Nah there's a few from Canada as good Rush , The Hip , Triumph , The Guess Who ,lover boy and more recently Nickelback and TDG have all enjoyed better international notoriety than TTP
Seen these guys 7 times in the 90's. They always came through our city of Kitchener - and they always blew the doors off the venue! Superb musicianship & performances! Seeing them tonight - it's been a long, LONG time! Cheers.
To say Sister Awake is my favorite song by The Tea Party is a collosal understatement, man. Over the decades I've hade this song on loop for hours at a time more times than I could possibly count! Namaste 🙏 💞
Greatly agree..... I think this topples comparisons to doors and led zep and exposes that they are just truly one of the creative greats in music period not just canada
Saw them many times in western New York and Canada, in my teens, mind blowing, life changing! So glad people are finding it now! It used to be a treat to find their cds…
You guys made some of the best music to come out of the 90's. You guys were absolutely my favourite band of the time. When I hear your music, I can close my eyes and remember the times of that period with friends and family (like my grandparents) who have long since past. God, I hate getting old. haha
I saw Jeff Martin in Duncan B.C. There was like 30 people there. This was the best thing I have ever seen in my life. Very surreal. This man channels some music god when he plays.
This is one of the most erotic yet empowering songs written by The Tea Party. I wish they'd go back to their roots. Do not abandon the Goddess of Love.
I heard bits of this song on 102.1 The Edge in Toronto---it was killing me that I didn't know who they were and the spark had been lit. Found out they were local, loved them ever since. senior from Ontario
He just touched the deepest part of my soul with his lyrics and raspy voice. I just have been found by my brother with whom we have been separated for 41 years , because of the lies of my father. We just can not stop crying. This song is just written for us.
this is one of their best songs ever, and could be easily used as their "business card" (not sure if it sounds ok in english), in case you need to introduce the band to one of your friends.
This band has the most intriguing and mind blowing sounds in my opinion. Gorgeous I didn’t even hear all of the instruments and sounds when I was young when it came out. I wasn’t a huge fan but I am now. Like holy gosh wow! Howhuh (it’s an exclamation used in northern communities in Canada where I’m from.) sounds like Hōwha
@DonTheMoron716 they didn't steal from other bands. This is an original sound and so what if they incorporated unique sounds, that's called making music
I sure wish they would come where I am in California. Their art (muc) , leaves me awestruck EVERY TIME I LISTEN TO ANY ONE OF THEIR SONGS!!! True artists, and Jeff Martin's voice, it makes me squirm. ;)
When the winter was over She returned there to find him And her memories filled her with light She remembered the beauty She remembered desires And her memories filled her with light I am the sun in the flame Cold from the flame turns away And in these winds came a change She awakes Sister walk through these fields of delight But I want you to know Desperation's the tenderest trap So gently you go What will it take Sister awake When this beautiful cult of desire Has left you for dead Isolation will cradle the lies Of things left unsaid What will it take sister awake And you'll look to the heavens above And taste it's deceit These temptations have blinded desires To sleep at their feet What will it take Sister awake And you'll hear them call out your name Invoking the fates Chances are you've traveled too far In stirring their hate What will it take Sister awake Awake
Knowing a band like this that could have taken off like Led Zeppelin is like knowing a hidden paradise like enclave in a jungle. I have always wondered why because their music is fenomenal....
I was 11, when I first heard this song, my mums cousin was listening to this on Winamp, I was mesmerised, I remember looking for their album for days and days and finally ordering it out from Canada. Those days.
I saw these guys way back when in the mid 90’s at this bar called Oakland Park in Columbus ,Ohio and it was a metal bar known for mostly hardcore and DeathMetal bands and it was in the Hood and nothing racial but you would get some Crips stopping in for a drink and maybe to do lil business; if u know what I mean! Any who it was an eclectic crowd because Immolation was the headliner and my band and I always went there cause Obituary, Cancer, Malevolent Creation, Strife, Earth Crisis had all played their and we were pretty stoned off a primo joint we bout off one of the aforementioned Crips ( primo joints back in my day kiddies were weed rolled with cocaine in it,, fucking great high) and anywho The Tea Party opened and blew us away! I and my good friends are not those Metal Only DoucheBag types; these guys rocked this 500 seat bar and it was summer so the doors were open and a crowd was outside listening! Been fan ever since!!
My friends and I saw Jeff Martin doing a solo gig in my hometown. Wanna talk about a guy who sounds very close to the album versions of Tea Party? Look no further! He was awesome!
Truly amazing song and band! Love these guys! I believe they would sometimes break into the guitar riff from Soundgarden's Rusty Cage during live performances of this song.
I love this song and this band, and I remember this one excited time that this band was coming to London Uk, and as I was about to buy the tickets I unfortunately noticed it was for London, Ontario. A sense of loss?
The band hosted the Australian TV programme Rage in the mid 90's and debuted this video clip before the show played their other videos. Jeff Burrows sarcastically said the video would "lauch us to super-stardom"; they were most proud of this clip saying it represented them perfectly at that time (still does) and they got to use the same old-style camera NIN used for their "Closer" video.
Wow. This isn't the song I'm looking for, but I also like this one! (I ended up finding it after this one. It's "Fire in the Head". That didn't take long, at all!)
I saw them for that tour in Oshawa. Only concert I made an effort to meet the band and get an autograph - cuz I was only 15 - and I did. Nice dudes. They were great.
I love them. I saw them in Detroit about 25 years ago. Then the gods and planets aligned for me to see their San Fran show at Slims May 2019. Still as good if not better than ever.
I remember seeing them at the ACC. He was so hot. I wish the lead singer would quit trying to be Jim Morrison so badly though. It hasn't worked for the past 20+ years, it won't in the future. You've already outlived him!
@@OntarioAtOrion not at all lol hé said it himself in a live show hère on YT. Im not a lunatic. Hé His proud of His craft ! Ask him yourself if you care that Much. Nothing New under the Blue sky 🤍
