These are the best zodiac sign videos there is on youtube, i love how the three of you work together, such great combined energy. Having a natal retrograde mercury, i find it hard for things to sink in straight away, i feel like my minds a sieve at times, i have to go over and over things repeatedly, but these videos have helped me more than any zodiac sign books i've read.
I hear you, we all learn in different ways and for me, watching videos is way easier than reading books (depending on the subject) but also, astrology is so rich in concepts that you have to go over and over the same basic principles to capture as much as possible. I have 20 years of experience and here I am, listening to the most basic concepts just because there is always a new perspective to consider... Check my videos if you have time, barely starting to play with videos for now...
@@adavell Same. But I'm about 10+ years in. This year is so profoundly fucked-up that it pushed me to geek out on Astrology for a week. The 2020 prediction video is amazingly helpful for seeing how things work in a general way. Fun!
As a Gemini, i feel that rather than flipping opinions, i feel that I always need to be learning. The curious nature is a constant urgency. I may learn quickly but may also forget information quickly as well!
As a Gemini rising I totally relate to what you say. It is even a bit creepy in a way...I HAVE TO always learn something, no matter what. When I feel like I am done with something I need to learn something else, otherwise I feel extremely useless
Following the podcast for almost 1 year! I started out with close to 0 understanding of astrology and it's language. The seeds - directions - insights - and knowledge I've gained from this podcast and collab goes out to you three! Cheers and much appreciation!! - Marhgo
hey ,if anyone else wants to uncover horoscopes zodiac signs compatibility try Magic Matcher Outline (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my buddy got great results with it
Taurus is incredibly artistic with animal quality, sensual, straight to the heart. I’m so tired of the references to plodding, stubborn, as if they’re slow witted.
Mutable signs also represent the end of a season and preparation for the next. Gemini (end of spring prepares summer) Virgo (end of summer prepares fall) Sag (end of fall prepares winter) Pisces (end of winter prepares spring) changeable, adaptable, flexible.
@@adyingdream4585 it's because they are flexible enough to sorta through what is and isn't needed, and are stable In how to use what they KNOW to "prepare for what's next."
Hi John, I thought one of the important points in the video is that we were meant to get away from associating seasons from the point of one hemisphere alone? At the equator and southern hemisphere the seasons are wet and dry and reversed, respectively.
I love this! Thank you. I'm a Virgo, and do experience "paralysis by analysis". A great, helpful mantra for me, that I learned from Bob Proctor, is "Start before you're ready."
I’ve watched this and the house series so many times now as a jump off essential to my very new study of astrology. Thank you all so much for this gift.
I very much appreciate Chris’s use and overall balancing energy of the word “sure”, Austin’s passive aggressive jokes on bs modern takes and poetic wording and Kelly’s adorable laugh and overall light and ability to make closing statements. Really great energy coming from all three and collabs beautifully!! So grateful for y’all and this channel
Geminis see duality (as opposed to Libras who see balance). We see the male and female aspects of things, which is why we can come across as duplicitous. This male-female duality is the source of the androgynous quality of Gemini (in addition to the androgynous quality of Mercury). Prince, for example, was a Gemini with Scorpio rising, and he said on Oprah once that he had two people inside of him- one male and one female. To me that is the essence of Gemini- this awareness of both sides of the coin at all times.
The thoughts on Cancer are really interesting, and I like how one of them mentions that crabs will move in a zig zag or indirect route to get where it's going and I thought about water and how it doesn't always move in a straight line but it always takes the path of last resistance. It shows us that these aren't always the same thing, many times a straight line is the path of *most* resistance, and much of eastern philosophy centers on this idea. If a straight line is through a brick wall, Aries will go straight through it, but Cancer wil flow around it, and encompass it, and have conserved all of its energy in the process.
Funny thing is Cancer will go the straight line or right through a brick wall route. Yet they won't do this for themselves. They will instead do it for someone else or to save or rescue a loved one in particular. All other times it's most likely the sideways route.
@@AfroPick82 wow, this is so true it almost seems backwards but it’s how I am but I’m learning it’s ok to be that way but it’s important to pour the same amount of effort into self
@@fybdrilltime3166 I had to let them know being a Cancerian myself. And they say we need to be more Aries energy like during certain times & situations for our own damn good or overall livelihood.
I was hooked at the introduction of Aries, "the cardinal fire sign" and I've binge-watching since. Didn't expect to go this video in one sitting. You guys are so clear, I enjoyed sitting through... now for part 2.
Virgo sun here and I never understood why I'm so "good" in procrastination. This podcast help me understand it so much. And it's soooo true!!! I never related to a video this much lol
The three of you work so beautifully together! Ive been interested in astrology for years but now it’s all starting to come together for me. Looking forward to more. Much appreciation.
I'm in shock! I don't see Taurus as selfish and snobish at all...this is so cliche. The closest people of my life have several Taurus placements. They are extremely giving and nurturing (Taurus is the exaltation of the Moon!) and very down to earth. Refinement and good taste shouldn't be confused with a snobbish attitude. But some people just don't appreciate these qualities, depending on their own charts and preferences. Bad qualities would be: strong tendency towards inertia and stagnation...and also, despite being consistent on what they like doing, they don't have discipline on doing things that might be important for them, but that they don't enjoy doing. They only do what they want.
Well... Taurus can be very rigid sometimes about what they want and they do tend to have expensive taste and this can definitely come off as a bit unwavering or snobbish to some... but hey we like what we like and won't settle for anything less because we have clearly defined values. I'm A Taurus sun and definitely see this...
So I know 2 taurean Moms who hit their kids like literally bang them against the wall.. they are someone else to the public and indoors not so nice or nurturing. They love luxury and the good things and can manipulate it out of their husbands.
@@blissfulalways what you are talking about has nothing to do with astrology...but with people who are narcisist, unstable and are completely disconnected from who they are, from their essence....you will find people like that of any astrological sign.
@@YelenaCrawfordAstrology I'm not a taurus but u can't base somebody off there sign if u feel that way in your opinion u have some growing to do somewhere in your character as u prolly easy to manipulate n maybe go along with what is popular or watch alot of t.v 🙄I could say more but I'll save it for another day ..but what u r lacking I wouldn't base it on your sign in general ...to be continued 🙄
For being a Scorpio Chris, you have the most sensitive and kind voice. I am Scorpio but with Mercury in Sagittarius and i just sort of shoot it out there :)
I love Chris. They are all good, but he's my favourite. He's gentle, respectful, smart, not boastful, open-minded and likes pretty things (I love the t-shirt).
Yes, Virgo are very aware of their positive and negative aspects and they work very hard to become a better version of themselves. Cheers to all Virgo people 🥂💃🏾
Stages of Life: ARIES (the infant) TAURUS (the baby) GEMINI (the child) CANCER (the adolescent) LEO (the teenager) VIRGO (the adult) LIBRA (marriage/union with another) SCORPIO (sex/regeneration) SAG (understanding/wisdom) CAPRICORN (reputation/public life) AQUARIUS (knowledge/uniqueness) PISCES (faith/relationship with God)
From what I understand re: Virgo, the glyph MP stands for "materia prima" which means raw material, not necessarily about chastity but definitely about unaltered or purity
I had my first cancerian figure experience via my uncle who was a sun in cancer, he was very wounded in early life but possessed extremely caring qualities he would buy me multiples of one gift or treat. He lost his mother at an early age and was raised by his sister...and he kept looking for motherly figures so he ended up marrying someone much much older than him who was an alcoholic and absent mother to her own children. Ironically they had two kids one was a cancer boy. My uncle asked us to bury him In his mothers /my grandmothers grave if he died. He married his 2nd wife and at some point they had an argument where she mocked him for saying he'd kill himself. That night he ended up shooting himself in the heart...and we had my grandmothers grave opened up and buried him there. After that we all felt a sort of peace like he finally was where he needed to be, with his mother. He was only 33. I also noticed many sun in cancers kill themselves, Robin William and Anthony Bourdain are some examples. It always comes as a shock because they are so nurturing.
I really like it when Austin contributes. He seems to have such interesting takes on things and has a way of phrasing things to make them interesting. Great production
I’m 4yrs late, but pulling this up because I’m just getting into astrocartography. Man, I’m Virgo Sun, Taurus Moon, and Aries Rising… the more I learn, I really identify with Taurus. My North Node is Taurus too.
The segment about Leo was so accurate - to add to what you said, Madonna a person with Sun and Venus in Leo wrote the song "Spotlight" where she sings "everybody is a star, everyone is special in their own way..." which are almost the exact words you used for Leo! And many of her songs have this theme of how we are all special and how to shine... Also, Austin, thanks so much for putting in question the constant use of gender words to describe planets and signs in astrology - so refreshing and I think we should all start using the words Ying and Yang rather than feminine and masculine to take the emphasis off physical gender... language is so important to thinking!
It's so awesome how open the three of you are about your placements, and then to watch them active in the conversation...The explanations are amazing, but getting to watch them play against each other in the conversation gives them life...Love it!
I have another fun metaphor for aries fire- i just thought of it as I heard you guys; the welding flame. How hot is that. Fusing and igniting new metal structure. :)
Taurus is also mid-spring, femenine, Venus ruled, sensual due to earth and its beauty. The blossoms in spring. Taurus people are usually sensual and attractive.
Could you please do an equivalent show on the house meanings? There's so much variation in the meanings ascribed by different people. I listened to your 2014 podcast on the topic but you didn't run through all the specific meanings you find useful in that, or ones that you've come across empirically. It was mainly about the fact that there isn't a consistently good system or conceptual foundation for any of them, which left me wondering. Thanks for the great work.
I think he knows hes funny. He wants to be funny with people who are funny too but on his level. When he can feel free to be funny and laugh. Haha i honestly think he's extremely smart and undercover funny haha
One thing that I've noticed in people with heavy Aries influence is a "me, me, me" quality. Sometimes they don't seem to see beyond their own reality. This may be a link to their modern association with the first house. And this is in opposition to a typical Libra, who may be too much into other people's opinions.
I love listening to podcasts of astrology to gain a deeper understanding of the signs, and to spread the more in depth information towards the signs to my friends. I also am using this to analyze my own placements in my chart to really understand what they mean. I’m thinking of becoming an astrologist, but I’m not 100% sure.
As a virgo (sun) I can say totally spot on and thank you for mentioning it: gift - curse, procrastination as not a lack of willingness and Saturn type elements in virgo 🙏 😊
Awesome description of Aries. I’m a libra rising with Saturn on my ascendant and I’ve always been drawn or attracted to fire signs but in the end their vitality and charm fizzles out pretty quickly because of their brash, selfish, inconsistent ways. This was too funny to hear.
@@EbonyEnnis-ck9sd air signs have no boundaries but no substance. Earth signs have the boundaries but sometimes no innovation. I am both Air (Libra asc), Earth (Capricorn sun) and fire (Leo moon), so it’s all about balancing what you have with what you need from others.
I appreciate so much that Austin is a cancer rising (as am I) because he will often talk about a planet in a particular house and that helps me understand it for me so much more. Love, love, love these videos! I feel like I’m home watching them. I don’t know if that makes sense but I do. ✨

One thing that you may find interesting, is that the seasons, don't exactly begin and end where most would think them to. It is my personal belief, that we shouldn't just look to any one particular culture or area, to find how the ancients thought of things. Sure, if we want to go to the roots of Astrology itself, we would most likely have to go to Mesopotamia, for that is where the birth of Astrology happened from what we can see. But I do believe that many would find it absolutely fascinating to look into other cultures because often times they are more right than we are today. For example, in Celtic Traditions, one of the two Dippers, was the constellation of the Great Bear, where the North Star is located. And moreover, the North Star, is associated with the sign of Aquarius. Ancient cultures, often more times than not, began and ended, with the earth itself as their bases for everything. And it would be understandable, seeing as, this is where we are from. I'll use a culture that nearly everyone has access to their history to at least to a degree, the Celts and Pre-Celtica, as our example; because what they believed in where each of the seasons began and ended, was nearly universal, around the world. Even the Native Americans believe it to be this way to this day, and also, modern science would confirm this. Spring: It begins on the closest New Moon to February 1st, which is the first of the four Cross Quarters, and is called Imbolc in Celtic Traditions. Summer: It begins on the closest Full Moon to May 1st, which is the second of the four Cross Quarters, and is called Beltane in Celtic Traditions. Autumn: It begins on the closest Full Moon to August 1st, which is the third of the four Cross Quarters, and is called Lammas in Celtic Tradtions. Winter: It begins on the closest New Moon to November 1st, which is the fourth and final Cross Quarter, and is called Samhain in Celtic Traditions. They did observe the Equinoxes and Solstices of each year as well, but they were seen as the middle or "height" of a season, rather the beginning of a season. The finest example of this, to show what I speak of, is the season of Summer. The middle of Summer happens, when the Sun is at its highest point in the sky (i.e. highest, height, middle), and marks when the Sun begins its journey back to the Southern Hemisphere for those in the Northern Hemisphere; hence, the middle of Summer, announcing the coming of Autumn and Winter. Some people of the modern era use the Sun, rather than the Moon, to mark each of the four Cross Quarters of each year. But Classically, the Sun was used to mark the Equinoxes and the Solstices, and the Moon was used to mark each of the Cross Quarters as shown above. And also, if one understands how the seasons themselves are closely intertwined and connected with the cycle and story of life, one should have no problem interchanging the signs from what they would be in Northern Hemisphere to the Southern Hemisphere. The season of Spring is all about new birth and vigorous growth (i.e. birth and childhood), the season of Summer is all about abundance and bounty (i.e. adulthood), the season of Autumn is all about wisdom and preparedness (i.e. right up the Will to get ready for the "Harvest", ect.), and the season of Winter is all about hibernation and reflection (i.e. "death", etc.). An Aries in the Northern Hemisphere would be connected to the season of Spring, which means they have more of a childhood attitude towards life; whereas, an Aries in the Southern Hemisphere, would be connected to the season of Autumn, and would take on a little bit more of a wiser aspect of their characteristics. Still an Aries, nonetheless, just one is more childlike in their characteristics, and the other is wiser. However, an Aries born on the Equator itself, or really close or near to the Equator, will have more of a "Solaris" attitude in life. This is just one example, of course, but should do well enough. And oh, the classical four elements you were talking about, I'll give them here. Classical Model Air: Was seen as Dry. Fire: Was seen as Hot. Water: Was seen as Wet. Earth: Was seen as Cold. Aristotle's Classical Model Air: Was seen as Warm and Wet. Fire: Was seen as Hot and Dry. Water: Was seen as Cool and Wet. Earth: Was seen as Cold and Dry. Aristotle changed the refernce for each of the four elements because he recognized humidity in the air. Air is not necessarily dry, just walk out in the morning, and you will often find fog. But when something is Hot, it's also Dry. Obviously to anyone, unless they have been living under a rock, but even then, they should recognize that Water is Wet. And the Earth is usually Cold to the touch, even in the desert, where there is shade. As far as changing Air to "Warm" rather than stating it as "Hot", that would be for the reason, of stating is as "Mild" but a little warmer than just "Mild", and the same would be true for Water but in the opposite thinking. Air is the Allied Element of Fire, so naturally, it should be a little warmer. And Water is the Allied Element of Earth, and once more, should be naturally a little cooler. In the case of either model, you create a geometric square diamond, and place Air on the left corner, Fire on the top corner, Water on the right corner, and Earth on the bottom corner. After having created the geometric square with the elements in their correct possitions, you'll find in the Classical Model, Dry opposes Wet, and Hot oppeses Cold. In Aristotle's Model, the same is true for Hot and Cold opposing each other while both now have the quality of Dry, but now Warm and Cool oppose each other as well in the statement of "Mild" but a little in one diection or the other while each have the quality of Wet. In Aristotle's model, two are Dry, and two are Wet; while one is Mildly Warm, one is Hot, one is Mildly Cool, and one is Cold.
This podcast is my introduction to astrology! You guys are great teachers! I just have one question that has been bugging me since I started trying to read natal charts: what does it mean when the ascendant and the sun are in opposite houses?
I am a Leo sun, Taurus moon, Capricorn rising, and my Venus is Virgo. However, I don’t think I better than anyone. I think me coming from a difficult childhood and having so many challenges in life really humble me.
Wonderful episode! You've covered a lot of material. However, I can see that you didn't cover an important spiritual dimension of the zodiac which goes back to its earliest origins. Just like the planets, the signs were not initially defined as abstract concepts but as "the gods standing on the path of the moon, (the gods) through whose sectors the moon passes every month and whom he touches" (source: the Mul Apin tablet). Later on, the zodiac shifted to the path of the Sun (the ecliptic), but it was still seen as passing through different deities. Those deities are described in the Myths of ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, and some of them made their way into Greek mythology. I would argue that, if you don't mention the Gods and Goddesses that each zodiacal sign is referring to, then you're missing a key dimension of the archetype. I would go even further and suggest that considering the Polarities, Modalities, Elements and Rulerships while omitting the Myths is actually a form of reductionism, as each Sign is simply correlated to a combination of those concepts. As an example, describing Gemini without ever mentioning the story of the two brothers Castor and Pollux is like presenting Barack Obama without mentioning that he was the President of the US during 2 terms! ;-) To put it another way, the Signs are much more complex than the Planetary Rulers/Elements/Modalities/Polarities just like a Story is much more than a Casting of actors standing on a stage. And, even if you are not using a star-based or sidereal zodiac, the spring of meaning for those signs is in the myths associated with those constellations. In CG Jung's terms, those 12 symbols are *alive* in the collective unsconscious.

As a Leo my experience has actually been of very rarely being seen. In fact I spend most of my time seeing others and trying to be as supportive as possible. I actually hate the spotlight and attention, for example if I went to a club I would dance on my own not because I want attention or the spotlight but because I love to dance and celebrate music but O no it’s seen as being an attention seeker. Why more people don’t just bring their own dance and celebrate too I don’t understand and if they do I will celebrate with them. We love to share high vibes. I find that other Leo’s I know have similar experiences. Really don’t need fed by anyone or anything else and if a Leo ever does leave your side it will most likely be because they have EXHAUSTED themselves trying everything. They’re also often seen as being hard headed or my way or the highway but I would argue that they will go their own way and you’re welcome to join them because they must be true to their heart and if you choose a different path they will be ok with that too because they understand the importance of being true to yourself.
2:47:13 and around there.... When Chris said he wanted to get rid of the Theosophical influence on Astrology, I suddenly gained more insight into why he gravitated to Helenism. But the question of the meaning of the whole Circle can be answered in more than that one way. I see the Helenistic influence as the driving force of behind what I would call the reductionistic mechanisaion of the Circle. So, it's no longer a series of books with chapters but now its a giant metal gear with 360 teeth that engages with 12 smaller gears with 30 teeth, etc. Is this the result of trying to get away from Blavatski? 😆 I see a better option. But I don't know how to integrate it all yet. If we go back to the earliest forms of Astrology we see different people groups telling their Tribal Stories to their young so as to reinforce their Tribal Identity and practices. These are necessarily bound by time and space which makes finding a unifying narrative for The Circle impossible. Unless we find out which of the various People groups has our most ancient ancestral narrative to find their Star Lore, then find out how their narrative was changed as time went on, into the Tropical form. Then find or create a new narrative that defines the values and traits that you aspire to now, and divide that into 12 parts. I'm still tryin' to find my way thru this practice and feel somewhat unsupported by all the popular Traditions. Evolutionary Astrology is my current "good enuf" for now, but it has limits as well. In the end, I want to end up with an Astrology that I can use by looking at the sky - all by itself - just like the Ancients did. They kept records, but they didn't have carefully measured degrees, minutes and seconds and computers and mechanical devices to help them measure. Just Stars. It may take my whole lifetime to get free from the traps laid, not just by The Stars, but by the Astrologers themselves. Set the Star free! 🌌
