Who will be more upset by this video? Tesla people, saying I wasn't positive enough? Or car people, saying I'm biased towards Tesla? Today, we find out!
Tesla owner: "My car is calling me on the phone" Tesla: "There's some weird guy inside me talking about quirks and features and trying to change the temperature from Dog Mode to Doug Mode."
@@Partyaap050 I though the same. I foresee lots of flat spots on front tires. You'd think that they'd find a way to electronically disconnect the steering while gaming. And if it's running the electric assist, then it's also depleting the battery that much faster.
@Macro Economics oh ya. Elon is just smart and knows that all of these features will draw more attention to the cars and get people more interested. Even if it is simple as a fart noise😂
@GEORGE TRUMP "women do not find farts funny" You REALLY think that's the ONLY reason it can be used? What about if you're alone? Or if you're having a good time with the boys?
@Marco Deo You must not know very many women then... That, or the women you know just happen to be extremely uptight and have no sense of humor whatsoever. I'm guessing they buy into the self-image society tells them they should have, where they don't have all the same bodily functions that all human beings do (women shouldn't get dirty/don't poop/fart etc.).
@Marco Deo ... That seriously sounds like a real case of paranoia, maybe even paranoid schizophrenia. I would seriously suggest you take her to see a psychologist, or set up a virtual meeting with the webcam on your end turned off and covered with something, since she doesn't like being seen. That level of effort is far more than stereotypical feminine shyness. While there are a lot of women that are stereotypically shy, germophobic and dainty, there are also many women that are tomboyish, unafraid of getting dirty and assertive. In general I just don't think any group of people should be talked about as though they are all the same and have the same views, habits, etc.
And you literally have to imagine this, because you wouldn't "roll up to a mechanic" but file a bug report in your app and then it'd probably get fixed with an OTA update.
Yes, but it’s not possible due to safety issues I think. Even when hacking the car, it should turn when you turn the wheel. By implementing a way to disconnect the steering wheel movement from the actual wheels, you are making the car unsafe. Even when the software doesn’t allow you to play the game when driving. Computers can do weird things sometimes when people mess with them
Very true! Flat spot your tires by playing video games while not even moving! Does Tesla at least give you the option to play them with a wireless controller?
Thought I'd miss the dials behind the steering wheel, but now I can't stand having too look through the spokes of the wheel on other cars anymore... The placement to the right is always visible and works surprisingly good!
I think so too. But then again I can usually feel my speed really well. I don't mind glancing over but everyone has different ability to shift focus near and far.
@@MrGudim honestly, same. I really thought they were compromising with that screen off to the right. I simply don’t miss whatsoever, having a look through my steering wheel.
The thing about his videos are: most of them are on the gadgety infotainment system. NOT on the actual quality of the car but that's the thing about new cars: they are literally crap underneath but hey, look at the pretty screen! I can play video games....(car won't last 100,000 miles) who cares? I can play video games!!!!
And we still watch the whole video.. amazing.. I like how he doesnt make a 10min video for best monetization, yet if we all watch 34min videos till the end its that much better for monetization.. amazing hehe
@@muskokamike127 car rated for 1 million miles. Same motor as used in their semi. Everything is over-engineered in this thing; it's built like a tank and is the safest car on the road. Oh, and it plays video games, Netflix, RU-vid, and gets constant improvements.
Toyota: We don't want our cars to be in racing games Tesla: We want racing games in our cars Edit: This comment is now obsolete since Toyota gave out lincenses for all their cars to PG and Forza Horizon 4. Hurraay Btw thanks for 1500 Likes😀
"This" is perfectly acceptable to begin a sentence. "And" and "but" should not begin a sentence... except of course for this exact sentence I just typed.
@@spiralnapkin The reason you were taught that is because as a kid, if they didn't tell you that then you'd start every sentence with "and," "but," "so," and so on.
Exactly what happened to me... Waiting in a supermarket carpark for my kids to finish shopping, started beachbuggy racing... Guy pulled up next to me and asked if I was OK or should he call an ambulance. (I'm nearly 70, so he probably thought I was having some kind of seizure.)
I was following a Tesla Model 3 Performance just a couple of weeks back, while running errands for self isolators during the Covid pandemic. It was the first day that people were beginning to be allowed a bit more freedom, so there were more cars again. Being more cars again they tried a little bit of much missed traffic jamming. Then suddenly there was a tiny gap that I could never have accelerated through with my slouch car, but the Tesla went from say 40mph to 70mph, and didn't seem to pass through 50 and 60 to get there. Of course that couldn't be, but I'm not kidding, it actually looked instantaneous. Before I noticed my mouth had dropped open in surprise, the Tesla was a dark blue dot. Even the memory of it astonishes me.
Tesla should put an options of fake engines sounds like v6 turbo, v8, v10, v12 and f1... And some other wierd sound like fighting jet, horse running, two strokes engine, helicopter sound etc. it'll be more fun..😂😂😂
The fact that this video was uploaded today and i assume was recorded a couple weeks ago, and today the car now has 5% more power and more configurable features is unreal
Yeah there are new features every few weeks. Not to mention that they’re all applied retroactively so the car he reviewed 2 years ago has all of these features
@@sir_booty_cakes According to Drag Times vbox it can do 2,9xx since the update, so yeah.. They were doing 3s times before that, which is 0.2s better than promised. So the score should definitely be a 10.
Agreed! The main thing I didn't like at first was the flat grill but imo it looks better as teslas are getting more common. I see atleast 11+ teslas everytime I go out. Also trying to convince my dad 2 get one bc of the 20% drop in price + the 7.5k tax credit.
He never really mentioned the fact that you can "download" horsepower with this car. The latest update somehow gives about 5% more power to the engine, and I have not seen any other auto manufacturer that "can" do that
@@tiborklein5349 yeah but I bet you'd have to go through a whole lot of BS (and probably a lot of money) but this one allows you to just "update" the thing from a wi-fi
@@glass6160 Can it tho? I thought it was mandatory that there is some sort of mechanical connection from the steering wheel to the wheels of the car, so that if all else fails, you can still turn, just as it is mandatory to have two independent direct links from your brake pedal to the brakes of the car.
No they don't. Any Tesla Model S or X built before March 2018 is not getting any of the games or other new cool features because "their computers are too old".
Model 3s do get almost all of these features, except Track Mode which is only available on a Model 3 Performance. The Model 3 has actually gotten even better since this review was completed as Tesla delivered a 5% power boost and improvements to everyday driving (one pedal driving) via an OTA software update. The one that Doug reviewed didn't have this update yet.
Doug complains about the performance 3 not having cooled seats but gives a $250k mcclaren gt a pass on that while he’s sweating profusely during his review of it. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
different types of cars that happen to be around the same speed. you get into a performance car you kind of expect issues, its low so may be harder to get in and out of, features removed to save weight, normally 2 seaters so not good for main family car and so on. the model 3 is a family car (that happens to be quick) but you still want the family comfort features
@@vapour80 but the mcclaren gt is supposed to be just that....a gt (grand tourer). With that being the case, the first guy has a valid point that's hard to argue.
How many people made a comment almost identical to this one? I counted 6 so far, it's about 1 in every 10 comments as you scroll down so it must be about 700 people or so...
Sold my Seat Leon Cupra 280 DSG and bought a Model S P85D, not missing the Cupra one bit, and I considder myself a proper car guy. It's really strange.
The philosophy of Tesla is be a jackass, and act like you're better than everyone else because you drive a Tesla. It's the US equivalent of a Jaaaag in Europe.
@@SideOfHustle it's not on the website, it would need testing and recertification. It is true though, several YT videos showing the difference between the software versions and someone hit 2.9 to 60.
@@SideOfHustle needs to have software 2019.36.2.1 and above 70% battery to have all the power. Also the performance version (Performance >Long Range >Standard Range Plus). Highly recommend a drive regardless, especially if you've never driven a Tesla. I have the SR+ and love it.
@@mikka272 That reminds me of one of my favorite Gary Larson cartoons where it shows the dude in his yard sort of hiding behind a tree and the sign says "Beware of Doug"
I agree although, I don't know about you but I never got taught how to form letters in a specific way. I just looked at them and replicated it in whatever way I thought made the most sense. Most people tell me I write in a weird way but it's just the way you learned.
@@samsung7633 it might be because I haven't watched a review of a Tesla, but I didn't know it had all these quirks and features, but now I do. Plus, I always thought it costed more.
@@Winglessflight97 I used to have a Model S, the inverter made balloon deflation noises when you floored it. Unintentional on Tesla's part at the time ;D
@@Jluislive understand where you're coming from, but isn't it pointless to compare his system to any other? I mean, it is called the DOUG score... Hence, it's how Doug would rank a car in certain categories. No one has to agree with him.
@@Bwahahahahahahahahahaha I've owned the M3P for about a week now and unless you have a garage with a high amp charger, this thing he way less practical than an ICE vehicle.
I would use the Emissions testing system whenever my mother was in the car. I do like that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. I’m not sure if I’m ready for full auto pilot, but maybe in a few years. It can’t account for other drivers mistakes which could make lane changes a little scary. Faux leather wears a lot faster than the real thing and I can see it showing after a few years. Multi purpose buttons are a great idea.
The world has gone mad. Once upon a time, a horse was a good vehicle to get around. It was 100% eco friendly. It warmed itself and was ready in any weather. It consumed 100% organic fuel. It returned beneficial substance back to the soil. It was self-summoning. It responded to voice command. It provided companionship, even loyalty. It refueled itself, for free as a matter of survival. It was all-terrain, going places no modern vehicle can go. It reproduced itself so younger up to date models replaced old models. It was mostly silent when in motion. It was able to move in deep snow, through a river, over a desert, over a mountain, through a valley. It could detect things the rider couldn't often see and avoid them. It could communicate with other horses when necessary, and did not risk collision. All of this without coal plants, oil wells, foundaries, mineral mines, charging stations, paved roads, sonar, radar, motion detection, facial recognition, satellite swarm, artificial intelligence, an army of corporations and supply chains, computer grid, and heated garages. And today people think an EV is the future.
Most bang for buck? Tendency to overheat, only fast from 0-60, mediocre interior as you know it from a Kia, electric issues nobody talks about etc.? Yeah no.
@@LILOCW This is gonna be the common theme in the automotive world in 2020. I've never been a Corvette fan, but I'm getting a C8 as soon as I'm able. That car is quite literally a game changer
As a Tesla owner, I completely disagree. We love these cars precisely BECAUSE they don't slap us in the face as we drive. There are no face slaps of any kind - no service visits, not stinky gas station visits, no fluid changes, no spark plug changes, no nothing. Just incredible performance and comfort, unbelievable tech, and ultimately it's Car 2.0. THAT is why we love them. Doug's comment implies that we are somehow blind to any kind of problem with the vehicle because we are somehow brainwashed. The only people who could voice such crap are those who don't live with such amazing cars. The fact that he can giggle like a schoolgirl with how the car handles and still come back to slap it and the owners is annoying.
@@ColinFox actually talking about service visits, setup is through app and THEY come TO YOU for most of the issues. You don't even have to come to car if you don't want to, can unlock over the air from comfort of your couch
