💝
The four of pentacles--when we are afraid our capacities are in danger. The five of pentacles..just see it as COURAGE..STARTING OVER.leaving the security of the fours..thank you so much..
The suit that most astonished me, attracts me and baffles me is this one. My signifier is the Queen of Pentacles even though I’m a fire sign and a water rising sign but idk why it is that I love this suit and yet I don’t understand it. Looking forward to studying with you.
Thank you so much for these videos, I am learning a lot from them and enjoying all of your metaphors and literary references! I was just wondering about the difference between the 10 of cups and the 10 of pentacles, and was so happy that you explained it! I am also struggling with the 6 of pentacles because it appears a lot in my readings for relationships or as an outcome, and its general meaning never quite answered the question for me. I'll probably continue to clarify it with other cards, but your idea of the "measured response" really elevated my understanding of this card. Thank you for your generosity 😄❤🙏
With the 3 of pentacles in The Wild Unknown, I actually got the idea f the collaboration just because the three connected pentacles are the primary colors, so between them they can make all of the other colors, but the range becomes severely limited if any one of those primary colors is missing.
To me, the hooded falcon signifies sacrifices the woman has made to accomplish what she has. The falcon is powerful and can fly free, just as the woman has many options and comforts, but it always flies back to the glove, as the woman is tied to her responsibilities. There is a bit of regret implied for both, I think.
Understanding the Thoth Tarot by DuQuette goes into the uniqueness of the pentacles in a way that I think you would appreciate..being an Earth gal myself I love his take on the suit. The lady in the 9 of pents has a shadow on the Albano Waite.
+Coco C I have the Albano Waite... I never use it, but I do like the backs. I think I need to pick up a copy of the Thoth deck. I had of years ago and gave it away. Ooopsie.
Tom Benjamin I just started using the Albano and I am loving it. I have noticed a lot of details in this deck that I never noticed in the plaid backs. I do love both RWS and the Thoth.
I think u should definitely try a deck with plain pips. I recently bought a cheap (like $14) beginner deck with plain pips from books a million so that I could try combining the tarot meanings with playing card meanings. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet... combining the two different systems isn't an easy thing to do...playing card meanings are NOT the same as the tarot minor arcana meanings...and you really have to slow down. I think it could yield some interesting results tho. It makes me wonder about how far removed we've become from what had to be a much more fact based reading style waaaaaay back in the day. Right? Like with Lenormand you get just the facts, no emotion. Same but to a lesser degree with playing cards...playing cards DO express emotion, they just leave out all the psychology. As always thank you for the time you spend making these videos...I appreciate them very much. Have a great weekend!!
+Jay Edward Thank you, sir! I'm thinking about digging up a used copy of the Oswald Wirth. I'm drawn to that for some reason. We'll see. I just did my first-ish Lenormand for someone else as a coda to a tarot rewarding. It quickly confirmed something else in the reading, so I thought that was, um, "interesting." (For real.)
I know I’ve commented a million times in this video already but I’m back to studying this suit and this time with my RW Smith deck I feint of me but I just wanted to say that it’s also hard for me to have such a Caucasian deck and I have to remember that Smith would technically be a woman of color today.
