and the original recording from 1982 sound like the guitar part could have been created and played by johnny marr, so no wonder mind bomb sounded like a band at the height of their imperial phase.

I think "Uncertain Smile" is a beautiful and haunting song about unrequited love. The lyrics are incredibly evocative, and the music is both atmospheric and moving. The song's title is a perfect description of the feeling of being in love with someone who doesn't love you back. It’s a a atmospheric song who is clearly heartbroken, but nobody still can't help but smile when he thinks of the person he loves. This song is a reminder that even in the midst of heartbreak, there is still beauty to be found. It is a beautiful and haunting song that is sure to stay with you long after you hear it.

When I play this song, folks ask me who it is and I say "The, The", and they respond "The Who"? I say not the "Who". "The, The". I generally give up. You had to of lived through the 80's to fully appreciate this band!

Saw this concert in May 1990 at Ancienne Belgique, Brussels. Right in the middle of exam preparations in the last year of high school. Had bought the Mind Bomb CD and it'd blown me away. The concert was fantastic. Being a drummer, The The's drummer David Palmer made a big impression: great playing on the album as well as live.

This is nice - very mellow and comforting - that piano dude is rather good - the jangling guitar sound is sweet - The band had a good run the 80s with those brilliant albums Soul Mining - Infected and Mind Bomb

Saw The The at Portsmouth Guildhall on this tour, the loudest gig, and one of the best, I have ever experienced. My hearing wasn't right for several days after.

The the.Had me a few listens in.was in Oddessy hse ch ch N.Z.86.Theyre wasnt z great choice of tapes.to play on Night Duty.But thankfully Ĥave always Had there 1st n 2nd L.Ps.+3rd Mindbomb.too.'Beaten Gen'...Like J.Division.its always great .! Thanks to Matt.n others.esp Johnny Marr.! Listening to sm early Joy D..now the gtr's rough mix but great drums very slick..its good.['No Love Lost']..I need it...

Back in the late 80's they were ...... (not underground)... but didn't get the airplay off Radio 1 they deserved . Because it's proper music from proper musicians !!! . GREAT TRACK ..... all these years on 🙂 .

There was an advertisement on Portuguese TV in the 80's asking youngsters to join the police force. The start of this advertisement showed a robber stealing a car at the sound of uncertain smile. Every time I hear this song I'm thrown back to this age. What a tune!
