I hate that people think im a meme channel only and not know i make original AMVs and original music and i do other stuff too im like, a huge brand/staple person for the animation meme community, that people widely recognise as an animation memer i HAte that i dont wanna be a staple person widely recognised for memes, thats why i unlisted 40 of my memes even tho i love to make memes

Very much agree with the points you've brought up! For me, memes are a filler on my channel when I can't post my personal projects/map parts. Although, I think I'm going to start focusing on memes a bit more, putting in lots of effort + ways to make them my own instead of sticking to the format exactly. My good friend Yes-Hi-Hello's work on memes is exactly what I want to be doing with my animation ^^

i think animation can really help a artist that is just starting out, i've been wanting to start doing animation memes but lately i haven't had the time to do so. and with animation memes being a filler in between big projects is a great idea since it'll keep the audience intrigued

heres my 2 cents i do memes Lots of people like myself dont do them for practice or to go far with animation. It's for fun ! If i wanna do a headbob, let me do a head bob. Its what I enjoy doing, just like how i enjoy doing all my person artwork. Its a hobby and its fun. I dont really ?? make videos to please others that much. I do it because its my passion and stress reliever.

I personally like animation memes, but I prefer ones with a bit more animation than most. I also prefer frame-by-frame animation over tweening but I'm OK with tweening. I'm trying to practice animation and at the moment, I do animatics and animation tests. I've also joined one MAP so far. But when I get a laptop, I'm going to do animation memes, animatics, PMVs, and even gonna try to do an AMV somewhere down the road.

"People can't improve with animation memes!" "They're just doing head bobbing and flipping barely animated images!" Yknow what? This can apply to literally everything else in life. If you just stick with cup noodles you won't improve in cooking. If you don't try harder levels in a game you'll be stuck with the most basic quests. *If you don't run, you can only walk, and fall behind everyone else.* It's not the type of animation the animator is doing that matters. It doesn't matter whether the animator is working on long projects, short animations, MAPs or memes. It's about whether the animator is willing to challenge themselves. It's about whether they want to improve their skills.

I'm just pointing out that RU-vid red does let you download videos, but you cannot access them other than in the RU-vid app or upload them anywhere else. Also, they are deleted after thirty days. There are plenty of other ways to download RU-vid videos online and septerate the sound. A little research goes a long way on the internet.

And people need to realize that there are meme animators who really take it to the next level and make quality animations like shark lee for example. Not all of them stick to the comfort of four frames.

Animation memes are how I started animating. I started making them in around April this year. After doing that for a few months, I realized that I wasn’t happy with my content anymore. I tried making more original content, and that helped a bunch. My first serious animation was my cut my hair spinimation meme (don’t watch it, it sucks and is old) and I learned a lot about animating from that. I way happier with my content now and I hope to do more cool things in future! I still do memes, but I always use a different format from the original. What a lot of people don’t understand is that a lot of the people who make animation memes are not yet confident in themselves to begin doing original content and is not a good idea to rush them into changing what they draw, because it will hurt them as they probably won’t have the confidence or patience and won’t give them the same happiness they get from memes. They’ll transition when they’re ready. Also, animation memes getting more attention than original content isn’t the fault of the viewers or the animators. Since memes are so easy to find, people are more likely to watch them.
@BlackMew13
@BlackMew13 6 лет назад
yeah i agree with pretty much everything you said! this is another case of people just caring way to much what other do who cares if someone only does animation memes their whole life ? it makes them happy, so just leave them alone sure if you actually do that you wont improve much and you wont be able to get a job in animation, but not everyone wants that! some people just wanna have fun
@popnpog6351

I’ve seen people who almost solely worked on animation memes and improved greatly. There’s so many variables that I don’t think “animation memes won’t help you improve” really counts as an argument. You can say, but they might not go to an art college, but a lot of meme animators aren’t going to and they do them just for fun. I fall in that boat. I’m planning to go into some sort of STEM field. I don’t have too much time to work on animations or art because I have way too much work, because I’m in “advanced” classes. (My school thinks advanced means you do a ton more work) but whenever I can sit down and draw, I feel relaxed and happy.
@luka4282

without the meme animation videos, i would not have found so many animators i have grown to enjoy. i like finding cutie and quick videos to watch while taking a break from drawing and most of the memes are of music i enjoy. I do watch more then just the animation memes from those people now cause they made so much more. it's good content to bring people in. besides some people don't animate to be an animator full time and/or get a job in that field. Having it as a hobby is a valid thing. thanks for the video tho, i do enjoy hearing your option on topics. Being honest is the best thing.

I'm not a animator or pursue to be one, but I sometimes do animation memes when I'm bored. I only have one tho, I was really proud too. I like to challenge myself oof. You will get a award in the end too after hard work especially this is your first full animation. I never gave up. Most of them are animatics tho out of boredom. I totally agree.

I’ve been in the art community for over a year already but I’m now just getting into animation memes. I think they’re cool and they can be challenging. I’m a new animator and I’m very inexperienced and I’ve been trying to finish a meme, and it’s very hard!! Idk how to edit or match the animation to the music, but I’m just happy I’m learning how to animate.

I think animation memes are a good start and can get people's foot in the door. Loops are good practice and especially good for the video game animation world as well as advertising so if you know what you're doing you can make something more out of it.

I just think people take animation memes too seriously, on both sides. Really, they're entirely harmless on a genre level and aren't worth getting upset about. I've only recently found this community, after years of uploading my art to instagram without really interacting with other artists. I like the community but the whole taking things too seriously thing is annoying.

I have to agree!! As someone who makes animation memes as a hobby I usually want to add more creativity in my work because I feel more proud that I’m doing something different than the same thing over and over. I love to practice because one day I want to be an ultimate animator for not just RU-vid, but to provide inspiration and entertainment for the public. If the meme is a head bob, I suggest spiffing it up and making it more realistic a bit by making the character blink every now and then or making the hair kinda bounce (just something fun to suggest) I agree that animators should try something new, it’s always fun to try to get out of your comfort zone now and then. I love your videos, keep it up!!

Love all points you've made in this! I don't dive myself into making animated memes as main content on my channel or any where on it since I feel like it doesn't fit my intentions into animating. I really want to become a professional in the animation industry and so I constantly push myself to make more advanced content so in the future I have something to put in a portfolio! Although memes in my opinion are overall simplistic, I'm not skeptical if that person would just be doing it as a Hobbie. But if im seeing it from someone that wants to become a professional, makes me question :0

I use animation memes as a way of animating without having to do a full blown animation that I'd get sick of super fast. At the moment, school has been super stressful for me so just coming home and working on something I know won't take a year to make is super good for me. I'm perfectly fine with the fact that they aren't the most professional animation form out there, and I understand the complaints against them. This is a really great video, thanks for making it!
@keyontable

The only reason I'm doing animation memes right now is because I want to motivate myself to keep animating. I don't want it to become my career, that was not my idea when I first started. But I do enjoy it, and I want to improve, but at this point in time, I just feel unmotivated to do anything creative, so I just use animation memes to make sure I don't just drop animation and waste all the work I've done. I've recently been listening to music I want to make original animations to, however, and I'm trying to make them as soon as possible- after a Christmas video, of course.

Can we just say and appreciate any animator who animates? I've seen many animators who improve a LOT for making animation memes, it helps them expand their minds and creativity on unique characters and music all together. not only it is an advantage for animators but it also makes them happy for making them.

Finally, a Animation meme rant that I completely agree with. Seriously though, all that everyone says is that their "bad" for only being a few seconds long. Animation Memes, as I veiw them, is a little practice hobby that beginning, or professional, animtors do just for fun and practice. But it is always nice to get out of your comfortzone. The way you adressed everything is flawless, and is probably my most favorite rant thing so far on RU-vid.

Okay, I honestly love this video- mainly because you say "*IF* the person wants to pursue serious animation-". You don't assume that professional animation is for everyone, and it really isn't. Memes are fun and short and easy to do, and are good for people who just wanna have fun! So yeah. Basically, thank you for realizing that sometimes people don't care about getting a job in art/going to an art college. That's something a lot of people forget and I'm happy you remembered to be open minded about it, even if it just seemed natural to say to you.
@skellyaceart

There is also the fact that some animation memes can help you get out of your comfort zone. For example, the Losing my Mind meme can help with banging a fist or a hand to a wall, just ask Jordan Sweeto! Other animation memes involve other things, like dancing scenes, spinning characters, and making random and intense facial expressions (cough cough, the Weeb meme.) There's also the fact that you can help tell a story with the memes, like the relationship with one character with others, and a character's past.
@tuneaj2763
@tuneaj2763 6 лет назад
I agree. Right now, I'm just doing MAP parts and animation memes for practice, because in the future I really want to do full AMVs, and write some more songs as well. I already have another career in mind, so I don't really care if animations don't kick off. But it's also a career I can have while doing animations so I have both options. But most of the popular ones are growing out of it. Kittydog does AMVs, Birdie is starting one minute things which is a step and soon she'll be doing 2 mins then 3, etc. And Rossali wants to start doing original things, but she needs money for college.
@mani2905
@mani2905 6 лет назад
I totally agree with this! Honestly, I’m a beginner animator and I’m only starting to work on a second animation meme which is turning well, (in my opinion) and it’s a lot of fun! However, I’ll probably just mostly do random animations than animation memes on my channel, considering with an animation you can really put a lot more effort into it if you want. Sure, the same goes with animation memes, but I find animation memes to be fun side projects.

I also think it's important to realize that not everyone does want to go to art school and get an art job. Some people just like animating as a hobby and those people don't need to be pushed out of their comfort zone if that's what they enjoy because well, it's their *hobby*. They do it for fun.

I'm a bit late to the party, but I just really relate with the first part of your experience with animation memes. I'm at the same part- I've had a long hiatus from animation, I started doing animation memes, I went on to doing MAP parts. Personally I don't like it when people trash animation memes, it's a product of RU-vids algorithm. It doesn't favor animation, especially not quality animation. That's what I love about memes, people can work for longer to perfect their stuff and then loop it! I also think it's a great opportunity to experiment with the animation principles, even if it is for short stuff. I think what saddens me the most is that so many people doing memes are called out for being lazy, toxic, bad, and cringey. I can't even imagine how awful it must be to young artists to be put in cringe compilations and such. Give people some time to grow up and experiment. People aren't born good. Also, it annoys me how people give the animation memes so much hate. If you don't like it, don't watch it? Saying it is lazy is like demanding something over nothing. No animator on RU-vid owes you anything, this is all free content. Thank you so much for making this video, I'm so happy to see there are some people that can stay more neutral on this topic.

Animation Memes : 3 Three Words Fun or UnFun (At least 80% of all animation memes(only including song ones)) Most of these are people using characters head bobbing to music that turns dark and stuff which kinda bores me now and then, some are good.. I've done animation for quite a long time first with Animatics, (then only one time i I used flipaclip, testing frames) and then now i do animation for real. And i dont do the song animations not unless I'm feeling it, I have a WHOLE playlist dedicated to clips I could animate that may be better than some others, it's good to branch out and experiment. Like you said, sometimes get out of the comfort zone and try new things and see what will work..I always love when you say all these things Atari, it makes me feel like I'm not the only one here who understands some of these things that others dont cause im a bit anti social

i think animation memes are fine when they actually involve animation, not just stills repeated over an over again because that's not what animation is technically

I think I am a good artist and I have been wanting to do memes for a while. I want to do them for practice with timing and movement. I have lots of ideas that aren’t animation memes but I’m not at the skill level to them yet. So I think animation memes will be good practice! I agree with the points you made and that your going to have to step out of your comfort zone sooner or later, but for beginners we can’t cross the zone yet. And once I think I’m at the skill level to finally go over my comfort zone, I will try. But for now I’ll stick with the memes. ^_^

I want to start animation memes to make me used to animation a bit and then move on, I like and enjoy a few animation memes that actually don’t repeat! That what annoys me in general... I like when a few are away from the original and do something completely different, but I agree with you in a way!

i do like animation memes heck they are what inspired me to animate in the first place but you are right when you say they wont get you very far however they are good practice, i mean ive been currently only really focusing on animation memes but honestly its only because im a worthless beginner who needs practice.. heheh.. once im sure ive got enough experience with animation i do plan to start doing more than just memes. memes are fun but as you said are mainly good for just practice (or just for fun)

Yeah it's good practice and you can meet people by doing them but i just honestly like more complex animation like stick figure animations or some sakuga and that's why i don't really care about them. nice vid btw!!

Animation memes are fine. They are entertaining too! They're also something that anyone who has a phone or laptop can do. You can also do the same thing your idol does if they do animation memes. For example I want to do animation memes because my idol SleepyGrim also does them.

To me, animation memes CAN be a good thing, because they can be beneficial when getting into things like Map parts! For me, I had an intent of making map parts, but I didn't get into anything because I was a beginner. (I still am) My first meme was the thing that got me a map part. So I think that animation memes are a good thing to make!

Some animation memes are good, some are bad. I mean if something is well planned out then it will work. But ultimately if it gets new people's feet wet into animation, I think it is a fantastic thing. About those rants: nobody can stop someone else to do something because they hate it. They have to deal with it, no one else. The only thing that can be done is look and ask if they want tips and tricks on animation once they are more experience in it and you think they are ready to the next stage. Of course if they say no, leave they be . There is no point in forcing things because they have been clear they don't want help. In short, if it helps a new generation of people starting to see themselves into the animation industry and they enter it when they are adults, I am all for it.

i dont mind animation memes, the only problem i really have with them is that they're usually repetitive or just still images. and a lot of times, the people that dont really put much effort into them are the ones always getting appreciated when there are lots of better artists/animators

I think what's cool about animation memes is that you can experiment in the animation memes! You can try out a style and see how it moves. Or test a style of animation and see if you're good at it. I can't animate at the moment since I'm getting use to using a tablet. But I've always had these over the top idea for animation memes! So over the top they probably might be considered amvs!

I love this video. It’s one where people aren’t screaming, “ANIMATION MEMES ARE FOR LAZY PEOPLE!” And instead gives people a choice. Animation memes are fun, and if animation is just a hobby to you, just do them. They MAY even get you into a decent art school. But if your serious about animation, try making your own, original content. I love animations memes, but I CANNOT get mad at this video. GOOD JOB!

I agree on these things you say I said I am going to go out of the animation meme community but I like doing them and I make them more original then the other ones and the music gives me ideas and I will try and go out of my comfort zone and try new stuff like I’ve always wanted to do

In my honest opinion, the main thing I don't like about animation memes is the huge recognition people can get for simply posting the "tail wag and head bob animation loops" when there are so many amazing artists out there who put so much effort into their work and do other original things on top of it who get barely any notice at all, it just pisses me off cause seeing amazing artists get so little credit is something I cannot stand :'0 You can see youtubers who post solely animation memes with the most deadbeat fucking bare minimum 4 frame animation loops get 300k while someone else who spends days, weeks or months on their animations (memes or original) get like idk dude 30k ? Not even?? I dunno dude I just really wish people would pay some recognition to other animations outside of the mainstream memes

Oh boi. I'm glad to see a video that speaks on the topic of animation memes in a positive light. It's a breath of fresh air to be honest. Anyways here is my thoughts: 0:48 I agree to a certain extent. I don't think animation memes are Pandora's box. However I don't think some of the praise they get is good either if they are not of quality. Animation memes are benefiting the animation community to an extent. 1:05 Same 2:13 A. It depends on the college/uni/job. If it's just a slideshow with music in the backround and no actual animation, I highly doubt they would except you. I don't think memes will get you denied on the spot just because their memes, but rather the content in the video. B. Animation memes can improve your animation to a degree. However, it shouldn't be all that you do. If you don't get out of your comfort zone and try to animate other things outside of memes, then you won't improve. C. That's debatable depending on what type of animation meme. If it's fliping frames across the screen/head bobbing/ minimal animation, that's pretty lazy in my opinion. 2:58 I don't think all of the concern is entirely hate and spite. Some of it could be genuine criticism. 3:08 That's kind of my/other's point. 3:12 I agree 3:22 That's one my main gripes with them. I'd rather wait 4 months for high qualiy animation that someone took their time on than rushed animations that took at least a week to make. 3:36 I agree. In my opinion, they're best utilized that way. Rather than it being constantly dished out, it can be served as filler content to keep your channel alive and your fans can get hyped for the next animation. 4:13 Animation memes can be used in this way. However I don't see that in most memes. 4:26 You just summarized the critisms I have for the community. Nice video as a whole! But, this is my thoughts on the things that I want to touch up on.

Animation memes can be a positive or negative thing, depending how you look at it or how you make them. There are some animation memes with complex and consistent movement, but there are also some that are constant. It isn't necessarily what category it's in, but how you do it and how many times you do it that really makes it a positive. However if it's just head bobbing or constant tail wagging, then it's a negative because you eventually become dependent. But memes are also used just for fun purpose, so as long as you aren't completely focused on making lazy animations then you're probably okay (just like you said in the video). They don't deserve the hate they have, but that doesn't mean they don't need hate altogether. Actually, some hate (well... more of criticism than hate) can prove effective to some animation meme makers! It helps them improve and realize that just making them and nothing else won't actually improve their skill. It helps them branch out and eventually become even more comfortable with something other than memes.

Personally, I'm trying rather hard to get into a good school, and Animation Memes were/are a good way for me to practice editing techniques and also just get something up. I don't plan on doing them forever, but for now, you're right; they make great filler!!

Animation Memes are sort of the equivalent of using a base when starting out in drawing. It's good, it allows you to work on hair and eyes, but not the bulkier stuff like anatomy and stuff. And like how an artist my manipulate a base to tailor it to their needs I've seen some animation memes that change their original concept a little. So yeah, definitely a good jump off point but not something I would say people should do exclusively.

If there's one thing I dislike about most animation memes is how most are just a few frames that loop for a whole two minutes. I think alot of animators do need to get out of their comfort zone because this is literally all I've seen.

I’m actually getting out of my comfort zone to do animation memes since I don’t know shit about animation and I haven’t animated anything or been a part of a big community of animators since Flipnote Hetena for the Dsi and I wasn’t even really a big part of that either so I don’t want to miss out on the fun anymore
