Temu got me! I finally gave in. I found this little device on their website and decided to give it a try. Check out the video to see a deep dive into it, and how it actually isn't a bad device for the price!

Just in case you are wondering, the guitar used in this video, which is not seen, is a 2020 Gibson SG with Custombuckers in it. The guitar is ran through this pedal, then straight into my DAW with no effects, compression or any other plugins. It is the pure signal from the Temu Multi Effect Processor.

Actually, M-Vave apparently make many pedals, some with less features, some with more...but the highest cost appears to be something like USD$75 or so. Like it or not, let's see a domestic mfr come close to those prices, for the multitude of options the pedals provide! What is not fair is to say that the pedal is not as good as XXX, when XXX costs 6 times as much: Yes, it is said that "You get what you pay for..." but, in this case, it appears that you get much more! In any event, thanks for your thorough review, as I do understand that foreign instruction manuals are not always clear...probably the result of using auto-translate to convert some foreign language to English. What these foreign companies would benefit from would be to have a multi-lingual human review those "machine" translations for clarity.

M-wave was formerly known as Cuvave, they rebranded around two years ago. There are some Cuvave Cube Baby reviews on youtube from three years ago. M-wave is more of OEM factory, so if you want your own brand of pedals, they are happy to deliver.

Thx for your detailed review & explanation of features. Plenty of reviewers do not acknowledge the programability features of units like this and the Lekato PA-1 preamp in favor of their hundreds of dollars of pedals...not acknowledging that they can duplicate the sound of multiple pedals with one cheap unit. They don't like the presets, and don't know that they can be changed & saved, etc.

Super cool! It's perfect. I bought a decent bass plug amp for the same price. It awkward to play with for damaging the plug is easy but fun. This pedal's far more versatile, strong and practical being there's a cord coming from the guitar. Thank you and thank Temu!

Had to order one from Amazon! Great review, I HATE those manuals that require an engineering degree to decipher. You've made the functions perfectly clear! This is exactly what I was looking for to travel with. I have a Laney portable amp and I think that this is a great addition. I especially like the Bluetooth connection for adding backing tracks. Looking forward to getting it.

@@CompanyGrip you missed the fact that the same port you use for charging can connect to your computer as recording interface (interface only) and if you connect the other one it will be same but it'll record the sounds on the pedal.

A fabulously comprehensive road test of a complex device with a less-than-perfect instruction. (This is in contrast to a similar video I watched earlier today in which the presenter vacuously went over one distortion device after another.) I even saw another in which the guy got one of these, too-along with nine others. Nor was he a guitarist, so HIS deal was less than perfect. I am blown away by the amount of detail on the amp sims-I have NEVER seen that much information on particular sounds, so this is impressive. Are the ones you mentioned all, or are there more. Thanks for sharing your time and expertise. I am still highly suspicious of Temu (as I am of ANY Chinese enterprise). But I certainly understand the temptation with which you were faced. Be well!

Also works as usb audio interface. And all IRs in it can be replaced by your own with CubeSuite software.

I got this. For basic sounds plugged into a PA it works well. Don't expect the greatest gain distorted sounds.

I've had one for years. I love it. So much so that I had to buy another one so I don't have to plug it in and out all the time. Most of the sounds are pretty believable.

No one has to buy any pedal without hearing it being used first. Its one of the few things i like about the internet, (and youtube especially). If you cant find a video review of a pedal you're considering, then DONT buy it, or at least admit to yourself that you're taking a chance of being disappointed. I'm pretty sure a person can find reviews of virtually any pedal sold on the market.

The bass version is great for practicing. I got two for $25 each! Headphone cable and 1/4'' cable and that's it!!! I just wish it had an AUX input instead of using bluetooth.

I think you got one of t6he good one's! I cannot imagine QC being anywhere near good on electronics from TEMU, but....that being said, it is true that you can return, or exchange until you get one that works properly. I think it's brilliant! Hell man, for $35?! You can't get better, imo. Just don't forget that you're rolling the die on QC.

There are three different versions of this pedal. This one, one for Bass Guitar and one for Acoustic Guitar. I bought all three of them. I've used the one for Bass at church several times and been very pleased with it, but I've only been able to spend a little bit of time with the other two in a practice setting. I probably won't be regularly using any of these as my main setup, but considering the size they are very easy to just leave in my gig bag to have on hand for a backup. And I'm comfortable occasionally using it for performances. They do sound really good considering the price.

There is also an earlier version of the one in the video. The easy way to tell them apart is the - < and >- graphics. What they represent is a pretty big improvement.

I have the acoustic and electric guitar models and they work perfectly, you just have to set it up for your preference. It has a tone of IRs available online, you just have to be a tech to program it or at least understand the program that interfaces with the pedal. The factory settings are not necessarily set to your instrument or amplifier. Mine are tweaked out and I use them every week.

Wish, Ali Express and TEMU, all worth a look and doesn't the west hate them. I just purchased 5 different Klon Clones and OCD, it is hard to tell the difference and I am using them through a VOX AC 30 and Fender The Twin, Stratocaster and Gibson 57 Gold top, those Guitars love these pedals and I love the Price. I also found your channel and subscribed because I was seeking opinions on this stuff. Also I am waiting for Drum stuff, practice pads and a couple of Snare Drums.

Great video, thx! What I really could not figure out yet on my device is what exactly the live mode is supposed to be. I programmed my 3 presets with the software. But when I entered live mode from one of my presets, everything was turned off. When I enganged the modules that I wanted (and had in my preset), it did not seem to have remembered ie the Amp I chose for the preset and the overall volume was way higher. I then tried to dial in the same parameters on the knobs that I chose for the preset in the software and saved it to the preset again. I could not see any difference in the software (seems not to recognize knob movement), but still got some serious volume difference between preset and live mode. I cannot explain this, but are happy to use this "feature" as a kind of "clean boost" for soloing and therefor can use it like a 4th preset...

There's multiple versions of these and not just the bass and acoustic versions. I bought one of these back when they just switched over to labeling it as Cuvave. It has a completely different set of amps though they're similar. There's an unofficial firmware update that adds this set of amps. There's an upgraded version of this called the Tank G that was just released last month that looks like it's worth checking out.

The cheap Temu efx stomps and a Flamma multi-efx (similar in purpose with a Boss or Line 6 floor efx) have been stunningly good so far. I could use "shocked" as one impression these gear bits gave me; really impressive quality/cost ratio. This "M Vave" dev had better watch themselves, because their competition is formidable. Sorry you happened upon a lemon.

I have this one! so far only using the cab sim for playing directly into a speaker. The OD/Dists are rather simplistic without flexible eq control, better use joyo/nux amp sims for that 😂

I prefer to use this with headphones. The output is stereo and it sounds gorgeous. Mine cost less than $35. It does not replace any of my Blackstar amps but it is fantastic for practicing.

Yes, exactly. You got me - I couldn’t find one bit of difference between each mode. Hahah. I’m guessing that because this housing is commonly used on a few Chinese multi-pedals, maybe they just made it a redundant feature on this model, and on other models that have a different purpose the third butting does something different?

I bought one a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, the headphone out volume knob went from zero to MAX VOLUME with nothing in between, thankfully my headphones weren't ruined (I had just plugged them in, didn't put them on my head beforehand thankfully). In Temu's defense, the return process was painless and they issued my refund pretty quickly. For another $70, you can grab a Spark GO that's just better in every single way.

Hi There, great video. I subscribed to your channel and will follow other videos! I do own this device but haven't been using it cause I didn't feel I understood how. I have two truly basic questions, I apologize that they are so basic, but I'll MUCH (MUCH!) appreciate it if you can take the time to explain them: (1) If I use the output and connect it to an amp then am I supposed to connect to the front of the amp or to a 'power amp in' and bypass the front of the amp? I mean, if I connect to front of amp then the signal from this device will then be shaped by the amp's own character and override this device. No? So, I suppose I'm supposed to bypass the amp's pre-amp. Is that correct?

Thank you for the questions. To be honest, there is no right or wrong way to use it if it works for you. You might get better results one way or the other, but ultimately, I think you should do what works for you. That might mean using this device to shape the sound and then using your amp to further shape the sound. Or, maybe keeping the amp clean and using just the pedal to modify your sound. In regards to your other question - same thing! You can use the IR when you are recording if you like the sound or maybe you want to turn it off if you like that better. You definitely won’t hurt any of the pedal or the computers equipment. Thanks for subscribing! Cheers!

Thanks for the comment. I don’t know if I feel confident enough to do that. I literally watched a video yesterday where someone “corrected” Eric Clapton and what he says to do in an old video on how to do the “Woman Tone”… 🤦‍♂️

To continue on my previous comment, I have a second question about the IR function: Is it supposed to be 'on' only if I plug this to a computer and a DAW? or do I need to use it when connecting via an amp? My amps obviously each have their own speakers so I'm not sure what it would mean to use the IR in front of an amp, cause again the amp's own speaker will "override" (that is come after in the signal chain) the IR. I suppose it only makes sense to use it when connecting to a computer? I'll much (truly, MUCH!) appreciate you reply to my two questions. I realize how basic they must be and I apologize for not getting something so basic that everyone seems to get :)

Use the IR only if you are not running through an amp with a cabinet. This means if you play the CubeBaby directly to a DAW or front of house PA-system. If you are not going to use the IRs, this device might not be the best choice for you, because the IR-loader feature is the absolutely best part of this, imho. With other preamps you get more versatility because they usually feature a 3-band EQ (sepreate knobs for treble, mids and bass). This is where the CubeBaby is lacking the most, imho...

@@shalomshalom735 An IR or Impulse Response is in short the recording of a miked cabinet. They are so different, because you get a lot of different sounds by changing the type or number of speakers in a cabinet, the model of the mike used, even the position of the mike in regard to the center of the speaker and so on. IRs are therefore the easiest and least expensive way to change your guitar sound. There are a lot of great IRs to be found on the net for free. Another benefit: no screwing or soldering needed ;-)

Is it correct to say that I should use it if I'm going through Power IN and bypassing its preamp, but should not use it if going to front of the amp and use the preamp ?

Unfortunately the US Dream pedal is the worst distortion. I actually just bought one today because it's analogue and for the extra inputs for separate pedals into the line. Great idea.

How about the "band controller" eq pedal they sell? Also curious about the rackmount equalizer as well. It's two channel. I would presume it would work about as well as the behringer 15 band one. I would wager most of the temu audio gear would work at least reasonably well. Especially for people on a budget or for beginners. The reality is it's build quality is probably not great and it's lifespan is probably pretty dang short. Also....I'd call the "cure sound" chorus no?

I really want to try the 37 dollar 2 channel EQ haha. No idea what it is but I saw something called the "US DREAM" pedal too. I'd buy it sight unseen just for the shits and or giggles.

I noticed at the end you had a SPARK mini. Why would you buy this Temu pedal when the SPARK app has all that built in? I have the SPARK 40, SPARK Cab and SPARK app Do you have any SPARK how to videos please?

Thanks for watching. I have a spark video somewhere in the video selection. I think the point of having the pedal with the amp would be so you could use your foot to switch on/off effects, where as you can’t really do that while playing with the spark app.

Thanks for the video. It was very well done! Great review! I’ve been playing since I was 15. A few years later I went with a friend to a radio station in Pasadena, Texas. He knew the DJ and wanted to talk with him. While we were hanging out in the back room a bunch of guys came through the rear door carrying their instruments. I easily recognized them. They were 3 Dog Night. They were very friendly. We all sat around and talked and smoked pot. We were passing around joints on roach clips when they started playing some of their songs. I got a guitar and played along with them. What a cool experience. They were scheduled to play in a concert the next day in Houston, just a few miles away from the radio station. When they got on the air they promoted their upcoming concert. Things sure were simpler back then. The band were all very nice guys. I wish cellphones existed back then. I would love to be able to watch and listen to all of us talking and playing together again. They were such an amazing band. I’ve always loved their music.

You need to know what it’s for, you can make a lot of pedal types on it but they aren’t the greatest (truthfully a Vox stomp lab is much better) but it’s helpful for practice and deciding what actual pedals you like (garage band has a better fake pedal variety as well).

I have this pedal - for me I found it difficult to get a sound which did not have some sort of tinny aspect to it. It is worth noting that there is a PC programming app available which makes setting this up way easier. It is also (allegedly) able to use downloaded IR files - I don't really understand this stuff BUT the IR selection makes a big difference to the sound you get. Overall I would probably not use it live but it's better than most headphone practice amps in terms of flexibility. I also have a Mooer ge100 which I think is capable of sounding better than this and has more program slots and a looper. The convenience of rechargeable batteries was looking like a game changer, however, this is a bit too low rent sound wise.

I understand what you are saying. I agree - a looper would be nice and make this a great practice pedal. It’s compact size is nice, but there are definitely drawbacks to some of its sounds for sure. Thanks for checking out the video!

I also bought this pedal. I never expected it to sound great on all amps. I was just looking to get one good drive sound and one good clean. With my own IRs that was pretty easily achieved. For me the #9 (Mr. Smith = PRS Archon) with a Ownhammer Marshall 4x12 with G45 IR gives me everything I need from OD to High Gain with the use of my volume poti. If I want it more modern I switch to a Mesa 4x12 V30 IR or other of your liking. The reason I purchased it in the first place is, that it is easily the cheapest IR-Loader you can find. Everything else was just a bonus. And now I like it a lot for getting a decent sounding complete rig in the size of a big smartphone. No it's not on par with my Fractal AX8, but for practice I prefer it over my audio-interface to BIAS FX approach I was using before. The reason is the much better dynamics.

Did you get a loud background hiss when using distortion? I found it quite annoying. Not a buzz like a bad ground but a hiss like an old cassette tape.

I didn’t notice a loud hiss, but there was some noise, which I didn’t find too dissimilar from a high gain amp. Some simulators were more pronounced than others.

I think you messed up the review by demoing the amp models with the cab sim (IR) off. Everything is going to sound like trash without a cab sim.

This pedal is older than Temu exists 😂😂 You can get it for under 30$ online. If it had a Tremolo it would have been my perfect little companion. But, without it's sitting on the shelf for ages. And it's staying there. Some pedals are a good investment when becoming older 😂😂😂 For real, better get a Mooer PE-100, it's a bit more expensive but it does have quality simulations and effects, the M-Vave thingy isn't more than a toy to play around with for a while.
