20:09 Joe is a guy that made a complaint to Tesla about the chimes in his Model 3 waking up / disturbing his kids, so Tesla made "Joe Mode" that quiets those sounds. Pretty cool of Tesla to do that. Unfortunately, it was not for the meme. 😪
19:50 joe is a random guy on twitter who tweeted @ Elon to add this feature then Elon saw the tweet and added it in the next update and named the feature after him
Re: "Joe Mode". Joe is a Tesla owner who reached out to Elon Musk through Twitter Asking for a system, [later named in his honor], to lower the noise levels on notifications to not disturb rear seat passengers, like his kids, that might be sleeping. Elon agreed with it and sent an over-the-air update to all Tesla's to now include this function, if you want it. As the saying goes, "ask and ye shall receive".
I remember reading about this guy I think he wrote to Tesla complaining about it disturbing his kids. Tesla is just a good bud so they named it after him.
I really love how excited Doug gets when he goes fast. Like a little kid. He’s done this in several reviews and each time I feel his excitement. Bravo Doug.
From what I remember Joe was a guy who said online that the alerts wake up his kids if they're sleeping in the back, and Tesla reacted and made a spacial feature for him
Joe is a guy who once said to elon that the car chimes too loud for his kid to sleep So in order to satisfy him,Elon developed a mode call Joe Mode just for him
i found those internal numbers really confusing when i first got into cars (and i dont understand the new ones either) and i dont understand how the 2-series coupe can look SO GOOD and the tourer looks like absolute garbage, and why are these cars under the same name? who came up with that horrible idea?
He actually complained to Elon on twitter that the warning sounds were waking his kids up, and that it would be a useful feature to disable them, so Elon made it happen, and called it Joe Mode
@@blackroute1527 I make $160,000 a year and I wouldn't call a $48k base price car to be in "affordable car" territory, that's BMW X1 and X2 money. I think something like a toyota rav4 or a mazda cx-30 would be classed as affordable cars to most people at around $26K . To be classed as "affordable" I would think it would have to be in the price range that a family at the median income level could afford it.
@@Loren1389 nobody is arguing that's it's not a good deal. The statement that it's "affordable" is what is relative to each person. I pay 373 a month for my vehicle, a new Tesla payment would be close 1k. How can anyone argue that's affordable?
Doug: "I will not go into too many details about the technology, for that watch my two previous Tesla videos." Also Doug: *talks about the tech for 20 min*
I actually wanted the tech details! I was amazed at Doug instead giving me a thorough explanation of foldable back seats first. Those have existed in just about every car ever made in the past 50 years! This is a new Tesla, why on earth are we spending minutes on this?
Previous month I was able to withdraw my first five figure income ever!!! I've been working for this company over the internet for 2 yrs now and I never been happier... They are paying me $95 per hour, and the most desirable thing regarding this is that I am not that tech-savvy, they just required standard idea of internet and common typing skill...Great thing about this is the more free time I got with my kids. I really wish that Doug could have reviewed the three row version. I know it wasn’t out yet. But it would have been nice to see how he fits in the back seats
@@Coasters3356 Yup my uncle just bought one in august of this year with the 3rd row, and when we flew to California a few months later he drove us around in his Tesla and i saw the third row and you cannot literally fit your legs in there you would have to curl up like a ball to sit in there. I don't even think small children could fit in there, only toddlers or small babies could sit in there.

I test drove a 2022 Model Y Performance a few weeks ago and I was blown away by it. It's wasn't the acceleration that surprised me - I expected that, it was the ability to chuck this into corners and drive it like a sports car. I've spent more than a few years racing cars and have a SCCA Regional Autocross title from racing a well prepared Miata. When I say "well prepared" we're talking a pretty penny in suspension upgrades (more than the car cost) and more than a few hours of test and tune to get the suspension settings, with the aid of other folks that know more about suspension than I and come at an unGodly cost for their time, to get the car where I wanted to go. Driving that Model Y in the twisties even after more than a decade of racing, I was laughing like a kid that got their most wanted Christmas present. Yeah, the Model 3 is lower and better handling, lighter, more aero and faster but this just defied logic. I don't understand how they get their traction control when driving stupid hard to make the car seem like you're out delivering groceries at 45 mph but I now get how Elon's other company can land rockets in a few years, which is something NASA could never do in a few decades.controllable
@@G0ddEityawesome Forget road cars. I've raced track specific cars - like Formula Ford, 125cc karts and the super simple Rotax Max Challenge karts. I've driven autocross cars that were stripped of everything including paint and weighed less than 1100lbs and put out over 300hp on Hoosier slicks that were stickier than F1 qualifying tires - just because that rubber compound would not take the punishment of an F1 car and last a lap. You press you nail into the tire, you better pull it out slowly otherwise you're losing your nail. When you get to that level, road cars don't stand a chance. Take a look at the SCCA National Autocross Championship results and see what the scoop is. How much faster is a race car on a fun twisty course verses a fast sports car on the same course with various levels of modifications. If you want road car examples of things that handle well, I still lived in the UK (before moving to the US in 99) and got to drive many times the Mark 1 series Lotus Elise Sport 135 in UK spec. A good friend had one after selling is Scooby Doo WRX - this was 4 years before said car came to the US. That car is the essence of pure. 145hp in a 1,500lb and change car. Will it be RU-vid friendly for going fast on the Autobahn, no. For smashing its way down very narrow English country lanes, absolutely. Being able to on-the-fly change power output between the front and rear motors and being able to control the traction control at around 1,000Hz rather than about 20Hz of a gasoline motor means that you have way more control over the output of the car. Consequently, why tires start to slip, a car like a Tesla will slow down the wheel spin and bring the tire back to grip levels so much faster than a normal traction control car ever could - and this is why a Model 3 Performance can do hot laps on par with a BMW M2 or M3 Competition for about half the price. The Model Y Performance isn't that far behind. Then again, I'm now just an old fart with a 200+hp BMW S1000RR as a commute bike that gets to almost 100mph in first gear in about 5 seconds. I like fast things. Much better getting on the gas on the bike in the morning on the freeway onramp and saving the lesser coffee caffeine kick until later in the morning.
As a motorcyclist in a lane-splitting state, I love it. You wouldn't believe how many times I come up to the light and there's a HUGE gap in front of the first car. But more often than not, that first car is stopped across the pedestrian crossing...
All i can say is, The Model Y LR is the one I did research on, and I got this Aug 2023. I really enjoy the vehicle. It has all the features I need and meets my daily driving requirements. Note I did not get FSD or EAP, felt these were not necessary plus too high a price for an addon. Thanks for the video and take care.
His enthusiasm is a little "over the top" for me but appears genuine so I can handle it. (Sorry Doug) My wife? now that's a different story, she'd shut this video down in a heartbeat.
i do that too, even if it takes three minutes to find the scissors, and when you open the chips you can say"thats right ive got the scissors, no tricks"
@A real bisexual petrol-head So...and here's a radical thought... If Doug brought back the full-flavor version of the Dougscore, and some people don't watch through it...they can just SKIP IT with the easy-to-use video controls. Those who DO enjoy the full Dougscore breakdown can continue to do so, and those who dont enjoy it, dont have to sit through it.

I agree about the little metal pin sticking out when you folded the middle seat down. Why didn’t they make that pin foldable and folded down & hidden to the side of the side seat when not in use?
It's important to know that while you're thinking of buying yourself a brand new Tesla, you should also consider investing it their stocks as well. I made tons and tons of profit in 2019 and large parts of this year too investing hugely in Tesla stocks and just recently I was advised by my Asset manager who manages my entire investment portfolio to add 10 mores Shares of Tesla stocks to my portfolio with expectations of high profit return in the coming months and I’ve just done that.
Anyone know about NIO? Nio is Often touted as the “Tesla of China,” China-based NIO is a young emerging player in the Electrical Vehicles (EV) market. I think it’s a good stock as well.
@@daynabruen1908 For me, Nio just like Tesla is a must buy for investors looking to invest long term rather than short. While both companies trade at a similar valuation, with a price-to-sales multiple of about 13.5x based on projected 2020 Revenue, Nio is growing more quickly, but Tesla might be the safer bet.

Excellent review Doug as always. Being 6ft 2, the only query I had was why the Model 3P got a comfort score of 7 & the Model Y got 6. For me & likely anyone over 6ft (possibly many less then 6ft), I’d imagine the Y would be much more comfortable getting in & out of.
Typical of ignorant Tesla fanboys like you to confuse comfort with something else other than ride quality lol. The model y has stiffer suspensions than model 3 to compensate for having higher centre of gravity so it can handle turns similarly. Therefore the ride is rougher
Can't tell which one I like more: - when Doug speaking enthusiastically about ANYTHING of the car, or... - when Doug hits the accelerator and can't contain himself. Or just both. :)
@Leopold English is not my native language, so maybe I misunderstood you. I thought you meant ”gear” as in ”gear box”. I would say it has a reverse mode (motor spinning backwards), rather than a reverse gear (motor spinning forwards but gear box makes the wheels spinning backwards), but as I said, I'm not a native English speaker, so maybe I'm just wrong about the terminology.
@Leopold You push up on the right stalk to put it in reverse while your foot is on the brake and you are stopped or barely coasting forward. When you want to go forward, you push the right stalk down, and then apply throttle in either case to increase your speed in the selected direction. The display screen, on the left side shows R or D in the respective mode.

Federal Bureau of Investigation I get that, all I was saying is this car does not have a lot of cargo space ie what the original comment was about. Also cargo space is a selling point in an suv. With luxury cars you get a lot more than what Tesla is offering for the price and you can drive over 300 miles with out stopping and having to charge your car for an hour. If you want a Tesla that’s fine but imo it’s impractical. If you needed a car that was super fast and never drove over 300 miles than sure it makes sense but it just seems like a novelty
