Emily is the true definition of a Christian/religious person. Someone who is loving and accepting of others and is open to the possibility of bettering yourselves and bringing joy and happiness to the world. I stepped away from organized religious groups a while back because I realized how easy it can be to become corrupt and refuse to believe that you are wrong and afraid of what’s different from you. I found it interesting and potentially exciting seeing the upper angels arguing with themselves after seeing the extermination showing that there can be change.

"You Didn't Know" is such a powerful number, everything about this song is fire. The Charlie's passion, Adam's smugness, Lute's rage, Emily's disillusionment, the revelation that Sera is a little unhinged, the HARMONY, and Adam revealing in front of everyone Vaggie's past. Amazing!

A seraphim is traditionally the highest order of angels. Sera introduced her as the high seraphim and Emily introduced herself as another seraphim.

Angel rocked this episode. Playing "big brother" to Nifty and telling Val to f*** off was so satisfying to watch.

Seraphim isn't actually Sera's name but longer. Its the type of Angel she is. Emily and Lucifer are Seraphims as well. The Six wings is the indicator i believe

Another thing to note is I don’t think Charlie will be upset that Vaggie was an exorcist that murdered thousands, if not millions, of her own people. It's more the fact she kept this from her for so long and enabled her pipedreams, and didn't trust her to tell her. That's what me and many others think. But this will get sorted out next episode.

This is where the musical elements of Hazbin has really shined, I really hope this show gets a season 2. The harmony between Emily and Charlie was golden. Emily is definitely gonna be a lot of people's favorite character after this episode.

I was shocked and happy to see Molly make her debut. It's so sweet and I hope her and Anthony (AKA Angel Dust) meet up someday. It'll be so sweet for siblings to meet. And then Angel will tell about his mobster family .

Two things: 1. I can’t wait to see Morgan’s reaction with Emmy and Charlie singing together. I’m a broken record but they sound absolutely beautiful together. 2. I know these characters aren’t real but we grow an attachment to them, and we fall in love with them and want to support them…. I hope they’re as proud of Angel as I was when he stood up to Valentino! I’ve already seen the episode just love watching Morgan’s reaction.

That moment where Charlie and Emily sang together was definitely one of the best musical moments of the season. Honestly I already love Emily so much and really hope she gets a bigger role next season. Sera's a sanctimonious, self-righteous, hypocrite, but I think she has a chance to atone before the end of this season.

Two things I've noticed is when Sera was talking to Adam, she was talking about his "yearly" activity. However we know that Adam has turned it into a 6 months thing. The question is: Did Adam decide that on his own and Sera doesn't know? If so, Sera should've caught onto that when Adam sung "We'll see you in 1 month" Except if Sera doesn't know WHEN the extermination happenes. Another thing: Vaggie could have easily outed Adam after he outed her. The orb-thingy can clearly show the past. So Vaggie could have said/yelled to Adam: "Oh, so why do I not have wings and what happened to my eye? Care to explain? *points attention to the orb* Or should I show them what you did to me?!"

I really don't think Sera's a bad person at her core - she's just so afraid of the idea of Hell rising up against them that she's turned to Adam's Exterminations and can't see another way out. She looks miserable when Charlie asks her if she even cares during the song - hell she looked miserable for most of the episode once the song started. There may also be angels above her - the Elders mentioned in the Ep. 1 tale. There's a theory going around that there may be Angels embodying the Seven Heavenly Virtues which rule Heaven not Sera. As for the tale Charlie read from the book in the first episode it's undoubtedly the story from Lucifer and Lilith's pov - for all we know Lilith did rouse Hell to arms against Heaven or Lucifer/Lilith pushed Heaven too far in the past (at least from Heaven's pov). Hopefully we find out more in Season 2. On redemption - as far as Heaven's concerned if a Soul doesn't automatically rise from Hell redeemed then there's no proof. Likely due to the fact even Sera doesn't seem to have a clue how souls get into Heaven beyond some invisible Divine Judgement sending them there. Even if they wanted they may be powerless to actually redeem a soul and allow them to ascend to the Heavenly Realm. As it stands redemption may be just impossible with how the system functions - it seems to only judge either way at the moment of death (otherwise we'd expect Adam to have fallen for his behaviour). Then there's the fear of falling. It seems that by questioning how things work you may just simply end up fallen. That fear may also consume Sera and, now the other Angel's are in the know about the Exterminations, that could spread. My hope is Em doesn't fall and that she's able to organise political opposition to the exterminations by gathering like-minded Angels to her side (we saw them arguing during the song so a lot may be horrified by the revelation of what the Exorcists do). It would be cool if she and some allies (maybe even Molly) got involved in the extermination to try and halt the war before it goes too far. Anyway my silly random thoughts aside - this was an amazing episode and "You didn't know" may be my favourite song yet (it's definitely up there!). Great reaction as always!

Step 1. Get distracted by character design and miss that Sera introduces herself and Emily as Seraphim. Step 2. Get distracted trying to figure out if Sera and Seraphim are connected somehow and miss that the Exterminations are supposed to be secret. Step 3. THE REST OF HEAVEN DOESNT KNOW! 😮

Something about angel that seems to be very part of his character, is that he's very protective. We see it on episode 4, when even though Valentino had him chained and he was absolutely terrified, his head was with Charlie "Please, don't hurt her" and we see that again here with Niffty not wanting them to go through the same things he has and that hits really hard ;w; And then we see her sister is in heaven and it hits really FREAKING HARD!

One thing that is really interesting but is said as practically a throwaway line The exterminations weren’t Sera’s idea…they were Adam’s

It actually makes sense that they don’t know what get someone into heaven. Lucifer created hell accidentally so it wasn’t part of their plan. So Sera saying there is no evidence of getting a demon into heaven actually makes sense since to them if Angel was redeemed he would just appear. Not siding with Sera about the extermination stuff, but she wasn’t wrong about the redemption stuff.

everything about this episode was so incredible! ranging from the songs, the characters, to that incredible plot twist!

I love how Em, Sera, Lute, and Adam all represent different types of Christians. Em is the genuine Christian, the person who genuinely believe in the morals and lessons being taught. Sera is the fearful Christian, the person who was raised believing in damnation and eternal consequences for questioning those in higher positions than her. Lute is the hardened Christian, the person whose questioning was likely beaten out of her until she became just as stalwart and extreme as those who raised her. And then there's Adam, the person who knows that their morals and philosophies are bs but he's learned to take advantage of them to get what he wants. THIS is how you do the Heaven vs Hell themes with nuance!

I love the part of the song "You Didn't Know" that matches the beat of Adam's song Hell is Forever, it demonstrates how the ideas that Angels perpetuate are false. The musical aspect of this show is freaking phenomenal!

"This court finds no evidence that a soul can be redeemed" It is bullshit but I think many people miss it that the ruling was made because while Angeldust did do everything the people in heaven think it takes to get here..he did not suddenly appear in heaven in a flash of light. "Why isn't he here then?" Asks Adam rightfully. No one knows and seemingly controls who gets to heaven. The angels just welcome the souls who "got lucky" I guess and end up at the pearly gates. And so if Angeldusts acts nice in hell but does not appear in heaven..then CLEARLY there is no evidence that a soul can be redeemed. Sure it can be a kangaroo court but I think that was not the reason why the Sara made the ruling she did.

Angel Dust actually not failing miserably when observed was surprising.

Everyone is throwing shit to Sera... I actually see her reason... She is so overwhelmed by responsabilities and so scared that something terribile could happen to Emily and Heaven that it's understandable why she is behaving like that... Not that she is doing the right thing, but I undersand why she is so wary....

So something to say, Adam says “next month” meaning 5 months have passed and this meeting took at least a month to even occur as last episode the date was still at months. Boy are we moving fast.

I mightt get hated for this, but I don't think Sera is some kind of big bad here, I think it's clearly an institutional problem and Sera was geniunely worried about Emily falling, sounds like to me that the moment an angel starts to question they get kicked out, like Lucifer or straight up mutilated in Vaggie's case. Wouldn't be suprised if Sera ended up being a victim of the system too

Just an FYI, if your planning on making an oc for HH I suggest matching it up with how your oc died as a human. Like if they drowned, give it more of a water appearance. If it got killed give it any design that was connected with the murder. If attacked by any animal, make it an animal :3 but u don't need too!! It's ur choice and ur oc

I really love the perspective this episode has on using heaven and Adam as different aspects of Christianity. As a Christian myself, a lot of what people assume Christian are like irl has to do toxic Christians, very controlling, very biased, very discriminating. In reality, those are just stand out more. In reality, most Christians are like Emily, kind, caring, and accepting. I love how they show that not all people in heaven are like Adam, as only a few people know about the exterminations and are surprise when they find out. The one thing I love though, was just calling out the hypocrisy of toxic Christian. The whole thing about no one really knowing what gets you to heaven, Because no good deeds can make you get to heaven when you're alive. God loves and cares for everyone so much that he died and he just wants us to do better and improve. Ironically what Charlie is just trying to do. So when a toxic Christian, discriminates, belittles, and sins themselves against other sinners, but says it's different for them because they are Christians and perfect. They are straight hypocrites. Judgementalism and favoritism are both sins. "He without sin cast the first stone" we've all sinned, and thanks to God we don't die from it, it's what we do to improve ourselves and others that makes us good people, and it's all that God wants. Definitely really love this episode

Interesting thing to note is that when Sera says "We know when a soul arrives", not "We know why that soul arrives" They apparently need to pass "Divine Judgement", so if anything Charlie should go find out who's passing this Divine Judgement and stick it to 'em

Something makes me wonder, Adam said he NAMED Vaggie. This can be two things, he gave her the nickname (then why would she still be using it down in hell) or she was made up in heaven to be a exterminator. If she was made, then what does that mean? Also the fact that she and Lute look very similar and not really like other people in heaven.

How come Charlie didn’t figured this out herself, well I think (before the hotel) right after an extermination Charlie would go out to find sinners who were caught but were only injured, so after the extermination of 2014 she found Vaggie thinking she was a sinner who was caught but was lucky enough only to lose an eye explaining what Charlie was doing in that ally with bandages to begin with

I'm very much getting the impression that Sera is TERRIFIED of going against the current way of doing things, and I suspect it's got to do with powers above herself.

The hate for Val is so strong, he’s such a great character for that. I think this does hit more feelings for the main characters when there’s these real villainous characters around

It was the 1900s, so Molly probably stayed home with her mother too cook and clean because she's a women, while the men went out and did mafia stuff, so technically she didn't commit any sins to be put down in Hell, she didn't partake in any drug deals or murders

I feel like the meaning of "The court finds there is no proof human souls can be redeemed" more is about the fact that there is no proof they can go to HEAVEN, because they all have no clue what gets you into heaven, and Angel Dust looked like he deserved heaven, but he wasn't there, so thus that must mean demons cannot be redeemed. Sure, they can improve, but there is yet to be proof of actual redemption in terms of going to heaven.

Seraphim are one of the highest classes of Angels (and the type that Lucifer is). They say that Sera and Emily are Seraphim when they're introduced (though they say it wrong when they talk about themselves since they should be saying Seraph when they're talking about just one of them).

I think the masks having a missing eye is a reference to ’an eye for an eye’ which could provide some insight into the mentality of Adam and the other exorcists.

If Angel Dust gets to be in heaven he will be reunited with his twin sister Molly😊

In terms of plot this episode is the juicest cake we have in season 1 so far. Finally getting an extensive look into heaven rather than a preview jpeg from helluva boss, learning about the intercomplexeties of heavens political system, and watching Angel develop by keeping Nifty outta (too much) trouble was all amazing. Sirpentious is always great too

I think angel dust couldn't go to heaven because his soul is being held captive by Valentino. So in Order to go to heaven he must free himself from this contract.

Commenting before the reaction here, but if Adam doesn't get the punching bag treatment for this episode, I hope a cutout is made and prepared for the final two episodes of the season!

I think the masks are meant to emulate executioner masks, with a big part of it being anonymizing the killer, and given the secret nature of the purges, it's probably so individual angels can't be identified. There is also a fairly plausible theory that the exterminators are primarily not human/angels but are some other artificial beings, with only the leadership/commanders being living beings (remember the somewhat mechanical looking gold angels near the end of the second song in episode 1)

I love that whenever Adam or Lute are singing the other is in the background acting as a hypeman for them.

Nice lil hint with Vaggie being an angel was in episode one. When Charlie bolts out the door and starts her song. Vaggie covers her nose. So far only Angels seemed grossed out just being in hell. Even Charlie briefly with the "if you don't mind the smell.." lyric. So Hell probably reeks for Angels.

Yeah only Sera and the Exorcists know of the exterminations. Sera only approved of them because she felt that something had to be done about Hell's overpopulation and the fear of them uprising, though Lucifer was able to work out a deal with her so that the Exorcists can only kill Sinners, leaving Charlie and Hellborns alone Yes none of Heaven actuality knows about the exterminations. In fact, Emily wasn't the only Angel in the council to be horrified by the exterminations, the ENTIRE council was horrified by them Angels have ranks and classes. Seraphim are the highest rank and are the most powerful of Angels. Lucifer is a former Seraphim

One thing to keep in mind from this episode is that the conversation between Sera and Adam says that ADAM was the one who suggested the extermination. He probably lied to Sera about the uprising and Sera, with her whole heart, believes that Hell was uprising because Adam said so and doesn't even believe that he could possibly lie. I don't blame her at all for believing him.

11:55 this line hits different when you realize that none of the angels remember their old lives so they don’t remember when they had a hard day so no one can vouch for the recreational drinks. Also I’m so fucking sad that Molly prob doesn’t remember Angel which is just gonna make their reunion hurt more!

Somthing i think people should consider with cheri is that 'redemption' is such an impossible concept for sinners. She KNOWS that drugs and promiscuity numb the pain so thats what she offers her hurting friend. Things she knows gets results.

My craziest moment? The fact that Sera denied Charlie's request despite the evidence being put right in front of their f***ng faces.

Vivzie mentioned on an episode of the HunieCast that Cherry was always Australian, but none of her lines in the pilot really let it be emphasized much, so you have to really listen closely to hear it. When Krystal appeared on the HunieCast and did Cherry's voice it was much more apparent. Vaggie's situation brings up two questions: why is sparing a child a crime worthy of being cast out of Heaven, and more importantly, why are _children_ going to Hell? Something that occurred to me after watching the episode was that by deciding to attack the Hotel first, it's not just Adam being a petty vindictive dick, they're destroying the evidence.

I know it's just a minor detail, but I like how this episode gives a lot more weight to Valentino's rage back in episode 2. Angel Dust moving out of the studio in fact was a big deal, since before he had to follow Valentino's orders 24/7.. Also in a very, very twisted way Serra was right - if noone knows what gets a soul into heaven, of course the angels can't see any proof of the Hotel working. Charlie had no chance from the start - which we all expected to be fair, but for completely different reasons.

I think you're the first person I watched that mention how anime Sir Pentious was when he noticed Cherri there lol. Overall I loved this episode. Probably my new favourite tbh. Emily is already my new favourite character. And I love that Heaven turned out to be a bit different than we expected. It's still got plenty of uptight people, but also plenty of nice and normal people as well. And the revelation that most angels didn't even know about the exterminations, and that they were horrified when they did find out was nice. Also Charlie and Emily singing together is my favourite moment in the show so far. I love a good callback, especially when it doubles as a callout.

I really hope Sir Pentious and Husk interact more, seeings a wannabe overlord and an old overlord interact would be interesting 😂

I love how Angel stood his ground with Cherri even inviting her to come to the hotel. Also standing up to Valentine for his friends then him , to quote Lizzo “About Damn Time”. Now we understand why Val was so upset when Angel move out he no longer had complete control of Angel since he wasn’t in the studio.

For the animal theme I got the idea that heaven and hell are actually just 2 sides of the same coin. Not really much different at all. Just that heaven has angels to keep order, where as hell is more chaos. but no one is forcing the torture and bad things in hell. Hence why no one knows how people get into heaven. For Cherri I got the feeling she didn't know Angel was happy at the hotel and has changed so much, she only knew he use to complain about the hotel and when sending depressing texts she saw he needed an escape. A good friend trying to help in how they did it in the old ways, just not knowing the change. Emily is totally the best in heaven. With the line of her ending up like Lucifer it feels like a threat. It also cements more that Lucifer was innocent when he was punished and the betrayal he suffered breaking him makes more sense. I fear she will become a fallen angel, but I actually would welcome her. She is like a sister to Lucifer since he is a seraphim too. I am freaking out and going nuts waiting till thurs night for the finale. I need it now so bad!

I feel like the next episode is going to be focused on Charlie and Vaggie addressing the big reveal. Whether or not Charlie could tell if she was an angel or not, I think there's still some clearing of the air that's needed before the finale Also, I have a suspicion that Emily's going to try and sneak into Hell, just to get a look for herself, and that there may be some...consequences for her that take place in the finale. Just be careful about getting attached to her

when we learn who Vaggie used to be it was done really well. I wasn't a hundred percent sure but I was sure she wasn't from hell or died and ended up in hell. characters who are born in hell have a different design and characters who die and end up in hell have more of a unique design. Vaggie looked too human- like Lucifer and Charlie.

Charlie wasn't first children of Lilith and Lucifer but they all born death. LadySygerrik Some stories of Lilith have her cursed with the inability to have children, with all of hers being either born dead or dying shortly after being born. It could be Charlie isn't their first child, just the first one to survive. Valentino simp If we learned anything from HB, it's that Viv love morbid backstories soooo
