I review, breakdown and explain The Tattooist Of Auschwitz TV Series on Peacock and Sky. I discuss the 2024 story which was focussed on Lale and Gita between 1942 and 1945. I react to the ending and provide a comparison to the book which was released by Heather Morris in 2018.

I read this and the 2 books that followed in the series also by Heather Morris. The second book is "Cilka" which told the story of a woman Lale and Gita had known in Auschwitz and what happened to her after leaving Auschwitz. She had been forced to be a prostitute for the Nazis but the Soviets punished her for this by sending her to Siberia and what happened to her there. The third book was called "3 Sisters" and told about 3 sisters from Czechoslovakia who were sent to Auschwitz and how they cared for each other there to ensure that each survived. I hope they make films of these 2 stories as well as "The Tattooist of Auschwitz." I hope I can see this movie soon.

@@vieira26 I agree. How awful that after being forced to be a prostitute for the Nazis the Soviet Union punished her by sending her to Siberia where she and the other women were raped by the male prisoners. Why should the men get a benefit and the women more punishment! I was incensed to read that. These books are true stories too.

Jonah Hauer-King played the young Lale.who is Jewish, done a fantastic job. I’m so sick of hearing this negativity based on one opinion. The melbourne holocaust museum invited heather to discuss her book when it was released alone with holocaust survivors, they clearly didn’t have an issue with the book. I wouldn’t call this a romance, this lale story he meet Gita in the camps so obviously she is going to be the main focus of his story. What right does anyone have to question lale story, it’s his own personal story, maybe he didn’t remember factual information 100% correct.. if someone reads or listen to one persons perspective on the holocaust and actually believes they have full knowledge and understanding of what happened that’s on them of being stupid. Anyway there is something seriously wrong if this is the first information they have learned about the holocaust.

This is not a documentary! This was not what life was like in concentration camps. This is some romanticized version of the camps and it is disgusting. In reality, it was a constant fight for survival and it was much more brutal than shown in this series. Both the book and the series are harmful and the Auschwitz Museum has repeatedly referred to the inaccuracies and distortions shown there.

My only few complaints are as follows. Why don't use the name of Kanada of the warehouse where Gita works . And it's odd she doesn't get food from there? There was always food hidden in the suitcases. Also, I feel they cut Cilka's role soo much. Nadya also if I recall older. And whoever read the book knows Lali knew ten languages, and I doubt anyone was speaking English. I wish there was a more authentic feel with subtitles. I actually thought there would be a multilanguage option.

the author chose to come up with a fiction based on truw events... Heathet Morris was not really intending to write a historical account.. that wull require accurate accounts and evidence... Heather reasearched based on Lale stories... from his memories... she cannot basically make ahistorically accurate novel when here lrimary source is an old man wanting to tell his exoerience to reminisce his love for Gita...

the book is a very good read and i was concerned that the series would do it justice. it did. to say about the young Lali having an english accent , well for me it did not distract from the performance what so ever. you stated on several occasions that they escaped from the camp, but they did not. they were both being marched to other camps when they made the run for it. not a big error, but if you are reviewing then its important thing to get facts correct. as for Lali's guard? he only did some nice things for them so that Lali would do things for him like the bottle of Schnapps. all in all the book and the series are very good.

Both the book and the series are harmful and downright disgusting. The author talked to a man who was in the camp, but she waited several years to publish the book and did it only after his death, so he had no opportunity to comment on its content. The Auschwitz Museum has repeatedly referred to both the book and the series, denying harmful and untrue news. The author claims that she has done thorough research, but children who pay attention during history lessons will find a lot of mistakes there. The author of the book was also sued by the heirs of one of the characters in her books for falsely presenting her story. This series is a nasty money grab. The conditions in the camps were not as luxurious as they are presented in this series, and yes, it sounds strange, but the main character has his own barracks, an SS man is taking care of him, he has a lot of free time and can go wherever he likes and do whatever he wants. I like it. He has access to the female part of the camp. An SS man walks around the camp at night, and he is also drunk. And that's just a fraction of the bullshit shown in this one.

And if you want facts read encyclopedias and primary sources... not movies ... this is evev promoted as dicymentary si we should nit expect... but the takeaway from this should be the value... human storytelling and how it revelas human resilience and ssearch for truth when we watch a fictional depiction of what happens in Auzswich

If you want people to take you seriously, learn to spell, use correct punctuation, and how to form a coherent sentence. Your words look like gibberish. Nobody reads encyclopedias anymore, because those online are known to be inaccurate and the few print ones are out of date by 30-40 years. Also, my daughter works at a Jewish museum and is a history and Jewish studies major. Maybe let those with credentials speak.

@@ErinFindsHerWayLet me explain what is being claimed here… The tattooist of Auswich is NOT true it’s a novel based on an old man’s memory as told to a novelist. The original post is correct if you read true accounts of what happened there from history you will find that Auswich was an extermination camp. Google if this is a true story and you will find that Heather Morris was nearly prosecuted by survivors and by the Auswich memorial foundation for claiming it was true when it clearly is not.. it’s fiction based on his memory and each episode has a disclaimer before it’s showing..

This TV show is an abomination. It does not show the horrifying reality of those camps. Not to mention the characters and overall story. Please read some history books about the camp and second World War before or after watching this to get some basic facts. I personally find it curious that the guy following the main character has such polish sounding name and there are so little indications on the nationality of the people running the camp. I really wanted to like the book but it was riddled with inaccuracies. I'm talking about basic knowledge of the most infamous death camp. It was so upsetting that an author who apparently had conducted years of research, couldn't even put together basic facts. I have to agree wholeheartedly with the museum. The writing was also elementary and just so difficult to read. My one hope is that the series fixed those errors and had better writers.
