I understand some of this information I have may be slightly off from what it actually is but the point of this video was to at least show that these items exist
the top notch exists because notch tweeted at valve saying that no one actually believed it was him in-game, so valve gave him his own one of a kind hat
@@itscode3931 I'm pretty sure one of the devs said that as a joke but we'll never know if it was actually true, unless there was enough footage of notch playing to analyse
fun fact: the very first few strange southern hospitalities did not have the "sentry kills" part equipped. this was later patched after ~150+ were discovered, but the glitched ones continued to lack said strange part.
There's actually another Randolph the Blood Nosed Caribou, but it has been in a private account for almost all of its existence. I can't recall if legacy spells ever existed for real, however for a period of time after the 2013 Halloween Update, spells were still tradable and usable as long as the person whose spells were being traded to had the game open and used the spell before closing the game. I actually knew about all of these items except the invalid particle Burstchester. I also own a glitched item which I believe might be the only one of its kind which is a renamed and redescribed Competitive Matchmaking Beta Pass (you can't normally use a name or description tag on it).
Spells applied after they were removed are called post lifes and you would obtain them originally by trading a non updated tf2 account's spells to an updated one. This was fixed in 2016 when spells were made untradrable, with the last items released that you were able to spell being Halloween 2015
This is nice since I haven't bothered to look some of these up myself! Maybe the Top Notch isnt really a "glitched" item? Also the end of the line unusual miscs would have been nice to see, like the Unusual Coldfront Curbstompers and Sleeveless in Siberia.
There are actually 2 items I think deserved to be on here, which were the tradeable Self-Made Max's Head with C. Sparkle and the Self-Made Big Kill with C. sparkle. Saw them up for sale for 5000 and 2000-something dollars.
@@D3m0manTF2 C, sparkle Max's, Lugermorph, Big Kill, etc. are not glitched. They were given to Telltale Games employees before the release of Poker Night at the Inventory and for some reason were made tradable. Some were duped, though, and those are technically glitched items.
@@FoulUnderworldCreature They are not tradeable afaik, the one I've seen for sale was gift wrapped and sold for 9000 for the max head and 3000 for the big kill. Also community sparkle is not the same as self made.
Great job man. This video was great quality and I'm happy to see a player that actually knows about these. Also, for context on the normal batsaber, I actually watched my friend unbox one from a invasion case when the crates dropped. From what I can tell there was some sort of mistake where if you got a batsaber early in the update it would be normal in quality. That's why there are a handful of them.
There was a paint spell glitch that got patched out back in the day, but there existed hats that had paint spells that were active all year round rather than only through Halloween/Full Moon/Eternaween.
My favorite rare item that I knew of is the "death-defying skull" aka the unusual spine-chilling skull given to a make a wish kid back in the day, who beat cancer, which just gives the item a so much more legendary status
1. The painted Vita-Saw: last I remember it lies in a banned account/backpack. 2. The Mythical Bitter Taste of Defeat and Lime Green Painted Cow Mangler 5000: The Painted C.W. Community denies its existence, but only a few long gone circles knew of it. I remember the days when the painted Manglers actually shot the colored beams it was painted, and when it shot 5 projectiles not 4. I had the liberty of witnessing it in a round of KOTH Badlands back in 2012.
I remember getting a glitched unusual taunt. It was the Burstchester with an invalid particle. A guy from Valve, his name was Mike Ambinder, sent me an email about it to see if I wanted it fixed. Me being stupid and not seeing the worth in it decided to take the deal. I sold it at some point. He said there were only twelve, though now only eleven if you subtract mine, but I have no idea if anyone else took the deal.
I remember it being joked in an oldddd team fortress 2 competitive match with some internet popular people by one of the dudes who worked on tf2 that the notch hat actually gave 25% more damage and they gave it to notch as a prank. Dont know if there's any validity to that but thought it was interesting
Yooooo, really cool video! Half that was in it i don't really know that ever existed :o. (i'm playing from 2015) In my opinion, you should make a video, that can tell about special items, like duck journal. lucky no.42. and so on. I'll be looking forward for it! :D
When the black rose got mentioned, I recalled using one once, despite never completing any obscure task to unlock it. And lo and behold, I still have it. Gifted to me by someone named "Lebowkski" on June 18th, 2014, 12:37:04GMT (I got this when I was bloody 13 years old apparently). It's marked as untradable, which obviously contradicts the line above it. It's quite insane to realize I own such a rare thing, yet I never used it. Younger-me always felt other knives were better to show off with, and I subsequently forgot it existed at all. Well, now I know what knife I'm using next I play this game. I feel like I've won a lottery now, even though I can't "cash-out".
At the beginning of jungle inferno, the first war paints were a grade down. I.e mercanary grade was civilian specifically but they changed it a bit later. I used a civilian grade stat clock on a cardboard boxed black box when the skin quality was still civilian. Now what I'm unsure of is how that stat clock will work, I'm unsure if it was updated to mercanary or it is a mercanary grade skin with a civilian grade stat clock as I sold it soon after. I could look really closely at my market history.
IIRC the deflector/any item glitch involved making an item set as "default" or "stock" so it would always spawn with the players inventory when they booted the game up. You could change any item to be "stock" and therefore spawn it into the game.
In addition to the mentioned unpaintable painted items, there are a few instances of painted Chicken Kiev's. Aside from that, it is also known that Horsemann's Hand-Me-Down could also be painted for a short period of time. The paint would change the color of the patch on the cape.
The extended item name exploit has been patched silently since sometime mid August after I reported it to the TF2 Team. I never wanted it to be a big thing, but it kind of spread like wildfire after I told a few friends about what I had found. This was only the latest variation of an extended name exploit, as others existed in the past. The old one only worked on Name Tags, and only extended the character limit to 80 characters. This one worked on both Name and Description tags, extended name tags to 125 characters, and extended description tags to 253 characters. It also allowed you to use linebreaks inside the name and description, along with certain control characters. One thing I never shared with anyone was the fact that typing past the new character limit would actually store the data you type, but not display it on Steam or in TF2. I know this because viewing said items on a trading site will actually display the text you typed on the item, even though it's completely missing everywhere else. I own the only items with that quirk.
You are correct on the post life spells The reason their are no spells left in in a that aren’t applied to hats is because valve patched the gift wrapped ones
I have two unusual hats which I have unboxed with semi-glitch or glitch unusual region. One my unusual Haunted Ghosts Prehistoric Pullover effect is in the waist. Second is my Blizzardy Storm Prehistoric Pullover where the effect is in the chest. My friend also unboxed one and his Blizzardy Storm Hat Outta Hell is also in the chest. People have commented on my profile saying you can do the glitch with the unusual effect, but I've tried it and never worked.
I wonder if the deflector even worked correctly in normal matches since its stats and minigun sound only really apply in mvm and should break outside of it.
for a very short time when unusual creators are granted their unusual caps, they have no unusual effect, and then the item is modified to add the effect. so theoretically if whichever employee is granting them were to miss one, the unusual creator would be left with a self made unusual cap with no effect (except the community sparkle which is hard-coded to apply to self-made and community quality)
i was looking at my inventory histoy and i found out i had actually deleted my spine-chilling skull hat, after i sent an email to steam support i actually got it back so i guess they do restore items but it was still untradeable.
I actually have 2 of the haunted metal items because you used to be able to gift wrap the HHHH as well as the metal. I have the HHHH as well as the Spine-Cooling Skull. This is on the description of my Headtaker: Unusual Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker Level 5 Axe This Weapon has a large melee range and deploys and holsters slower No random critical hits -25 max health on wearer Cursed by dark spirits similar to those that dwell within the Eyelander. Gift from: n12Xp Date Received: Saturday, November 2, 2013 (4:39:55) GMT All you had to do was gift wrap the item and trade it that way. I had the Bounty Hat too, it was tradable in the same way. All the different Bounty Hats were.
i have 2 directors vision taunts because of the gift glitch (got gifted it back in 2015 and i have my achievement one aswell) I also got into the game with the guy who has the sunbeams gibus during halloween last year.
Long ago when Poker Night at the Inventory came out or was about to, the Iron Kurtain was craftable and I managed to get it. Unfortunately it was never tradable but it does have the neat difference of not being listed as an achievement item. No idea if it has any worth but I’ve always wondered and loved it ever since
In the good old days you could gift wrap anything. But it was pstched later on. Thats how i got two of some non tradeable items like the HHH pumpkin head
as far as i know up until like very late 2015, spells were still purchasable and appliable. i've got inventory and market history of me buying the pyro's muffled moan spell after gun mettle released and applying it to a mishap mercenary
im pretty sure you could consider this a glitch, not that I know much about it. but there are some items which have spells on them that (like the strange parts) should've have been able to been applied. a friend of mine has a gunslinger with pumpkin bombs, and obviously that doesn't make any sense. I'm pretty sure you weren't allowed to have pumpkin bombs on it, even though it is a wrench.
the sunbeams ghibus was a hat given to a bug finder the bug was being able to use a giftapult as a key so yeah i think the reward is fair for the bug and chaos they probably prevented
Actually I got a bunch of my achievement/untradable items back earlier this year when I made a support ticket. I specifically asked for my mercenary badge but I was asked to go through my item history and list every item I wanted back that was deleted. Funnily enough there was a Vintage mercenary badge there right next to my normal one and I was hoping to get it back in vintage. Sadly that didn't happen. I do have 2 black roses since I gift wrapped one from an alt account before I got my old one back from support.
The gift wrapped untradable items simply were untradeable items that were able to be gift wrapped before valve removed the ability to do so. That’s why i got two items crafted from haunted scrap and that’s also how I got the Demopan hat before it was made tradable.
the glitched upgrade to premium from what i remember was a test item that ended up in the drop system wich later got patched might be completely wrong tho so dont count on me
OKAY I have honestly never been so excited. I love TF2 items, icebergs, and RARE things Instant sub Edit: little disappointed with the lack of research on some things that are pretty known with some searches, but good compilation
I crafted my manniversary paper hat. For a short time it was possible, has the "crafted by my name" message on it. Couple times a year someone inquires if im interested in selling but id rather just keep it.
I very much want a lot of these glitched items, I think they're so cool. Only interesting thing I ever did was get a low craft Mutton Mann forever ago, think it was craft #83 ?
I never knew that my Vintage sergeant's drill hat was a legacy item, its painted team spirit without the text, or that my Soldier of fortune medal from 2008 says that I got it at the middle of midnight aka 00 : 00 : 00
There used to be a painted brown Vita Saw that was on sale on tf2 outpost years and years ago. The dude's username was Billy Mays. I don't think the vita saw had a visible difference from other vita saws.
