In this video, I discuss why Nintendo games such as Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Odyssey have such scary, terrifying water levels. Also, I talk about how The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (BOTW) is also so scary. Reasons behind this spookiness includes, the Mario 64 Eel, BOTW Guardians Theme, Mario Creepypasta, Zelda Creepypasta and Nintendo Scariest Moments. Noki bay is easily the scariest mario level to this day. Absolutely incomparable to things like the talking piano or Luigi's Mansion. The drastic atmospheric change and major feeling of megalophobia and despair that you're met with once you enter the bottle level for the first time is genuinely terrifying. I appreciate the video ^^ I've gotten this feeling a couple of times, although none from the examples in the video... I have an extreme anxiety disorder though, and most of my moments are linked to that. Perhaps what you view as a shared moment of discomfort is a general anxiety trigger for those with any types of disorders for it (even if less extreme) :)

The most terrifying part in the Mario series is definitely the deep woods in odyssey. It is so eerie, and the fact that there is a huge Dino always stomping around, (which you can NOT kill or capture) who will chase and kill you on sight in there, just makes the whole area just terrifying to play through. And I haven’t even mentioned the BRUTAL task of getting back up to steam gardens, or the ominous stomps of the T-Rex coming closer to you.

There are a few parts of water levels in Nintendo games that's always put me on alert. funny enough the 64 DS maw-ray eel kind of felt more like a friend of sorts, because they start swimming around after you collect enough stars in jolly roger bay, similar to the eel in Dolphin shoals in Mario Kart 8, but my opinion shifted immensely with the Odyssey rendition of the maw-ray. the gringills from galaxy were a bit more scary, but despite that, the mario enemy that's terrified me the most is hands down the cheep chomp. Maw ray's and chain chomps just seem to be territorial and just, snap at Mario, but to my knowledge the cheep chomp is the only enemy which outright eats the player and it freaks me out!

For 3:33 it is the same thing for me but with the miniboss the evoker in Minecraft Dungeons. The music just starts ramping up and back when I was bad at the game when I saw that boss bar fade into my screen and the ghost noises start playing or something I would friggin start running in the opposite direction like a jumpscare or something

Dude the fucking Guardian theme fits so fuckin well though. It's literally a THEME of "HOLY SHIT GET THE HELL OUTTA THERE" because when a Guardian spots you that's what you gotta do. Unless it's a Stalker (legged fuckwads). Then you're absolutely fucked six ways to Sunday. Reverse piano notes also gave me big spooks on the first time hearing them.

and yeah, i share that feeling of uneasiness of colossal objects. when you climb the first sheikah tower and ganon wakes up, even by being quite far away it shows so big, so menacing... the king later advises you to not head directly to the castle, while he should have tried to convince me to no head back to the shrine of resurrection bc jesus christ that really made me poop my undies. it makes you feel powerless and very, very small...

None of these things ever scared me. This seems like an entirely you thing lol. You didn't even mention galaxy and its scariest level (which is imo the scariest level in a 3D Mario game): The Bone Fish boss fight level. That thing is terrifying, plus the creepy music and the little bone fish that beep at you louder and faster as they get closer 😰 Now that is an underwater level that's truly terrifying. Though I will say that seeing how small Link is compared to the Leviathan skeletons is quite unsettling, and reminds me of Subnautica, a game that genuinely terrifies me to the point that I can't even beat it.
